Hertz on 14th St. in Bradenton is terrible. The first thing we noticed was the car was filthy. While on the interstate we started hearing a scraping noise. Turned out, the front end was damaged and plastic was scraping the pavement. We brought it back and were treated very rudely. No apology, nothing but attitude. I will never rent from Hertz again thanks to this experience.

Beware when renting from Hertz. I rented a car from Hertz thinking that it was a good company and the price was right. I was to pick it up from Sarasota/Bradenton Airport on Sunday 10:30 am. Due to several issues with the airline I actually arrived after midnight on Monday. As I was updated on my flight I called Hertz customer service to inform them of the timeframe I had. I was told the Hertz counter at the airport would be closed at midnight however to my surprise when I arrived the airline said the car rentals stay open till the last plane arrives at night. I went to the counter and was asked if I wanted to add anything to my rental agreement. I opted for liability on the car and was given a price. I was told my credit card wouldn't accept the extra amount so I said put it on a different card. They said I needed to sign for it as it was a different card and I was not given any of the paperwork with my signature on it to keep. I was also given a much larger SUV then I requested and didn't realize that till I went out to get the car. Nothing was said that indicated that it was a much larger vehicle at the counter. I discovered the next day that I had two charges on two accounts but figured it would take them time to refund the one account. Now it is a couple of weeks later and I still have both charges. The charge for liability is one and a half times the price I was told at the counter and they added premium roadside which I did not ok. I called customer service and after holding for a half an hour I was told that they would send me a copy of the bill and that I had to speak to the manager of Hertz in Sarasota/Bradenton and was given a number which you are unable to get a person as I tried every prompt they had. I am now out $673 dollars that I didn't approve and to top it all off I had to get a battery for the key fob which was supposed to be taken off the price but wasn't. Also the customer service rep never did send me the receipt. I have paid more for extra charges then I did for the car rental. Being on Social Security I would never have approved those charges. So beware when dealing with this company. I have since heard other similar stories so beware before using Hertz. And I am sorry that I had to even give it one star as there is no other choice.

This needs a zero option. We rented a moving/ box truck online through Hertz.com. Seems simple. 99% of everything we do is ordered online. Funny, we showed up at the pick up location that the email told us to pick it up at. And when we got there they said that we don't have any box truck's. I said we were told to pick it up here. They said you must have ordered it online. I said we have something called the internet. Why would I make the drive here to rent a truck when everything is done online? They told me they are separate entities?!?! So hertz isn't hertz. His explanation was that just like you rent a car and someone doesn't return the car, they just rent out another car. I said okay but how does that translate to trucks? They said well apparently it doesn't. So shocking we didn't get the truck. And they told us they can't cancel it there we have to go back online because... you guessed it, hertz isn't hertz.

Great service and pricing on my 2 month rental. The first vehicle I rented had a slow leak in one of the tires and when I called Corporate they were less than helpful. This location could not have been anymore accommodating, they quickly swapped out the "leaky" one for another.To top it off, when I dropped the car off today to end my rental their driver even took me home!Great staff and management run this franchise.Well done.

Car was actually disgusting & had a sickening chemical smell to it. Gave us a car with less than half a tank of gas. They had around six employees just sitting around you'd think someone could clean the cars and get gas.

Needed a replacement vehicle after getting rear ended. Six weeks worth. After the insurance company (State Farm) advised me our car would be provided by Hertz, they arranged the whole deal. Hertz picked me up at the auto body shop (Pontos - highly recommended). The paperwork was all done in advance, and and in a few minutes charged me for the 20% deductible for three weeks (we were advised this would be the shortest time to repair $8,000 worth of damage in today's economy) they provided a clean sedan. We had to extend for another three weeks, which was accomplished with a quick call to the same office.Return was a breeze. Nice job, made the ordeal a bit easier.

We received a dirty car. My cousin had to wash the windshield inside and out in order to see clearly. They wanted to charge a $100 cleaning fee for basic vacuuming.
