The best blueberries EVER.

I'm disappointed with King Grove Organic Farm blueberries. My boxes of blueberries are unripened and flavorless.Because of Dan Barber's recommendation, the 3-Michelin Star chef from Blue Hill at Stone Barns, I thought these blueberries would be the best blueberries I've ever tasted. This was not the case. King Grove Organic Farm blueberries do not taste better than your average supermarket blueberries. Sure, supermarket blueberries are grown with pesticides, are non-organic, and are bitter. So what do King Grove Organic Farm blueberries taste like? I'm stumped. If pressed I'd say they taste like "nothing." Really, there's texture but no flavor whatsoever. They are not sweet either. I only give these blueberries two stars instead of one because they are organic and grown without pesticides.Check out the photo of the unripened blueberry. It is green on the inside. These berries were packed and shipped before they were ripened on the vine. Ripened blueberries have a short shelf life, hence why visitors to the farm who pick their own blueberries give King Grove Organic Farm good reviews. This wasn't the case with my blueberries. Sure, I could coax more flavor by baking them with added sugar and fat but the blueberry flavor with still be faint.I emailed a farmer in Maine who harvests wild blueberries. This is what he said when I asked him why blueberries have no flavor -"I can fix your blueberry quality problems. The fresh blueberries you are getting are hybrids, no flavor. The agribusiness blueberries you are getting, low quality, poorly handled, covered in toxicity, and irrigated. Irrigated wild blueberries have no flavor."So what's the solution? On the farm, if blueberries are allowed to ripen to full maturity in the sun, and picked they will have more intense blueberry flavor. I live in NYC and bought these blueberries at Baldor supermarket. Maybe too these blueberries are hybrids like all the others and the only solution is to buy wild blueberries. I don't have the solution. I only see the problem.King Grove Organic Farm can do better. Tsk tsk to Daniel Barber for his recommendation. Perhaps he got the best, ripened blueberries and the rest of us get the average product. This happens frequently in the restaurant industry. Chefs get the best. Consumers get the rest. If you live in Florida, and you pick these sun ripened blueberries yourself, I can see why they are recommended but based on my box of blueberries? Not recommended.

Stopped by to pick up our blueberries this morning and noticed they sell blueberry tea! That’s new. Got some to try, and was I surprised.I was expecting a floral, herbal like tea, but no. It’s more like a black tea. Color a shade darker than Lipton, and a strong tea taste. I added a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice which balanced out the flavor and it was yummy!! Going to make a batch of iced tea tomorrow.Thank you Lisa for the great tea and blueberries. See you soon.

Five pounds of blueberries recently arrived at our front door in Illinois. Five pounds! For two people. And they were gone in about ten days. Gone. I originally thought we might freeze a few bags, but no, we gobbled them all up, because they are so addictively delicious! The first thing I should mention was how perfect each one was. Perfectly packed. Perfectly plump. Perfectly ripe. Not a single stem, not a single soft or wet berry. We did not lose one blueberry. It was the f
