I am giving three stars for the largeness of the store and the woman (cashier) who made a good effort to help me use my digital coupon .
I would give the man who I guess was a manager or something? No name tag or anything to identify he was employed at the store.
I downloaded the app to use the digital coupons for household supplies ( which were a descent price ) without the coupon. I did the about 7 steps to add to my phone , giving my identifying information and verified the account to use their “coupons “ chose the several items that had to go together to get $5 off the total purchase as it read in the app.
When I got all that done about 15 minutes of prep to get my discount, took them to purchase at the counter . However, I did not use their app/ coupons before and needed some instructions on how to get the discount to apply to the real time purchases????
The cashier did not know and the app did not give any further instructions. So, she called the “manager “ or other person working/ the man .
He basically told me I had all the wrong things but I showed him the advertisement and it was correct products.
He then dismissed me saying what coupon ? And Im holding it in front of him. He made a comment I had to spend 30$ to get the coupon, which may be true ? Idk because there was nothing saying so. He said it is right there in an abrupt condescending way. And walked off . I double checked and read it again nothing saying 30$ on that page . It definitely said nothing about thirty dollars.
So , I was not going to pay an xtra 5$ after I did all the steps and had it correctly , he admitted he didn’t know how to use their app to apply the discount/coupon and then acted as if , I was mistaken what the screen clearly advertised.
He blamed me and walked away.
I put back the second product that was the deal buy two get 5$off.
Weather or not I had the money to pay was not the point .
His manner was unprofessional as the manager or clerk / cashier this was specific to the place he works, yet he seemed unconcerned about that fact and then was gone.
No name , no explanation of ok , I don’t know miss , and I don’t have the authority to give you a discount without using the digital app.
That would have been acceptable and perhaps him knowing how to mange the online coupons for his customers would have been a good idea . Hmm I paid for my products and the cashier was kind and said have a good day mam.
The manager never came back ……?
I will return to this store because I like it despite the fact the man is there and that I now feel uncomfortable and will only use paper coupons and use the app to view products .

The store is very dirty, they never have enough employees working, the shelves are bare. I went to return an item that I had just gotten yesterday, but I got the wrong thing so i needed to return it. The employee told me he couldn't do it because the receipt didn't match the item. I made sure that I had the right receipt but he insisted that he couldn't do it. When I asked to speak to the manager he said he was the manager and he couldn't return it. It made no sense at all. It was literally the item in front of him that was on the receipt. Half the time the coupons I clip on the app don't work and they can't do anything about that either. I don't know if all dollar generals have gone down hill or if it's just this one, but I wouldn't waste my time going to this specific one.

Not a good store Patricia is very rude and mean she yell at the customers, don’t like to work there is always a register broke or they don’t want to get in and help there employee

I go here daily I understand procedures and all that but when someone is in there every day everyone knows me by name to not sell me cigarettes because I forgot my wallet once ate u kidding me the amount of money I spend in there my wife as well we are in there multiple times a day store is going down hill

The Dollar General Store in South Daytona needs some serious training in Customer Service. I know that may be difficult because employees quit shortly after starting. I will discontinue shopping there immediately. Competition is stiff losing customers will not help your bottom line.

Poor customer service. They take money off your healthy options card from humana saying it didn't go through and not give you the items you paid for. Don't ever go there you will get ripped off

There is a woman that works here she has gray hair in the top of her head and the rest is black hair, she is absolutely the most disrespectful unhelpful woman I’ve ever met! I come to this store often cuz I live next to it and I can’t remember a time that she wasn’t nasty! Not just to me, I’ve seen her disrespect other customers, I’ve had other customers while in line complaining about her attitude! She is killing the store

Store is neat and clean. To be told "restrooms are broken" is an insult to ones intelligence. Bought nothing and left never to return.

This is the best DG I've ever been it, because it has the 2 nicest female employees I've ever encountered at a DG. I went on 8/24/22. The manager is very lucky, I hope they know it.
