UPDATE: Somehow got moved to 4 stars. I corrected the stars to 1.
Had a 10AM appointment for two new tires. Took them 2 hours and 44 minutes to complete. Crazy.

I usually don’t leave reviews unless something goes seriously wrong, but my experience at this Pep Boys deserves to be shared.
I came in on a Saturday around noon for an oil change and to have a check engine light diagnosed. The diagnostic cost around $100, which I was fine with. I waited nearly 3 hours with no updates, and when I started asking for information, most of the staff seemed unaware of what was happening. After repeatedly pressing, I was finally told by someone named Julian (not sure of the spelling), who was managing my case, that the issue was a faulty grill shutter. The part needed to be ordered from out of state, and they couldn’t guarantee same-day delivery. I agreed to take the car home and return once the part arrived.
I waited three days. No call. When I followed up, it felt like the part hadn’t even been ordered. He assured me it would be now, but again, no call. I followed up again a few days later, and still nothing. Every time I called, I got vague answers, and no one seemed to know what was going on.
When I finally got Julian back on the phone (we’re almost two weeks in at this point), he was shockingly rude. He told me that he would order the part but that I still needed to approve the estimate, an estimate he never sent until I pushed for it again and again. Only after I insisted did he finally send it. I asked to speak to his supervisor to voice my disappointment and surprise on how I was being treated as a customer. He told me the manager, Gloria, was in meetings and unavailable. She never followed up either. Again, unacceptable.
Being busy is one thing, but being rude and disrespectful to customers is another. The lack of communication was frustrating enough, but the dismissive, rude attitude from Julian was unacceptable. Customers deserve to be treated with respect, especially when they’re being patient and cooperative.
I ended up taking my car to the Jeep dealership in Davenport. They diagnosed and fixed the issue in under two hours. It WASN’T a $1,200+ repair like Pep Boys claimed, it was a simple loose connector. They fixed it for free.
To this day, I haven’t heard back from Pep Boys. I’ve taken my business elsewhere and won’t be returning. Bottom line is, unless there’s a major change in how this location treats customers and handles diagnostics, I can’t recommend it. There are too many other good places that know how to treat people right.

I wish I could give negative starts for this pep boys but I suppose one will do. This is by far the WORST experience I have ever had at a repair shop. My family and I were visiting from Pennsylvania. When we first arrived to Florida there was a loud noise coming from the back of my vehicle and a vibration that happened when the vehicle was being driven over 25 mph . I called and spoke to and advisor and specifically told them my concerns with the vehicle. When I dropped the car off overnight, I wrote on the envelope the specific conditions that caused my vehicle to have the problem. The next day the shop called me with an astronomical quote that had absolutely nothing to do with the reason why I brought the car in. Little did they know I used to work in a shop and everything they tried to sell me had previously been done 4 days before I arrived in Florida. And none of the things that they recommended were the cause of my vehicle's problem. Once I address this with the advisor, he admitted that they never test drove my vehicle to begin with to duplicate the problem and that they would have the mechanic recheck the vehicle. The next day the advisor told me that what I originally thought was wrong was the car was the exact problem and never mentioned the other repairs again. Because I told them I was from out of town, needed the vehicle back right away, and because I was a woman, they tried to oversell me on repairs thinking I did not know any better. Once I picked up my vehicle and tried to bring it back to my Airbnb, the headlights and the air conditioner were cutting out and my vehicle was suddenly having electrical problems. The next day I took it to a different mechanic because my car would not start. I would recommend everyone to completely avoid this pep boys unless they want to be robbed blind and lied to.

Let me begin by their pricing......unbelievable and ridiculous. Although I had no choice but to fix my car there, their estimate of time required was way off. I received a text message that my repairs were completed, so I gathered my things from my intense job duties and took the 5 minute Uber ride to their store. Was told that it would only be a few minutes. 1 hour later, after asking several times, my car was pulled around. No apologies, no discount, no nothing! Never go there again !!!

I went in for an oil change on a Kia Soul, and I waited in the area for my car. Carlos and Jesus were very professional and caring. Thank you very much for getting my car service. 😀

They are rude, lying to customers .the supervisor old lady is lying when she denies that I did not call. I showed her proof of call history when she quoted me for service and when I arrived she quoted me differently even though no thing changed and I did not ask for extra service, she said that is not their location phone number, then I made her feels embarrassed when I picked my phone and called the store while she is saying that and the store phone starts to ring ! She was stupid and embarrassing when I proofs that by calling the store and all customers were listening to our conversation and laughing when store phone was ringing , she then said we do not have service available for you ,she was trying to avoid me by any means when I made her in this situation. She was trying to change the price because I already in the store so she knows that I will be willing to pay that extra from what I was quoted by phone. They are all look like big stealers and I told them that I will make sure to complain about this location and leave a review too so other people not to be in same situation. This is not good for business at all and I wish they learn from this.

Made an oil change appointment for 11AM. Arrived at 10:55. One workers and 9 customers inside the small waiting room. 11:20 ai got to the counter. I explained I had an appointment. The worker confirmed I had an appointment the. Proceeded to tell me an oil change would be $113.00. Holy crap. But I was desperate as we were heading out of town. I told him I would wait with my daughter as I was told 30 minutes when I called and then made online appointment. My daughter and I walked to Publix and then back. My car was still in the same parking spot. At 1:10 PM, so two hours after my appointment time, a lady came to help the front desk. I asked her about my 11 AM appointment and within a minute my car was moved to a bay. Then another 20 minutes for an oil change and no discount or apology for this.

I took my Volkswagen Jetta to replace just ONE tire, scheduled for 10:30 on 01/08/2024. I arrived at 10:15, so far so good. I watched the other people who arrived after me, carrying out the services and leaving at 12:00. I asked how much longer it would take, and to my surprise, my form hadn't even been sent yet, because the reception FORGOT, that is, now not at 12:20, I've been waiting for TWO HOURS FOR THE CHANGE OF JUST ONE TIRE. I'll edit the review with the time when it's finished

Had an appointment and got there 15 minutes before only for a "Quick" A/C check but I was turned away and told to come back another time or would have to leave my car there for 24 hours. All of this for a "QUICK" A/C CHECK?! Even though I set that appointment a week in advance, I was still told to come back another day. Appointments at this place don't matter, so don't bother trying to make one online.

Julian and Carlos took care of me and got me in earlier before my appointment time. Quick check of the battery and a swap under warranty and my car is good as new. They definitely go above and beyond for everyone here not just me. Just sitting in their waiting area I heard them doing everything they could for the other people getting service done as well. Definitely coming back for any other car problems I'm having.

I had a major breakdown and was towed into this Pep Boys location at night. I was able to schedule service for the next morning. I found out the extent of the issue was major, but the team diagnosed it and laid out a plan to make the needed repairs and replacement of my A/C system. After the repairs began, I called and asked for an oil and filter change as well. They accommodated and even rotated my tires without me asking. Top notch service from this team. Excellent leadership. I only wish they would move closer to me...they would be my go-to for all my automotive needs. Well done!
