Hawks Cay is the nastiest $ 1,000-a-night I’ve ever stayed at. We booked a two-bedroom villa, also known as a duplex. It was extremely filthy, outdated, and musty. I guess they think they can charge this because of the location. We spent over $3,400 here, including our fishing charter, and we won’t be back. The kid's area was probably nice 20 years ago; my kids, ages 11 and 13, started laughing when they saw the pirate ship pool and Coral Cay Kids Club. In under two minutes, they asked if we were ready to leave. “Hawks Cay Resort” catfish you with their “tiki beach area.” It is tiny and doesn’t go into the ocean. You can’t go into the ocean anywhere at this resort or the beach. To access the beach, it is a ten to fifteen-minute drive. No fishing; unless you charter, which we did, you can only stare at the Ocean. You have only their tiny, man-made little pond that smells like death. You can go on a kayak or paddle board around in a circle. If you are brave enough, you can go for a swim. You are trapped in the pond, similar to how they trap dolphins at this resort for “The Dolphin Experience.”$250 per person.
Now, onto the duplex. The carpet on the stairs is black, and it looks like it hasn’t been vacuumed in months. It’s so gross I don’t think I could tell anyway. I took my shoes off when I reached my bed. Also, the door to the second bedroom (my kid's bedroom) doesn’t shut at all; the door is too big (see attached video). My kids said they were scared to sleep here because it was dirty and gross.
Meanwhile, as we are all talking about how gross the place is, Maintenance knocks as soon as I open the door. He holds a gallon of bug spray with a nozzle and asks me, “Got bugs?” I tell him no; it isn’t us. And when I shut the door, the kids were even more afraid, but they also thought it was funny. The TV in the primary bedroom is probably about 30 inches. Whoever owns unit 5114 needs to remodel and put all the cash they are making into doing a deep clean and fixing standard stuff that shouldn’t be messed up. Like a door to a bedroom, it should shut, and it shouldn’t smell like someone died in there. Again, never coming back, and I feel completely ripped off.
We left two days early because we all felt tortured and ashamed that we were even staying here. Do yourself a favor and look at the pictures. You can tell this place is a dump. I’m embarrassed and won’t recommend this place to anyone. It should be called Hawks Cay Motel. I could go on and on. This place was built in the 1980s; not much has changed. What a joke! We will return to the Keys and drive by this place with pure disgust on our faces. It's time to shut down this place and do an extreme makeover. Our unit could have been nice; too bad it wasn't.

I thought it was going to be very good but when we got there half of the hotel did not work , then I purchase some stuff at a very high price and never deliver , when they send it to the villa it was not even nice like a 10 dollar toy . Villa was very old and beds were not confortable at all let’s not talk about the pillows .
Villa was clean I have to say . It’s not my style of hotel specially when you are paying top dollars
Safety: It did feel safe

Excellent location, amazing services and we all loved our mini break here. It was a central island to go either way up and down the keys if you have a car. Duck Key little island felt exclusive.
Rooms: Spacious and cleaned ever day.
Nearby activities: Dolphins and lots of pool areas to choose from. Fun water sports include in our daily rate fee.

Came here on our honeymoon thinking it would be a nice & peaceful place to stay. Little did we know it would be quite the opposite. During check in we were informed of additional resort fee charges that no one had mentioned before. After checking in to our room we had to ask the front desk to make sure we were in the right room (they said we were “upgraded” but personally it felt like a major downgrade) the room looks nothing like the pictures online, very outdated and the walls were PAPER THIN. Bed was extremely uncomfortable & could hear our neighbors slamming doors & talking all night long. The only “housekeeping” they did was make the bed, replace towels, and take out the trash. There was no soap in any of the bottles in the shower, the shower head was almost coming apart. Considering the resort fee that they charged, the TV barely worked & there were few channels you could watch. The pool was about the only nice thing. Drinks and food at Angler & Ale were extremely overpriced & just not that great. Would highly recommend venturing out of the resort for things to do/places to eat. Staff was not helpful. When checking out all of the luggage carts were chained up, and no one asked if we needed any assistance. They actually unchained one cart to help someone bring flowers in???? Overall not happy with our stay, will not be returning.

