Chautauqua Vineyards & Winery, established in 1989, is a welcoming stop right off I-10. The vineyard grows its own Carlos and Noble Muscadine grapes on over 50 off-site acres, which many visitors feel creates a superior product. The winery features a tasting bar overlooking the cellar and a gift shop full of unique items, with outdoor seating for sipping and socializing. The staff is consistently described as fabulous, amazing, knowledgeable, fun, kind, professional, and compassionate. The tasting experience typically includes several of their base wines plus chosen samples, often finishing with popular wine slushies like Peach Bellini and Blueberry Pomegranate. Favorites among the light, crisp, and refreshing wines include the Carlos Muscadine, Beachberry Breeze, Honeyflower Breeze, and Beach Bliss, which are sweet without being syrupy. Their port wine has also been praised. Prices are very reasonable, with a discount for buying a case. Visitors report having a delightful afternoon, a lovely time, and find the place worth the stop, highly recommending it for a visit.
