Old car 61,000 miles. French fries between seat and console. Low engine oil light was on and they still told me to take the car. Felt like I was at one of those discount off airport rental companies.

Engine change oil warning was on when I picked up the vehicle. Windshield and rear window, very dirty. Windshield had sticky tape that had not been removed.

Was sent to pick up my car in the garage, walked around looking for the spot only to find it didn’t exist. I was sent back in and was told to go to another spot, we went there but the car that was there wasn’t the one we were assigned so we go back in and the desk worker says “yeah I changed the car” apparently we were supposed to know that. We ended up with a dirty car covered in dog hair and smelled like a wet dog. We had to take it to the car wash just to see out of the mirrors. Definitely was a hassle only to end up with a dirty car.

I filled my car with gas before returning it, and I was charged $6 for fuel. I drove less than a mile from the fueling station to the airport.

Terrible, terrible experience as standing in line for well over an hour waiting to check in for the car I reserved weeks in advance only to have to take another as the vehicle I reserved wasn't available. So not only waiting in excess of an hour, while watching others (renting from competing companies likeEnterprise, National and Hertz fly through their check ins) but then to also get a car versus the SUV reserved added insult to injury. USE ANOTHER COMPANY as AVIS is simply not worth the wait and aggravation. EXACT SAME thing happened to my nephew the week before so this is not an isolated experience here in Ft Myers,

I had an extremely pleasant experience renting a car through Avis! From booking to picking up to returning, it was seamless. I will continue to rent with Avis. They are the best!

I recently rented a car at the Avis facility at RSW in Fort Myers, the line for the cars was three rows deep , I said to myself ohh no, but low and behold every 30 seconds or so it moved, those ladies are gentlemen behind the counter working the computers were moving the line, I was in front of Tracey in no time, she was still fresh as ever with a warm welcome, did my contract in no time I was in the parking picking up my car , just simply incredible, I was genuinely impressed and thankful that I had my wheels and was rolling.

I rented a car at the Fort Myers Airport. 40 minutes into the drive my car became un-drivable and had to be towed. Things happen but the way Avis handled it was horrible. They wanted me to go back to the airport to rent another car. Unfortunately I had no car because it was towed and I had no way to get back to the airport, I was left stranded. After 90 minutes on the phone with customer service they still wanted me to make my way back to rent another car. They refused to pick me up or bring me another car!So, I called Enterprise Rent a Car and they came and picked me up, drove me to their nearest store and I was in a new car within 30 minutes. They made my day!Getting a refund from Avis was a whole other issue. Not only did I wait in line at the airport for an hour to pick up my Avis rental, it was another hour wait in line when I returned a week later to start my refund process which couldn’t be completed at the airport. Another 30 minutes on the phone and I’m finally got a refund. My experience with Avis was a time wasting, aggravating, highly frustrating experience.

We opted for the 'mystery vehicle', thinking we'd get a good deal. They gave us a minivan for over $100 a day and did not disclose the cost until it showed up in our bank account. This is a bait and switch scam and I'll never go with Avis again.

Avis roadside policy was I could return car and pick up a new car which would require an 2 hour round trip to the airport and back or they would send roadside with a new car for $79 charge. Couldn't use the car with my family due to broken rear seat belts

I recently rented a car at Avis in Ft Myers Florida. The experience was horrible. Aside from the fact that the line at the rental desk was absurd, the service was atrocious. The rental contract was more than the quote I was given less than 24 hours prior. I rented the car from February 25 at approximately 1:15 pm through March 2. There was a death and I had to return to NY on February 29. I returned the car at 7 am on February 29. They refunded $20. The car was returned almost 3 days early and I received a $20 credit. I will never use this greedy company again. My wife and I travel extensively in Europe, US and the Caribbean. I have never had a situation like this anywhere. The service of the employees at the counter and at the call centers was abrupt, unhelpful and inconsiderate.

Awful service. Hidden or unexplained fees assessed after drop off. Found extra charges on my card a day later.. car was dirty and smelled like marijuana when picked up. Was sent to the lot to retrieve car that wasn’t there. Had to go back inside to wait in long line again for the dirty smelly car.. lot attendant was rude.. razor blade left on the trunk. Such a bad experience in every aspect. From pick up to drop off. This was a “luxury rental” rented a convertible for a special week long trip.. it was not a good experience.

Great "Preferred service" the unit was ready to go and speed of exit and return was excellent. Most resent experience at Ft Meyers and with the amount of vehicles and volume Avis provided excellent service and experience.
