Avoid Gerber Collision in Destin – Dishonest, Unprofessional, and Unwilling to Help
Our car was rear-ended and USAA (who has been fantastic) accepted full responsibility, arranged for repairs, and even offered a lifetime warranty if we used one of their preferred shops. I chose Gerber Collision in Destin just down the road, called the same day, and set an appointment for the following week.
Before the appointment date, a police officer pulled us over because the damaged tail light was shorting in and out. He told us the car was not legally safe to drive. USAA had already approved a rental with no date restrictions, so we picked it up early and informed both the rental company and USAA (by email) of the situation.
The same day, Gerber left me a voicemail questioning why I got a rental “too early.” I called them right back to explain and was met with an abrasive, lecturing tone. I reiterated that USAA was aware and covering the rental.
When I arrived at Gerber Destin for the scheduled evaluation, I was told my appointment had been canceled by USAA. I called USAA from the lobby—another adjustor confirmed Gerber had canceled it, not USAA. While still on the phone with USAA (who offered to straighten things out immediately), I witnessed a defensive and contradictory conversation from Gerber’s staff. Ultimately, the front desk informed me they would refuse service altogether.
I remained calm and respectful, but their explanation never made sense—repeating vague lines about their “relationship” with USAA and the rental car timing. I agreed to have the car towed to another USAA shop.
Later, USAA told me Gerber claimed I had been “yelling, cursing, and aggressive,” which was completely false—and the USAA adjustor had been on the call the entire time to verify my behavior. USAA later admitted the rental confusion was due to my adjustor being on vacation and my email going unanswered—none of which was my fault.
Bottom line: Gerber Collision in Destin lied to my insurance company, refused to service my vehicle without cause, and tried to shift blame instead of helping. Thanks to USAA, my repairs are now being handled at another location, but I would never recommend trusting this shop with your car or your time.

I was sent to Gerber Collision by my insurance company after my 2017 Honda Civic was in an accident. The service by the team, Trish and Brandylynn, was exceptional! They took the time to communicate the process and were very up front about everything. The biggest challenge was their high volume of jobs. They were unable to diagnose my car until 3 weeks after the accident. I can not speak to their repair service since my car was deemed totaled, however as far as service goes, I highly recommend!

Stopped by for a quote, was quickly informed that they were not interested in writing one one, wasn’t happy just walked away at that point. Don’t suggest this shop, will be going to Mullin’s in Niceville.

I hate to leave this but I am beyond frustrated! Dropped off my car for a minor fender bender. Passenger doors got replaced fresh paint looks great. Two weeks go by both doors start having electrical issues. Windows not working right, door locks won’t unlock.
Got hit again! Hit the back end mentioned the door and window issues. Claimed the locks were working fine and the cleaned the windows and they were slow (it was not like that when I dropped it off prior to doors replaced). Said since the car is a 2015 these issues start to happen. So fork out money to replace parts. On the doors THEY replaced and all other doors are working fine.
Now the back hatch they worked on isn’t working right. I understand not wanting to take blame and things happen electronics start to go bad sure.
But only the parts they touched and claimed to repair for me?
I’m out money after my insurance claim closed and they could have put more effort into making sure these things were working properly specially when I told them if it’s a part that does need to be replaced, I will pay for it it’s fine. Just no

My insurance set me up with an appointment for estimate last Monday at 8:30am- on my way to the collision center the shop called me to tell me they couldn’t get to my car and needed to change my appointment to Friday.
I called Thursday to confirm the estimate for Friday and the lady told me they wouldn’t be able to get to my car Friday either and to find another repair shop.
They let me sit and wait for them all week instead of being upfront.
Very unprofessional and super rude. Don’t recommend doing business with them. I also let my insurance company know about this particular collision center.
