Nassau Humane Society is a wonderful, no-kill nonprofit animal shelter and adoption facility. It is a smaller shelter where dogs and cats are kept in clean runs and cages. The staff and volunteers are friendly, nice, professional, and genuine, with the best interest of the animals in mind. The adoption process is smooth. They know their animals well, providing accurate descriptions and saving them from overcrowded shelters. All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. The shelter also offers volunteer and foster programs and a community food bank. People are encouraged to help by bringing food and supplies from the wish list to care for the wonderful animals until they find their forever home.
I have gone here before and dropped off food supplies for cats. I just lost my cat of 19 years and I don't think I'm ready for another just yet. I know a lot of them need homes badly. The staff is really nice.
