Please take responsibility to make sure that your loved ones are well cared for and safe in this community. They put on a good show but understaffing and a failure to expect professional behavior from the CNA’s and activity coordinators results in far less than ideal care and safety of residents.

I am sad that I had to leave even 1 star. I spent 34 days in this facility and I have to say it was the worst experience of my life. 9I have never left a bad review but I feel compelled as far as this place is concerned. The food was terrible and the meals were always cold. The entire time I was there I think I had 1 warm meal. They moved me 3 times I had to wait for the 2hrs the 2nd time while they cleaned and sanitized a room for me. Well guess what the room they gave me was filthy, shoes stuck to the floor and bugs were running rampant. It had not been cleaned. It was so disgusting that my physical therapist cleaned the floor with wet paper towels. I was in that room for 2 weeks and they never cleaned it. Also my call button did not work there were times I had to wait a long time for help to the bathroom.I tested positive for covid after 3 weeks because they moved the patients with covid right next door to me. They hung a curtain in the hallway to keep the covid germs away, what a joke.Half of the time the nurses and CVNs didn't wear the proper garments to enter my room. I even had a nurse come mto my room.with no gloves,no mask, and no paper gown. l called management nearly every day to no avail.Lynn Davis

My dad was a patient at Gulf Coast Rehab. Last month and having a daughter who works in a skilled facility in Dallas Texas knows what needs to happen to make his experience great. I couldn’t of been any more proud of this facility in making my dads stay here awesome, he did not ever want to be in any facility but hearing him talk how great everyone was like Patty, Paula,Chris his nurses, and Lisa the social worker and many more great members of his team caring for him. I would recommend this place 100 times over.Carol daughter of Ed

Stay away from this place!!! I never write reviews and I took time to calm down before writing this, ensuring I would be fair. Unless you are able to monitor your loved one 24 hours a day ( either through family, friends or a paid "sitter), do not entrust GCV with your person. My father stayed there in between his treatment for cancer and suffered from the inconsistent, generally inattentive and at times diabolical and menacing approach to care. I stayed with him all day and we hired a sitter to be in his room at night. Even with the sitter monitoring every move, the care was horrible. In the evening there was one nurse for an entire wing of patients. Pain and anxiety medicine went 5-8 hours past the time it was needed, to the point my Father was getting out of his bed and trying to pull out his feeding tube- as he was in pain and overwrought with anxiety. He was sent in a police car to Cape Hospital under the Baker Act ( by the head Psychologist) because he lashed out at a nurse who was trying to give him his medicine...which was 7 hours overdue..which caused him to be uncontrollably anxious and in pain. Their solution was to send him away- vs. provide medicine on time, thus avoiding the situation. They are heartless, understaffed, inattentive and lacking integrity at the leadership level. I have nightmares about my Dad calling me at night asking me why he has to stay there ( he has since passed away). When I challenged the head Psychologist on her Baker Act move, she told me that I was "lucky my Dad was still alive at my age ( in my 40's) as her Dad died when she was 11". She said this as though that made her horrible choices okay, because he was still here and her Father was not, so her torture of an 80 year old man was acceptable. When it was time for my Dad to move to a hospice house the staff started packing up his personal items before he even was taken out of the room by the transport team. Uncaring and not attuned to what families and people need at the end of their life. Perhaps if you do not need any routine medical care or assistance GCV would be different. But, I sincerely recommend not believing the pretty pictures of smiling faces and caring people. There were a few kind nurses, but they are overworked and likely don't stay long. Steer clear- I hope this saves other families the pain my Father endured.

I have never had such caring nursing staff as I have had at gulf coast village they were all very kind and very polite. When I needed to seriously rest I had the kind of nurse that would let me do that then in the same sense if I were needing a laugh or some silliness in my life that was the nurse that I had it was almost like they could read my mind and I thank you all very much.

Mom is now moving from Independent Living to assisted living. Staff has been great although they are a little hard to get to retune calls but they do take care of the issue I called about. Great place. Hope I can live there when I'm old.

How does one manage a pandemic? Let me tell you how Gulf Coast Village does it. They do it by caring. Every hour of every day they care by providing us with meals in our apartments, activities we can do either by ourselves or in small groups well spaced apart, shopping at stores for us, taking us to our doctor appointments, and providing for those with special needs. For each of these actions, the well trained staff demonstrate remarkable patience, skill, and humor. The dining selections offered in our weekly menu show the imagination and talent in our kitchen. Although the servings are boxed, each item is carefully prepared, and the proof is in the tasting. The meals are distributed by the dining room servers to our door where we make our selection for the day. They may suggest and offer help as well as recommendations, but maintain the strict discipline required for our isolation. With everyone wearing a face mask, recognition of our servers is difficult. I want to tell them all how much I appreciate what they, and the entire staff, are doing to make us comfortable and safe during this seriously troubling epidemic. May God bless them!.

My wife and I are very satisfied living at Gulf Coast Village. People here are very kind , friendly and helpful. The food is of the highest quality served by friendly faces. The halls, elevators and common areas are maintained and clean. The staff will almost always greet you with a smile and a answer to your question. Gulf Coast Village provides a large number of activities and amenities to keep you busy if you want to. We also have day and night security here in our buildings and grounds.Come join us here at GCV.
