I've had my unit for over 13 years when i only planned on having it 6 months. First month was 1.00. 99.00 mo after that for several years. paid thru auto pay. About 8 years ago they started acting like the USPS raising their rates every year. i receive a post card in mail stating rate increase, effective date, and new amount. I'd call 1800 number to complain, where's the loyalty, i'm a widow on disability with cancer (all true) and they'd keep it at rate i was paying until about 4 years ago. Rate increased to 169.00. when i called 1800 number they told me to call my store. i did and they just refered me back to home office. They wouldn't lower it this time, however it didn't increase for couple years. Got my post card Jan. 2022 saying it was increasing to 209.00. Can't afford 169 to begin with but 209 is way too much. so i call 1800 and they gave me a 6 mo loyalty grace period at 169 to Aug 2022. i figured i'd have some resolution to dilemma and be able to remove stuff by then. i was wrong. its been a constant struggle to pay that bill. My water and electric are always in jeopardy and have been turned off. 2 months ago i could not pay my bill and i was told if it wasn't paid by such n such date my stuff would be auctioned off. it hadn't even been a whole month. i didn't pay a couple bills to pay this one. i called 1800 who refered me to my store and they said they couldn't lower it because i already received a loyalty grace period. i said there's storage places on every corner around here. ya'll used to not have all this competition. it's easy for someone to say, give it up, let it all go, throw it away, call Amvets to pick it up......i'd probably say the same to someone else in my situation, but its mine and my husband's items I had to move from our home when he died. i have gotten rid of 1/3 of it but not ready to part with rest. i have finally made provisions to exit out of the unit. i just can not pay the bill one more month and i can't lose my stuff. i hadn't been inside my unit in 4 years . my friend and i went to see how much stuff i had to move. To my surprise it's about half to 2/3 full. But what upset me was many boxes had fallen forward like somebody. In the back unit hit the wall and made the boxes fall forward. then when I looked up I noticed on the right and left hand sides at top of walls in the back there was a space a body can fit through. I can climb up there and get through the wall space into other unit. I was not happy about that at all. I'm not saying that happened, I'm just saying it could. I don't understand why they have a beam part of the way and then there's a vacancy in the back part on both sides. one thing i do like a whole lot is being able to open the gate with the app. now that is awesome. Especially since I got stuck inside one night and couldn't get out. I kept putting the code in but it wouldn't let me out. the sheriff office came and said, What are we supposed to do. I said I don't know. I told him to put in the code in the box on his side. it finally let me out. my cousin was going to leave a trailer there for me to pack all the stuff in and then he was gonna come pick it up and they said absolutely not. i said I'm not stupid, I know i can't put it in front of the storage units and block them but I could put it on the end Or on the side. thry said there's no parking spaces available. i said, what about the side area where the trees are where people park all the time. they said no or i'da been out of there 2 mo aho. you can't use their dumpsters either to throw things away that you don't want. moral of the story, prepare for rate increases, don't store valuables in those non secure places, and only possess what you use on a daily basis cause it can be taken from you in an instant and furthermore when you are dead and gone 99% o

LACK OF COMMUNICATION! Can’t get hold of property manager after leaving multiple voicemails. Everything is virtual (No one in the office), but the problem is if you move out, they are still trying to collect your next month’s rent! And no one answer your question because it all goes to properly manager’s voicemail. Suggestion: let’s at least have someone in the office for the move-out, so no one get charged after vacating the storage.

I tried to rent an 8' x 10' unit at their Fern Park location. I paid them $147.80 at the office and got a combination and directions to the actual unit. When I opened the door, it looked very small... a tape measure confirmed it was not 8 x 10 but only 5 x 10. That wasn't what they claimed they were renting me and it wasn't going to be enough. The woman at the office gave me a number to call and the people at that number just gave me a runaround. Eventually, I had to just dispute the charge with VISA. After VISA reversed the charge, these crooks referred my bill to a low-end collection agency.Public Storage is crooked and deceitful. They make fraudulent representations of their units and have the gall to refer someone to collections after the credit card company has legitimately reversed their charges.INSIST ON INSPECTING ANY UNIT BEFORE YOU RENT IT. DON'T TRUST ANYTHING THESE LIARS SAY. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I was able to set everything up online. This made my move in very hassle free. Controlling the gate with my phone is so convenient too.
