It is shocking to see the bettas in this store, and how they are left to die. At a minimum their water should be changed daily, and dosed with Prime to neutralize toxins. At maximum, Petco needs to configure a humane setup for these beautiful fish. It surely is not a lack of funding.
I went to the store on a Wednesday for the Aqueon sale. Five aquariums on the shelf had obvious cracks in the glass. I managed to find one that was intact. I returned to the store two days later, and it was clear to me that no one had done anything for the bettas during those two days, luckily I rehabilitated the betta that I consider a rescue, but the odds of the other fish surviving if they do not get purchased right away are slim to none.
I cannot imagine returning to the store, as it disturbs me to see fish in such a state surrounded by immature employees that are clearly prioritizing other Petco duties over the welfare of the fish.
Please hire someone that knows how to care for fish, and prioritize the welfare of live animals before unloading dog food pallets.

I have never been to such a careless, unprofessional place in my life. Petco is one of the worst companies you can work for. No respect for their employees whatsoever. Find another place to shop for your pets. They deserve better

Loved Petco for years but they keep getting worse. I bought some toys with my usual dog food and they charged me for the bag. The staff said they do charge for bags now. Really? Prices and profits aren't high enough? So yesterday when I went in I looked at my receipt as I feel they are no longer trust worthy. The receipt shows they charge tax on the full price of the item you are buying and not on the sale price. Look at your receipts. There is a line for the Subtotal line which is the total cost of your purchase and a Taxable Total line which is the total of the full cost of your items if some had not been on sale. The 7% tax is based on the Taxable Total line. Is that even legal to require buyers to pay tax on the full cost of the item purchased? Shouldn't we only pay taxes on the amount we are actually spending? I'll be finding another store.

Stopped by to see if they had any rats for sell, they had 2 large male rats that I was interested in buying one of them possibly both. When my husband went to the front counter to ask the young man if we could see them, he refused and said they can't let us hold them unless we were interested in buying one. My husband informed him we were interested in buying one, but wanted to see the difference in their temperaments. He still refused, so I left and will spend my money elsewhere.

I can definitely tell there is a big management issue going on in the store… it may be organized… but the lack of care for the animals is quite sad … advertisements that are expired up still on shelves and a bunch of dead fishes i walked out as soon as I saw both… I work in store management and just to walk in and see the store not to standards and dead fish that are infected the other healthy fish with all the staff on shift there was it’s completely unacceptable

I just had a very strange experience at Petco in Clermont. I often take my children there to see the animals. We love all kinds of animals, and at home we have 2 dogs and 1 cat, but we've had 5 at the same time before. My children are used to playing with our pets and usually respect their boundaries. When we approached the area where the adoptable kittens were, we encountered two female kittens that were cute and quite active. The kids quickly got excited and started playing with the kittens. There was a green paper with several guidelines stuck on the cage, which I didn't see because the kittens obviously drew more attention, and also because I don't speak English well as I'm an immigrant and the text was quite long. It's not a clear warning that stands out as soon as you approach.
On the acrylic of the cage where the kittens were displayed, there are several holes through which both human fingers can go in and cute paws can come out. To make matters worse, right next to the cage of the adoptable kittens, there is a shelf full of cat toys. Can you imagine what happens with the combination of kids + kittens + small holes + cat toys?
After a while of playing, a very friendly, caring, and polite lady came to ask us not to put our fingers inside the cage through the holes to avoid passing germs to the kittens, and for the kids not to put toys through the hole, but it was okay to play through the acrylic. I apologized for not having read the notice and for not following the rules, and we continued playing through the acrylic because at this time I had already sent photos and videos to my husband because we wanted to adopt one of the two kittens.
My son continued playing with the stick outside the acrylic when another very angry and nervous employee arrived and said that we had already been warned and that we were still putting the stick inside the cage (this is not true), threatening to call her manager to escort us out of the store if we didn't stop. While she said she would kick us out of the store, she rudely took the stick from my son's hand. Unfortunately, my English still doesn't help me argue in these situations when I get nervous.
We didn't stay there for another minute. We left, my younger daughter crying because she wanted a kitten and we were ready to adopt one since my husband had agreed to it. I'm not here to play the victim and I'm aware that we initially broke the rules and took more care after being warned, but the woman was extremely rude, disrespectful to us. We are Petco customers, we have been shopping there since we moved to the area 2 years ago. We have never been threatened to be removed from any place. I have lived in the United States for 10 years and have never been treated so poorly. It seemed like we were doing something very wrong. While in California people can't do anything if someone steals up to $900 from a store, here at Petco in Clermont, FL, we're threatened with being kicked out for putting a finger in the kitten cage. I apologize for not following the guidelines, but I really thought it was excessive. Unfortunately, we left without the kitten.

I stopped in on Sunday to pick up a few fish. The store wasn’t that busy but it seems they only had a few people working. Tiffany updated me that she needed to finish with a couple reptiles and she would be right over. She quickly let them consider a few options and jumped over to me, getting some fish I had requested. Many companies are shortstaffed and are not considering the workload. We’re all busy. Tiffany was very kind and professional. She updated me on the delay and then got to me right away.

If you love your little furry one this a great place to go,not the sheepest but if you consider your furry one like one of the family you can only try to give them the best.
