It is a public place with free entry, you only have to pay for parking, which costs $1 per hour. It is worth going to enter the humid forest and see what the wildlife of these mangroves and swampy lands are like inside. You have to go quietly so as not to disturb the animals but few are seen because they hide. It is not dangerous, it has a very firm wooden walkway. Children must be supervised by adults at all times.

Always amazing! Very enjoyable if you take your time and "observe". A large variety of animals, reptiles and plants to see.

Wonderful preserve. Saw many birds, some otters and a large alligator. Trees and wetlands were beautiful. Extensive boardwalks. Large lake at the beginning not far from the parking lot. Peaceful feeling when walking in the wetlands. Highly recommend.

Was good. Would have liked to see more animals. Saw a crocodile, a snake, a few birds and a few turtles, as well as small lizards. No entry.Parking is $2 an hour or $5 all day. We were there relaxed for about 90 minutes.

You don’t hike 6 miles… it’s a little over a mile for the full trail & shorter paths are available. It’s a once in a lifetime, easy walk over the slough & parts of the Florida ecosystem I otherwise would have never had the opportunity to experience. The trail is a well-maintained boardwalk. We really enjoyed this experience & I highly recommend it. Different times of the year will give you a unique experience & glimpse into Floridas natural beauty. I noticed people of all ages on the trail. Restroom facilities onsite & you pay minimally for parking.

Relaxing and very safe. The whole walk is on boardwalks- incredible views. Restrooms too which is handy if you have a long drive (or kids with you).

The slough has been a favorite of mine since It opened in 1992. Its a great place to tegroup after a long day, to see natural wildlife and a slew of different plants, insects, wildlife. Early morning or just before sunset you can watch hundreds of birds leave their nests or come in to roost for the night. It is a truly awe-inspiring site to be watched from the pavillion or along the boardwalk that runs along the lake edge... I love to find a bench and sit and meditate to the sounds of nature.*Reminder please be respectful and speak quietly and mute phones*
