Normally I love this place, but I just had an extremely uncomfortable experience there. The guy who was working (probably 6 ft, white guy, with ginger blonde hair, a beard and thick black glasses), proceeded to almost attack me at the register. He grabbed my items and went to start scanning. I politely reminded him that it was self check out, and he said “oh ok”. Proceeded to stand uncomfortably close to me and watch me over my shoulder scan my items. He started pressing the buttons on the screen and I told him that I had it under control. He stopped touching the screen and just stared at me. I’m genuinely surprised he didn’t take my card out of my hand. He was so close I had to cover the number pad to put my pin in. As I was leaving, a young teenage black girl walked in with her mom. I saw through the glass he was texting on his phone for a few minutes, and when he finally looked up, he made a B-line for the black teenager and started following her. NOT OKAY. This needs to be addressed with him immediately. I’m a local and I shop here frequently, but if that situation isn’t handled I doubt I’ll be shopping there again anytime soon. Nobody wants to feel uncomfortable shopping.

Awesome store for preteen and teens. Very clean and organized. First time here today and we will definitely be back! Friendly staff as well!

Self checkout is not self check out. You wait in line for 1 of at least 3 self check out registers for a person to scan items for you. A process where a person in retail can take 30 seconds can take 3 minutes.. and still beg for a “9 “ star review. Because “we are made to scan item’s” I can tell you it’s been a decade since going into a 5 below, it will be the last. Only reason I popped in, was to find a random toy my 3 year old would give me 15 minutes while meeting a family friend. And I was getting a juice at the establishment next door.

Very cool store with sooooo much stuff in there. If you need snacks, phone chargers, sandals, candy, you name it they probably have it.
