Although I did love Dr St John, the new vet, Dr A and staff have transformed the former VERY cluttered, crowded, and dark space, into a clean, bright, beautiful space. Prices have increased quite a bit, but are in line with other vets in the area. You would HAVE to expect that when a new owner takes over a decades-old practice. You can obviously see that the money is not lining anyone's pockets - it is going toward the practice. I am very happy with Dr A and staff and am confident they are taking good care of the patients in their care. My senior yorkie is well loved and cared for there. Most of the poor reviews are about cost. Is that really the measurement you're going to use for a vet's quality and expertise? Shouldn't medical professionals make money? Should they spend YEARS and a great deal of money becoming a vet and then not expect to recoup anything from their efforts? C'mon. (I'm POSITIVE Dr St John didn't spend a tiny fraction of what Dr A had to spend on her education!) In your review, just say "I can't afford to take my pet here." There's no need to bash the practice because it doesn't line up with your budget. I have been going to this practice for over 20 years with all of my dogs. I was happy with Dr. St John and I am happy with Dr A and staff as well. By the way, I was not asked to write a review, and I am not friends with or related to anyone there either. I happened to be looking up the phone number and saw the poor reviews on Google. I know how poor reviews can affect a business.

4:30pm I took my dying dog there in an emergency and they rejected him. Less than an hour later he died. They had no mercy , we’re cold , and I asked for the doctor and vet and they said they would say no. Didn’t even ask . Our family and neighbors went here for years but spreading the word to not go back . They changed vet and owners . They don’t deserve your business . Spare yourself and your fur friend

Rude staff overpriced and they wanted to charge me, AGAIN, thousands of dollars for a surgery that THEY did wrong !!! We miss the old staff !!! These ppl are a joke !!! I hope they have to shut down and everyone there loses their jobs !! Nobody in their right mind would hire people like this and expect customers to be satisfied with their experience.

Prices under new management have sky rocketed. If your business is struggling so much that you must charge thousands for xrays or check ups then there are obvious issues within the business already. If you want mafia amounts of money then run a different practice instead of running people dry.

Edit October 2023: Dr. St John and his wife have retired and sold this. I used to drive an hour to see them, and I would request an appointment via email. When I tried to do that this time to get my newest cat seen, I was not told this via email. So I drove an hour with my cat to walk in and find it completely different and no Dr. St John.It may just be me, but I would have liked to have been told that I was not going to be seeing the doctor that I have been seeing since 2013. They could have communicated that through email that it was Under New Management and had a new veterinarian. The reason I drove that far was because I did not want to change in the first place. I just felt like that was something that needed to be said.Original review 2016: I have lived in the area for about two and a half years, I began taking my pets here when I got here, & I wouldn't take them anywhere else. The doctors and staff here are awesome, they have compassion, they smile when you get here, and they are just all around great people. They have taken very good care of my two cats.

Best Veterinarian we have ever visited. They really care about our fur family member!UPDATE: 2023! THE STAFF HERE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REPLACED by some new vet that took over Mr. St. John's practice. They are unprofessional, jacked up the prices, and we will not be returning after nearly 20 years as a client.

Used to be a wonderful hospital for our critters. The doctor previously really cared about the animals not so much about the money.Neither pricing is off the charts

READ THE MOST RECENT REVIEWS (you'll be able to figure out which ones were planted) in order to understand what is going on now.UPDATE: The person running interference for all these negative reviews responded to this huffily, claiming it was an "attack on the staff." Truth is NEVER an attack. They also mentioned the staff underwent "professional positivity training." In what universe is this normal? It's a given that people should behave properly, especially in a professional setting. To continue...The former vet, Dr. St John, was my family's vet for 40 years.HOWEVER... When the new vet purchased the practice in spring 2023, the service immediately plummeted and the prices immediately skyrocketed. To add insult to injury, the staff gleefully talked about Dr St John behind his back, as he stayed on to attempt to make the transition as easy as possible. When my husband and I overheard this, we were already shocked. But it only grew worse. As we checked out, I mentioned to the girl behind the counter that she reminded me a little bit of Dr St John's wife. She immediately switched from being pleasant to bellowing "I am NOTHING like that woman. Don't you DARE ever compare me to her again or even mention her to me." When I asked her if she even knew Dr St John's wife, she admitted she'd never even met her. I wish I'd caught it on video - it must have looked like a scene out of a Hollywood comedy.Obviously the new staff is highly belligerent as well as entitled. This can only be a reflection of the new vet, who had all of her staff present the current customers with her new prices while saying "this is our new standard of care" (i.e. new pricing structure with no additional services).Soon after that incident, one of our beloved dogs vomited a little blood and they told us there was nothing they could do for us unless we were willing to make an appointment for three weeks out. Dr St John would always make time for anyone who had a pet that was in danger. Instead, they referred us to an expensive emergency service. They just couldn't be bothered. When I asked if there was any chance that they would work with us and try to get us in, we would be happy to come in at any point during that day, they were very dismissive.Like so many others, we immediately decided to take our business elsewhere. They are bleeding customers. Just look at the recent reviews. Any good reviews are either about Dr St John, or appear to be planted by someone most likely on the new doctor's staff, in an attempt to staunch the bleeding. No one else has anything good to say about the new practice. Most of Dr St John's patients have gone to either East Bay Animal hospital or the veterinarian near the corner of Missouri and Nursery. One woman told us that she had suddenly discovered that she'd run out of her dog's heart medication and, when she called, they told her that she would have to wait 48 hours to get it like everyone else... Even though they already had it. She also immediately switched to a better vet.Avoid this place at all costs.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Belcher Animal Clinic for veterinary services, and I must say that the level of service I received was exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the clinic staff. The veterinarian who attended to my pet was not only knowledgeable but also displayed a genuine love for animals. She took the time to thoroughly examine my pet, answer all of my questions, and explain the treatment options in a way that was easy to understand. It was evident that she had my pet's best interests at heart.Overall, my experience at Belcher Animal Clinic was outstanding. The caring and competent staff, along with their commitment to providing excellent veterinary care, left me with a strong sense of trust and gratitude. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone seeking top-notch care for their furry companions.

Dr St John has taken care of all our babies for many years. He has certainly earned his retirement. Our pets always got excellent and prompt care at a reasonable price. I miss Dr St John so much and wish he could have been our vet forever. .Unfortunately things have changed . New vet is rude, wants to argue, about everything and prices are through the roof! One visit was all it took! There are other caring vets in Clearwater. I found one.To Dr St John, Sandy and staff.... we miss you, thank you for takingcare of all our babies. Enjoy your retirement!I tried to leave 0 stars for the new practice but it would not let me post!
