How satisfied am I with Public Storage team member interaction? Completely disappointed.
I’ve been renting storage units longer than some of these team members have been alive. Back in the day, Public Storage had pride—you were greeted by name, checked on when visiting your unit, and treated like a valued customer. Fast forward to the last three years at the 66th Street location, and it’s a different story.
I rarely visited, but when I did, I noticed the A/C wasn’t working in my A/C building. I stopped by the office to let them know, thinking maybe they weren’t aware. Turns out they were—thanks to a thermostat system that lets them monitor it from their own air-conditioned office. Their response? “It’s just the humidity.” No concern, no follow-up, just dismissal.
Then came the rent hikes—from $120 to $262/month, especially after the hurricane. Price gouging? Sure felt like it. Increases that I had to fight not having a 30 day notice. On August 6th, I moved out. I was told at check-in that I had to use their lock and would get $50 back when I returned it. I was on autopay, so August was paid. I expected a prorated refund and the lock deposit.
Instead, I got told there’s no refund unless I had submitted an early termination online. That was never mentioned. And the lock refund? Suddenly it was only $20. I wonder if all the doors with PS stickers know they need to return the lock in 30 days to get a refund. When I asked for a DM, the staff got sarcastic and snarky, saying he's going to tell you the same thing. I insisted. The DM was just as rude—told me I wasn’t getting anything back. I asked for the RM # had to leave a VM. Eventually, the DM called back and said they’d send a prorated check along with the RM said I have been a long time customer and he apologized. No call from the RM for the way her DM spoke to a customer. I received the check on 9/8.
But the damage was done. The lack of respect, the dismissiveness, the refusal to believe the customer—all of it left a bad taste. I waited to write this until the refund came, but I wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone. If you value being treated like a human being, think twice.

If I could leave less than one star, I would… I got a climate control unit on the second floor d315 to be exact, took three days packing all my stuff in by myself only to find on the third day that the roof was leaking. Jerry was very helpful in finding me two more units (as they didn’t have any more 10x20’ units available) to then find out that one of those units was also leaking D295. So I feel really bad for anybody and that whole row of units that stuff is most definitely destroyed by now. Not to mention numerous cockroaches on the ground and they don’t sweep out the units before they rent them again, but I was on a time crunch so I had to do what I had to do. Horrible horrible would never ever recommend not even on my worst enemy.

Hands down Mrs Christy at this location is super Nice, understanding and is always willing to help I’ve only had great experiences with her. There are a few other associates that work in there and are very nice as well. I love this location.☺️