From the moment we got out of the car we were greeted with amazing service from Arno.
We came here for a few days after our wedding cruise as a honeymoon with some of our friends. I had no idea what to expect but pictures do not do this place justice.
Fransisco at the tiki bar provided outstanding service as well from the moment we sat down to when we left after our three day stay.
The food was great and the drinks were delicious.
Plenty of stuff to do around the resort and the golf cart transport being available 24 seven free of charge was probably one of the most convenient features at this resort. Also having an amazing lagoon to swim in and incredible views with a very clean facility made it even better.
Eat breakfast and watch the dolphins, swim with them or go book a fishing trip, it’s all easy and convenient at Hawks Cay.
We will surely be back!
Sixty one prime was close but angler & ale did not disappoint.

Amazing place to stay with some of the most gorgeous sunrises and views in general! Loved the sitting area to watch the sunrise, lagoon and the fire pit in the evening! Service was top notch!! I would say you can find better food/drinks and pricing outside of the resort. The food was not exceptional at all compared to the price of it. Enjoyed the adults only area and pool as it was a couple only getaway! I wish they would keep pool open later than 7pm or dusk that seemed a bit early to close it down! Overall a beautiful resort and we truly enjoyed our stay!!!!
Nearby activities: Nautica Watersports for Jet ski rentals was one of our favorite adventures during the trip! We also enjoyed Spirit Snorkeling to Sombrero Reef!!

Booked through costco. The photos didn't do the resort justice. Grounds are lovely and our room was clean. The desk staff was wonderful especially Ashley, who always greeted us warmly ever time we saw her. Though we weren't on the grounds much we enjoyed our stay very much.
Next time we will make it a point to schedule some off time to enjoy the facilities!
Rooms: Clean and roomy.
Nearby activities: In the middle of the keys just outside marathon.
Walkability: Large resort, can walk everywhere.

My stay at the resort was truly exceptional. The pools are stunning, providing the perfect place to relax and unwind. The Dolphin Connection, conveniently located on-site, made it a memorable experience to enjoy meals at the marketplace while watching the trainers interact with the dolphins.
Hawks Cay is a fantastic family resort with plenty of complimentary activities, including paddleboarding, crafts, tennis, and volleyball. They also have a wonderful gift shop with great finds to bring home.
While the entire staff was helpful, Donnie Needle stands out. With 30 years of experience at the resort, he was instrumental in making our stay a five-star experience. His deep knowledge of both the resort and the surrounding area, along with his warm and caring personality, truly made a difference. The food on the resort was good, but since we had a car, we took Donnie's dining recommendations—and we were not disappointed!
Overall great 1st in the keys and glad we started here!

As I read the bad reviews and the response by management, it sickens me even more. I wasn’t going to write a review but after seeing their pathetic responses, they deserve a bad review. First as many mentioned, to pay $20 for any drink at a bar (especially down there, and this is not a 5 star hotel by far) is downright ridiculous. My wife and I got 2 drinks when we first arrived and paid $50 for both. They’ve done absolutely nothing to address this concern by many. Second, the rooms are outdated and are left without proper maintenance. The fan in the living room and our master room didn’t even work, one didn’t even turn on! Are you kidding me. Lamps in the living room are tilted. TVs that are small as heck in every room and it’s not even 1080 quality with poor Xfinity service. And last but not least, is the fact that we paid about $500/night AND they’re not even faithful enough or transparent to let their guests know in advance there’s another $55/night for basic amenities such as bikes and INTERNET, is that a joke!? And no I’m kidding I’ve included a pic for all to see. We don’t have a problem paying $500 a night however it needs to meet the standards for quality and fairness to the customers. Sad that the location is great and they’re ripping off their guests.

Due to Hurricane Milton, our trip was cut very short.
