We bring our rescue here for training. We were so impressed that we got a puppy. We love our rescues but they come with issues. It is completely different experience when your puppy has been raised in an enrichment center with the best of love and care. If you are in the market for a puppy, you got check them out!

We got our girl at 4 months not knowing or understanding her abusive past. Kitty, a Cane Corso could not live her life in fear or the fear aggression she was showing. Litterly shaking and cowering in the car as Hagen coaxed her out patiently. She has successfully completed socialization and basic leash training and has become a confident well behaved beautiful young lady!! We cannot express enough how Hagen, Michael and Chrissi have helped not only Kitty but us as owners become more confident and comfortable in the world where canines and humans coexist. We highly recommend this training program for anyone that needs help teaching their fur family the world is not as scary as sometimes portrayed by previous owners or experiences. Forever grateful!!

After lots of research on the breed, our family decided to place a deposit on a German Shepherd puppy in early 2020. Little did we know that Covid would strike, making socialization for a young pup so difficult. We did everything we could to ensure that our young GSD would be properly socialized, from taking him with us to the beach, to bringing him with us to Home Depot, walks in the park and around our neighborhood, etc. However, when Covid took a turn for the worst, public beaches closed and public places had higher restrictions on how many people could be in one area at any given time (much less their pets). We continued training with our breeder, only assuming that this was another great method of socialization. In retrospect, litter mates aren’t the greatest form of socialization without the elements of new people, places, or unfamiliar dogs. Fast forward to 2023… we had a dog with lots of anxiety and energy, a dog we could not manage on walks, and a dog that knew his commands but refused to listen to them. This was when we searched for a dog trainer. After several evaluations and interviews with other dog trainers in the area, we settled upon VHK-9 to entrust with this very well loved member of our family! We wanted our dogs best interest at heart, and that was exactly what Hagen and his staff promised. Our boy spent several months away at VHK-9. We came to train as often as we were able (which for our family was 1-2 times per week). After some time we began training in public and the differences we saw were unreal. Our anxious, unsure, over-excited dog was now walking more confidently, was more responsive to his commands, and was no longer pulling us around by his leash. Other behaviors around the house improved as well, such as his need to constantly “show dominance” to our female boxer or to charge the front door any time he saw someone walking by outside. Now he not only leaves our female alone, but also plays gently with our smallest puppy who is toy sized. We were pleased that our boys spirit was not broken. His behavior with our children has remained 100% sweet and loving and his goofy personality remained in tact. The only thing missing from the dog we left with VHK-9 is the bad behaviors and some time spent away from home. We are so pleased with the training our dog received at Van Hendrix K-9 and we know where to go if we ever want to further his training to an even higher level.

My family recently adopted a German Shepherd from Van Hendrix K9, and she has absolutely changed their lives only within a week of having her. She needed a loving and caring home for some time now, but Hagen and his staff cared for her and gave her the attention as well as the training skills in the meantime. My sister was looking for an adult dog who would be a best fit for her current lifestyle, and I knew this dog was the perfect one as soon as I met her. I can’t give enough thanks to the staff for helping us tremendously through the process of rehoming her to us. They knew from the start that she would be a great fit for us. They are extremely knowledgeable and positive people who have a genuine passion for what they do. I highly recommend Van Hendrix K9 to anyone looking for training and/or puppies!!!

I was lost, my Bella a chocolate lab was aggressive to other animals, for my last resort I called Van Hendrix. He transformed her totally. I loved all the trainer's. Come to find out us humans needed to understand, if we love our animals, then learn to speak their language, so they are able to live in our world happy. Thank you all.Marlene and Bella

I've had dogs my entire life, the two most recent GSDs from Hagen and Van Hendrix K9, and I've known Hagen for 15 years. If there is such a thing as a dog whisperer, Hagen is it. I've never seen dogs respond to a human as well as they do Hagen (and his very capable staff!). He and his staff develop a relationship with them, understand them when they are solo or in a group, and are able to train the most aggressive animal to just the most stubborn. They truly care for all the dogs in their charge and it shows. In our case, he and the staff have always been there for us when we wanted quality insight, assistance or training for our two incredible German Shepherds, from puppy to full grown.

My wife and I were having troubles with our Belgian Malinois puppy and after considerable research we decided on Van Hendrix K9 for help. After meeting Hagen and his staff, we were immediately set at ease.Hagen and his team are extremely knowledgeable and compassionate towards all of his client’s needs. They were able to work wonders with any issues at hand. We felt confident and reassured in choosing them.Unfortunately, we were not able to adapt to our Mali's lifestyle; but Hagen personally chose a very loving, smart, and beautiful German Shepherd puppy that can grow and be a part of our family. We trust in VHK9 that our dog will be safe and in good hands with any issues that we may have in the future.

I have been taking my Belgian malinois over to the facility several months now. When I got her, I didnt really know what I was getting. She had some behavior issues that came from bad breeding and not proper socialization with mom(dog). She become aggressive and reactive with anyone or anything that came to close. She was unnecessarily guarding. She became untrustworthy walking her in public. Since working with Hagen and his trainers my girl has become a completely different dog. She is socializing with other dogs, she has come to learn that she doesnt have to guard. She has learned all her commands and does them well. I have become a stronger handler and leader that she isn't aggressive when we pass people, she is now just a dog being a dog. They not only transformed my dog into a confident dog, they worked with me to become a confident leader. They have done great job with her and with me. I have a completely different mindset dog and the best part is that they only use positive reinforcement. I am very pleased and highly recommend.

Words can’t describe what these trainers have done for my dog and I. After 4 trainers, and wasted money, I thought it was just a matter of time until my dog would attack someone, due to his fear aggression. This was the first time a trainer has EVER understood and explained to me why my dog acted the way he did. And TRULY understood my situation. I decided to try one more trainer and THANK GOD I did. From the day I came to visit the farm, I knew my dog would be in good hands. I had to move across the country at short notice and leave my dog in training and I couldn’t have chosen a better place for him. The fact that I was oceans away, and they always kept in contact and gave updates on theos progress. Should be the perfect example on why you should choose them. They showed my dog that he can trust people again. That he can be around other dogs, without having to show dominance. He was is even amazing around the ducks at the park! If you asked me a year ago, if you could meet my dog, I would instantly say no. Because, of how aggressive he was towards anyone new. Now I have my sweet loving boy that everyone loves to meet! I literally can’t thank them enough for what they did for my dog. I I wish I would have found them sooner! Don’t think twice about these programs for your dog. Just do it and thank me later!

DO NOT TRUST WITH YOUR DOG!! My dog was brought there on a Tuesday and he "escaped" Wednesday by supposedly jumping 3 - 6 foot fences. I called 1 hour after the incident and was told he was doing fine. 15 hours later, on Thursday, I received a call telling me that my dog was missing. (Something I should have been told 16 hours before when I called!) It took 5 days for me, family and friends - and a lot of wonderful people from Palatka who helped in our search - to find our sweet boy! We live 3 hours away and the search cost quite a bit of money. I have tried reaching out to him to comply with the arbitration agreement, but to no avail. He provides NO RESPONSE to my certified letter. He accepts no responsibility. He has NO "WORKING" CAMERAS on property - which is very convenient for him. His biggest concern was not finding my dog but was very upset that people were posting negative comments on his FB page. This happened a year ago. I have been trying to work this out amicably but at this point, I just feel a responsibility to share my experience so others don't make the same mistake by trusting him or his staff. I got lucky and found my dog - but no thanks to Van Hendrix K-9!!
