This is a review of the service I recieved after booking directly, for a full week..(months ago) and why I ended up cancelling my reservation. When one reads the responses to negative reviews, you get the sense that the manager truly cares about the guest experience. After booking, I recieved a thank you email, and an offer to email or call with any questions. I did not go overboard. I emailed with 2 questions that were never answered. I called only once, to be connected with an unfriendly voice of a woman who sounded like she hated her job. I asked if there were restaurants within walking distance. She couldn't provide an answer.. Needless to say, I like feeling excited about going on vacation, not skeptical. So I canceled..Maybe it would have been great? I'll never know.As a side note, the gratuity system seems awkward to me. I realize its included...but I imagine many people unknowingly tip on top of that..this leaves those that don't tip extra with the feeling that you may get inferior service the next time..perhaps they should just pay their staff better instead of making the guest pay twice..

Lam has been such an exceptional guest services agent. When our flight was cancelled due to the nor’easter hitting Boston this afternoon he went above and beyond to accommodate us and ensure we were able to stay in our room an extra night (even though he did not have to).The outstanding kindness and accommodation of all staff has made a significant impact on our experience and we will absolutely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pelican Grand Resort in Fort Lauderdale. From the moment of our arrival, the staff exhibited exceptional friendliness and professionalism. Despite our early arrival, our room was prepared promptly, offering us a stunning oceanfront view that exceeded expectations. The cleanliness of the hotel was commendable, and we found the dining experience at the restaurant to be superb. The beach access, particularly the VIP option with reserved pool and beach amenities, added significant value to our stay. We must highlight Adam, a member of the beach staff, whose outstanding service and kindness contributed immensely to our enjoyment. Excellent hotel, great food, the best servers. The Thanksgiving Day buffet was Fabulous! We travel a lot and we can definitely say Brian Toye is one of the Best Concierge we've all met!Rooms: Beautiful immaculate rooms.

We stayed here with our family in a suite a while back. My only regret is that we stayed somewhere else instead of here again on our last trip. The Pelican was top-notch. The service, food, and water activities were excellent as you expect from a resort.

We went to Easter brunch. COMPLETE RIP OFF. They charged 105$ a head for brunch buffet. The choice were pathetic. Terrible oysters. Tastes roast beef. Stale croissants.Old sushi. Cold French toast. Totally and utterly disappointing. I felt ripped off. There was zero effort in the buffet. They charge 22% gratuity. The waiters were horrible and one had attitude when we asked for cutlery. Waited 20 minutes for a BLACK COFFEE. When we arrived the valet literally told us to park our own car as the valet was full. Totally annoyed. We were 6 people the bill came to 847.00$. I have no problem paying for a great meal and great experience. This was absolutely not the case. They rely on the fact that they’re on the beach and people will come. The service has gone into the garbage here. We’re literally ate in Miami and tried a tasting menu 2 nights before for 70$ a head and the meal was not even in the same stratosphere. I never wrote reviews. I’m so frustrated. I just had to. DO NOT EAT HERE.

An overrun place that looks good from the outside. Too many people, no control over who's entering and leaving the hotel, and spotty valet service. The lobby is not all cats, and the bathrooms are not kept clean. Probably needs to be renovated. Not really a "luxury" experience.Good ocean views, and convenient on the beach, but no bars for restaurants anywhere nearby or within a walking distance.Walkability: Nothing really within walking distance.

My husband (Christopher Bristol) chose your resort for our wedding night. The resort was beautiful, unfortunately you seem to be a charge happy resort. He booked and paid for the room through a third party, upon arrival the resort obviously “had to have a card on file” which has now been charged 3 separate full night stay transactions for a room that was already paid for prior to arrival. He went to the resort on Friday to try and correct this and was clearly told they see the error and would have it corrected (Not to mention upon check in the clerk made a point to say “Ohh wait, I see that you paid already.” We wasn’t sure what that meant, but now we see whatever “oops” he noticed, he didn’t correct.Needless to say, this morning his account was yet again charged over $400 (so now we have an estimated charge of $650, $540, and now $480 for a ONE night stay for a room that was fully paid prior to arrival). In addition, our family called ahead and ordered a bottle of wine, fruit and cheese platter that was to be in the room. Luckily they checked in and asked if we had any special arrangement in the room or this problem would not have been corrected—the wine and platters were never delivered! She had to call back and complain in which it was them delivered approximately 9pm.I know there are resort fees that add up to about $150, oh let me not forget the $5 snicker bar we had, but after these fees, my husband has been charged approximately $2,100 for a one night stay. Although this is his second trip to the resort to correct the obvious error on your side, it seems to be a joke to your company rather than a priority of correcting the problem.Nearby activities: Beach front

Can anyone let me know about restaurants in this hotels area? I have emailed the hotel twice now from the UK and not had any response back which then makes me worry that we are booked into this hotel… I’m seeing reviews are great, but this is my husbands surprise 60th birthday and I’m wanting to find out places before we fly here.. any help would be great thanks

We regret staying here. While the location is great, the 4 pm check in “guarantee” listed in their website FAQ is a lie, there is no guarantee. The ice maker on our floor didn’t work, the complimentary waters were nowhere to be found, one of our room keys didn’t work and they ran out of beach towels. They also said they upgraded our room, but actually didn’t. While individually nothing major, overall not the experience we are used to at a 4 star hotel that costs this much.Edit: Thank you TJ for taking the time to ctrl c, ctrl v/chatGPT in response to the shortcomings. While there is little chance we will be back, I do accept your apology, I guarantee it!

Had a great vacation, walking into the lobby and it Smelled luxurious I would love to know what cleaners or diffuser is used! The room was beautifully made and clean and the beach access was perfect. The live music was wonderful to enjoy as well

I was staying one night for quick getaway. The valet attendants were all very nice. The women with the short wavy bob at check in was so rude, stone cold and miserable. No smile just checked us in, we asked about late check out and she just let us know it was based on availability. We use capital one points and she didn’t even go over what the perks were. I stayed at property in Wynwood and the staff actually took the time to go over all of the perks. We were on the 7th floor, the room was nice, we had a city view. The hot water took a while to work. The staff on the elevator was always friendly, we took the service elevator a few times. Breakfast was mediocre. The beach is beautiful and it was the highlight of our stay. The place needs a little face lift, it has a lot of potential. Power washing the dining area, friendlier check in associates and improvement in food options.
