About Longleaf Pine Preserve
Longleaf Pine Preserve offers over 7 miles of well-marked and maintained hiking trails, including the main red trail, orange trail, and green trail. The green trail, which features a loop around a lake with scenic views and boardwalks, was a highlight despite some overgrowth. The preserve’s trails start with a boardwalk over black water, providing an exciting beginning, and extend through diverse environments. Visitors can enjoy a variety of wildlife, such as deer, rabbits, quail, blue herons, and even wild piglets. The preserve also has a picnic and camping area beside the lake, making it a great spot for outdoor activities. The trails are suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and geocaching, with some sections showing signs of recent weather and animal activity, like torn-up ground caused by wild boar. While the trails are generally peaceful and offer a chance to disconnect from everyday life, there is background noise from nearby I-4. Overall, Longleaf Pine Preserve is a well-maintained natural area that provides a fun and scenic experience for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

It has not rained so the grounds were not super wet. I am usually prepared for the wet ground so happy today was dry
