I have always been pleased with the customer service at Michael's, but today was a different story. One employee was exceptionally pushy. She raised her voice, accusing me of opening a box I wasn't opening, and then tried to chaperone me through the self check register. She also gave me incorrect information about a discount, which she corrected later but in a manner that was crass at best. Her overall demeanor was very uncomfortable, and frankly, it made me want to leave. Perhaps she didn't want to be there with it being Sunday, and she certainly made me feel the same. I almost wanted to tell her to take a break to color and get herself together. Just something to realign her with the role she takes on while serving customers. If she needs help or tools for emotional regulation, I will recommend a book. Matter of fact, I will do one better, let her know that the next time I come in to shop, I will be leaving a book with the manager to gift to her in hopes that it will assist her in identifying and regulating her emotions at work. She should take a break to color when she gets upset instead of shouting across a store.
I can't help but wonder if her behavior was due to my appearance, as I was wearing my painting clothes. It's an art store, after all, and I'm an artist.
Regardless, I politely told her that there was something about her that I didn't appreciate and upon exiting I let her know she made me uncomfortable doing what I do regularly with joy. I made a point to use a soft tone of voice, in hopes that she would be able to identify what a normal professional tone is. She replied sarcastically 'That's nice'.
It's a shame, because I love Michael's products, but I was shocked by her loud and unprofessional behavior. I found her to be strangely uncouth. Who yells across a store?
With love,
Erica Birch

When i went to this Michael’s, i felt complexed and was confused where many things were. I don’t quite remember but one of the managers, I watched being quite rude to customers and even her own coworkers. However, one of the workers / managers , Emma really helped me find anything i needed and was very sweet and patient. :)

This store has gone downhill. Customer service was abysmal. Worst purchasing and returning experience to any retail in recent memory. Bought items online and then tried to return to store. On two separate occasions the only way they could be returned was at a 50% reduction of the price I paid! No one working there seemed to care or try to resolve the issue. Just threw their hands up.

I visited Michaels recently, and the customer service was lacking. There was hardly anyone around to help, and when I did find someone, they weren’t very attentive. It was frustrating not being able to get the assistance we needed.

I run a small business. Im in Michaels quite a bit for supplies and today my son, accompanied by his sister, walked into the store inquiring about employment. The manager Kelly whom was the manager on duty, tells my son not to show up smelling like “Reefer”. The most inappropriate statement made to a child. My son is of mixed race, however he’s an honor roll student and has NEVER consumed smoke, of any kind. The woman came off as racist and aggressive. My son contacted me immediately upon leaving Michaels and I called the store with the utmost respect, asked for Kelly and informed her the call was being recorded, then explained the child she just racially profiled was my son and she hung up on me. I attempted to call back and my call was answered and left on hold. I’m disgusted with this behavior. Kelly is not fit for management at any franchise and I will be pursuing this issue.
