The store at Ft Lauderdale airport #1640 by Southwest B gate needs better customer service. The woman working in the store is rude, extremely slow and unhelpful. I had an issue at the self checkout and an extremely long line started forming due to her lack of response. When I asked for help, she told me to hold on. I waited for a very long period of time and had a flight to catch. She thought her time was more important than the customers trying to catch flights.

Forced to use self checkout even though I was only customer in store and the cashier was standing at her register with no customers. She said if I'm using a card I need to use self checkout. Ridiculous. Self service should be optional. Prices are high enough to provide a little service.

I don't know why Hudson News has such poor reviews. And I also don't want/need to know. For what I went in for (a snickers lol because I needed chocolate and my flight is delayed) was enough for me! There are four self-checkout stations and I'm grateful for them because sometimes you just don't feel like interacting with a cashier. The cashier who was present, while directing people to the self-checkout was pleasant. So kudos to them for good customer service. Hudson News has all the things that a typical convenience store would- from books to medication to headphones to neck pillows, you name it. I'd return because at some point I'll need something.

Hudson News has convenience stores (airport concession stores) in most major airports, so it's a known entity for frequent flyers. Actually the parent company of Hudson News, is the world's largest operator of airport newsstands. There are about 1,000 Hudson, Hudson News, Hudson Booksellers, cafes, specialty retail and duty-free shops in 87 airports and transportation terminals in the United States and Canada. They specialize in books, magazines, electronics, travel gadgets, snacks, prepared foods, candies, souvenirs and such. They have partnered with national brands like Disney, Brookstone and Sunglass Hut to sell their items in their stores with nice large displays. This particular store at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airport is pretty large and well stocked. The lady behind the counter was busy chatting with a friend the whole time I was in the store, so I did not get a good feel about the customer service interaction. Here you can grab pretty much anything you might need or you might have forgotten before getting onboard.

2-16-23Just a heads up if you are going to travel by aircraft you no longer can plan ahead for magazine and reading materials. They too are getting non existent in the drugstore and supermarkets. No one talks about this shortage which is occurring. Therefore you have to buy that stuff here. They have a superb selection. This visit I got a couple magazines one the last People for my educational material on what is truly happening in the world. The other a decorating book for Kitchens and Baths so I can plan ahead for my latest project. They have a tremendous selection of snacks and drinks but I refrained to indulge this trip.

Probably the best curated airport bookstore I have ever been in (and I have been in a lot). Small but carefully selected. Books I love are next to books that, when I skimmed them, I will likely love too. I spent an hour in the corner where they have "biography" and "fiction". Very well done!

If you're going to cut staff and out machines in make sure they work. Go check Publix, Safeway, hEB and number of self serve checks to see what you should be installing. Your check out pint is overly complicated and the past 3 times olive used it hasn't worked always asking for a worker to come assist. You've cut your staff to the bone to the pint where there's no one to come. Your overly inflated prices should come with less a regular experience

It was super packed, with over 15 customers in line when I arrived, and only one employee at the counter. She was rushing the best she could, and still managed to be super nice and polite. So a 5 for her, but 1 star for the manager who thought it was appropriate to have her working alone.

This is such a cute little bookstore. Great for book-lovers who just want to roam the shelves and find interesting reads! I love that they have a separate upper floor for poetry, and that they encourage you to stop and sit and read a book. They also have a lot of spotlighted books and staff recommendations that I feel like I can actually take seriously. If only I had more time to explore when I was here!

This may not be the oldest bookstore in Fort Lauderdale but it's certainly the most famous. Sure, there's also dog the Dog Eared and Green Apple bookstore, but this is my review and as far as I'm concerned this is the most famous, especially considering it's contribution to the beat movement.

I was looking for a cold drink to bring on my flight. It really sucks the airports jack up the prices because they know we have no choice. I chose water since I am diabetic and diet soda is not my thing. I like my water ice cold and these waters were nowhere near that. I mean we are in Florida! Besides the zombie passengers roaming around slowly, it was a good experience. I then realized I forgot headphones at home. I cannot tell you how many I have! I decided to browse the massive variety they had here. While I was browsing and waiting to board my plane, a staff member approached me asking if I needed help. I don't think I have ever been assisted without prompting in an airport! I was kind of caught off guard so I was rambling about how I left my headphones and I know nothing about all these fancy ones. I'm sure he thought I was weird lol. I intended to purchase water so I headed to the fridge. So the fridge is a display refrigerator, which means no door. Not only was the was water warm from that but also the fridge was not cold; it was lukewarm. That pisses me off. I mean if you are not going to have the drinks enclosed with a door, at least bump down the temperature at least 20 degrees. I didn't even drink the water on my flight! Grrrr! I check out and the cashier (Gloria) was very welcoming and friendly. She did not look like she hated life and actually was attentive to customers. The service here is way better than the merchandise or prices. They do have everything in this store though. Books, magazines, drinks, souvenirs, snacks, accessories, toys, clothing.

We stopped into Hudson News for a Florida magnet. We ended up finding one that was for Fort Lauderdale specifically with an anchor on it which seemed appropriate since we were here for a cruise. Happy about this choice! We had to stand in a line for maybe 3 minutes, and service was friendly and quick. Prices were middle of the road to high, but it's an airport so it's not unheard of. $6 for a magnet, $2 for mentos, eh â€The store was clean and well organized and they had toys for kids as well as plenty of souvenirs and magazines/books for adults looking for distractions during a flight. :)
