I’ve been going to Dick Carroll’s for 15 years. They are wonderful and I completely trust them and would never go anywhere else!

When I went to Dick Carroll Inc., they told me I needed:
• $970 for brakes and rotors
• $165 for a brake flush
• $88 for two cabin filters they said were “filthy”
• That my battery was “marginal”
• And then asked me, “How are your wipers?” (which I replaced 6 months ago)
At first, I said yes — because I did need brakes, and I trusted them.
But after I hung up the phone, something didn’t sit right. I looked up pricing and immediately realized I was being overcharged.
I knew something was wrong when they wanted to upsell me on everything — flushes, filters, battery, and wipers.
I called back and said I didn’t have the money right now. That’s when the price dropped to $850. I said no.
Then he said, “We can just do the front for $450.” Again, I said no.
In the meantime, I called around and found a family-owned shop in Clearwater that’s been in business 40 years. They got me in right away — no pressure, no scare tactics, no upsell.
They did the exact same job:
• Akebono brake pads and rotors
• A full brake flush
• Guaranteed work
• $795.04 out the door (yes, I have the receipt)
Maybe the filters were dirty. Maybe the battery is borderline. I don’t know.
But I do know this: when a long list of “urgent” problems stacks up, followed by price drops, it doesn’t feel like a safety consult — it feels like a sales pitch.
Women: trust your gut. Ask questions. Don’t be afraid to pause and check around.
Dick Carroll made me feel like a target.
The shop I ended up with made me feel respected.

I have found Mr Carroll, To Explain What He Going To Do, The Reasons and The Cost, He and his Company have taken very good care of our 2019 Kia Sportage,I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Dick Carrolls is a first class operation. They treat there customers with respect and will always give you there honest opinion when it comes to maintenance or a repair...... I've been going there for years and wouldn't trust anyone else......

Dick Carroll went above and beyond to diagnose our air conditioning issue and check engine light for an exhaust issue. He let us know that the exhaust issue might be covered under warranty (we were unaware anything was still under warranty for this used car - only 2000 miles under the max.). He even called the Ford dealer service dept. for us and he followed up a week later to see how we made out. Dick Carroll Auto in Dunedin FL is a pleasure to work with...very nice, honest, thorough and we will be using them for all our auto repairs going forward.

I had a battery installed by another shop and they put a TON of vasline on the connections. Apparently this caused the battery not to connect to the alternator so it couldn't charge. I brought my car to Dick Carroll expecting it to be another couple hundred dollar repair at the least because I have had nothing but issues. They just cleaned the terminals for me, and charged me the minimum shop fee. I know NOTHING about cars and they could have easily taken me for a ride saying I needed additional work and/or parts. The integrity of the shop is why I will never take my car anywhere else. They didn't see a single Mom with no car knowledge and see dollar signs. They just did what needed to be done.

Always been treated fair and professionally. This last experience was especially great because my car was fixed and no charge was required. Although it was a simple fix,most anyone would have charged a minimum fee! Thanks guys!!!

Richard and his dad rest in peace have always treated us right fair pricing extremely good work nice people they seem glad to see you when you come in I bought a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and I've been going to the dealership since 2017 now the dealership wants in and around $120 for an oil change and Richard charged me 60 and checked out the rest of my car for a long road trip

Unlike other mechanics I've dealt with in the past, they didn't try to upsell unnecessary repairs or inflate the bill. Moreover, the pricing was incredibly reasonable for the quality of work and attention to detail provided. I left feeling confident in the repairs and grateful for finding such a trustworthy auto mechanic.
