If you need to rent a storage unit, stay away from @PublicStorage. Their "customer service" is some of the worst I've ever experienced. I was renting a unit at their location just west of I-95 off of Sunrise in Fort Lauderdale. It was supposed to be climate controlled but was not. The light bulb had burned out and was not replaced. I didn't have time to wait for them to get a replacement and a person and ladder to remedy that, so I never had light in the unit. As a result of the heavy rains in mid-April, the facility was flooded. I received an email the next day (4/14) letting me know that I needed to set up an appointment to come and check on my unit, but after 4/19. On 4/20 I called but only got their voice mail, so I left a message. Never got a call back. On 4/27 I paid my May rent. On 4/28 I rode my bicycle the 6.4 miles to the facility, even though I didn't have an appointment. I was told that the facility was closing and that I had until 5/13 to remove my belongings. They would not cover the cost of moving unless I rented another unit from them. I was also told that they were not accepting rent payments for May. After explaining that I already paid, I was told to contact customer service. Their chat told me to go back to the facility manager, so I tried calling. Their phone service told me (after jumping through a lot of hoops to actually speak with a live person) that I would automatically get a refund once May started. (This never happened.) On 5/3 I rented a U-Haul truck and moved my belongings out (most of the stuff was OK, but I did suffer about $1300 in damages - mostly books and DVDs). The manager gave me the contact info for the regional manager who could get me my refund. I wrote him that night but never got a response. On 5/11 I contacted customer service through chat and was told that my (prorated) refund was authorized and I should receive it within 10-14 business days. After ten business days I contacted them again and was told that it will take 6-8 weeks, which is their norm. I asked if there was a way to expedite this given the circumstances and was asked to hold and then told it would be expedited. When I asked how long it would take, I was told 6-8 weeks. Of course, I pointed out that this was not, in fact, expediting anything and asked to contact someone higher up. I was told to call customer service, which I did. After ten minutes of trying to negotiate their automated system (there is actually no option to speak with a live person in their menu), I reached a live person who told me that it would take 6-8 weeks and that there was nothing they could do. I again asked to speak to someone higher up and was transferred to someone else who said she could refer me to a regional manager who may be able to help me. I asked that this person contact me regardless of the outcome. I have still not heard back. Now, at every point the person I was dealing with apologized for the inconvenience, but apologies without actually trying to help are just a form of manipulation. So, they seem to have a "customer service" practice of non-communication, passing the buck, and lying. All this for close to $200/month for a 5'x10' unit.

Took someone here to put items in storage. The first night we were unaware the gate closes at 9pm. We were 2-3 minutes late. When you try to punch in a code it gives a message to access after hours to call a 1-800 number which we did only to have the rep tell us they do not have access to open the gates after hours.The next day we learned our lesson send returned earlier. Their unit is located to the far back corner. There was a dumpster located in the area but it seems as everyone missed the dumpster when they are throwing away items they did not want…even though the dumpster was almost full. There was furniture and mattresses left to the side. It kind of looked like a dump.This location is also located right next to a train track. I was standing outside while the train sped by and it scares the heck out of me!!!Not sure if I would use this location for my own storage, but I am sure they might have competitive prices.

Mark the manager is amazing! Our unit was left open by mistake. He called us and we were able to get over there quickly and close it before any issues. Feel better knowing he’s there

Bryanna was really Friendly, welcoming at walk in and detail to me how it all works at public storage...it was great with the Explanation she gave...the breakdown and all fees.Thanks look fowsrd to continue storing with public storage..

What started out as the best deal in town at $219 a month, QUICKLY went up to $259 in less than 5 months...., when I asked , I was told that based on the economic demand on units , and based on the inflation it went up !! They tell you they inform you in a Email, but it's just a different number in your regular monthly statement , that can be easily overlooked; furthermore, in less than 11 months my rate then increased to $302.00, that's an $83.00 increase ..... Beware beware beware!!!

The sole thing that lead to this 5 star review is the customer service that I received from the Property manager at this facility. Mrs. Laquana you made my day a lot easier by explaining to me the rental process and taking the time to just have a goodAttitude. I know you were dealing with so much during the time of our interaction but you handled it with grace. Public storage/ that location is LUCKY to have you. I’d hire you in a heartbeat!

Lala is the best she is very friendly and understanding she had so much patience with my situation and took the time out to be understanding to my matter . If it wasn’t for her I probably would of gone crazy she is a great person to have in your company!!
