I made a reservation for a gas powered vehicle through Carrentals.com. I was very careful that I did not select or rent an EV or a 'Manager's Special' so I would not get stuck with an EV. When I arrived Thrifty would only provide an EV in my class of vehicle 'compact' and claimed they did not have gas powered compacts. They said Nissan Versa or 'similar' meant that they could substitute for an EV. When I refused the EV they threatened me with calling the police. They forced me to upgrade at 2.5 times the cost to get a gas powered vehicle and under duress since it was midnight I signed the contract. I returned it the next day and rented from another agency a gas powered vehicle.DO NOT RENT FROM THRIFTY/DOLLAR/HERTZ. They do not honor the terms of the reservation and are engaging in 'bait and switch' forcing the rental of EVs or upgrade at super expensive rates. Also if you are renting a midsize or less they are forcing you into an EV. Rosemary

I reserved a compact car in. July 2023 for a November 2023 trip. When we got to the counter the "salesman" informed us that all the compact cars were now electric. Now, where we were going I wasn't sure they had charging stations or even where they were. He's like you can drive 200 miles on one charge are you going to drive that much? Well, we were tourist and wanted to see a few attractions, so yes we would probably drive more than 200 miles. He then said we had to upgrade to a midsize. I'm tired it was a very early flight, so I wasn't quick on my feet. He didn't offer to match the price or give us any compensation. I feel like it was a bait and switch tactic to take advantage of us. Perhaps Thrifty should have maps available as to where charging stations are. I didn't see one the entire time we were there. I won't rent from Thrifty again.

We had reserved a mid-sized car (we thought) for $452 for 8 days. Our flight was late getting in. It was close to midnight by the time we got to the rental place. The guy behind the counter told us we had reserved a compact car which was all electric. He was a fast talker and by the time we were done our bill went up to $744 for 8 days. He told us he gave us a full size car for the price of a mid-size. When we went to the garage there were no full size Cars even available. We were tired so just picked out a mid-size and left. When we returned the car we complained about the huge price difference. They told us it was because it was on Veterans Day weekend. What a crock! A holiday that is supposed to be about honoring our veterans and they use that as an excuse to take advantage of people! That is really sad. I will never use this company again!

Do NOT get a rental from this company at RSW. We booked a mid-sized suv...well in advance. We landed and headed to the rental counter where we waited in line close to an hour only to be told there were NO rentals available in our class. We could upgrade to a luxury at a LUXURY expense. We were told to wait. As we sat and talked to others who had experienced the same issues who had been waiting for over an hour. One lady told me on a recent trip, they waited 3 hours to get their reserved rental!!! AND......on top of this the agent behind the counter at Thrifty was condescending and EXTREMELY rude!! No excuse for that!! You are in customer service.........service the customers with respect and kindness!!° THEN, we FINALLY get our paperwork and told to go to the garage to get our rental. We got there and all we saw were EMPTY spaces. We wandered around looking for a vehicle in the class we had reserved.....no such luck!!! And NO ONE was in the garage from Thrifty to assist their customers in finding their rentals!!! We had to ask an agent from a competitor's agency to point us in the right direction! There SHOULD have been a Thrifty employee in the garage easily visible to anyone needing assistance!! We will NOT use Thrifty again!! HORRIBLE way to do business and HORRIBLE customer service!!!!!!!

The person mover we had reserved a long time ago for our family was not available when we arrived ... They first said it would be available within an hour .... then that it would not be available before 3 days ! There were many unhappy customers waiting for a car in front of their desk. The employees discussed the alternatives to find a solution that was acceptable for us , (which they finally did .Thanks Spencer from Hertz) . The huge car we got was niceWe did loose over one hour...

Was having a blast until we went to charge our Polestar 2 EV and it said it was going to take 9 hours to charge 60%. Soooooo yeah we took it back and got a nice Toyota Camry Sport which they did charge us $10 more a day since they call that a mid size and the Polestar 2 a compact, problem with that is the Polestar 2 is actually bigger... They should tell individuals that are getting these how long they can take to charge. But they got us another vehicle so back to having a blast!

Very MIs leading practices. I booked through Travelocity. Thrifty asked for a CC on file when I picked up and proceeded to charge me for insurance and gas (I returned w/ full tank and didn't need the insurance). I contested the charge w- my CC. They then sent me to collections after I explained it was returned with a full tank. There Customer Service was the worst. Talked in circles and actually hung up on me. Never again will I deal with then. Stay far away!BTW- There car selection is awful.

Horrible Customer Service. Customer Service representative Ermes Id No.8618 should be TERMINATED immediately. Absolutely no empathy or ability to have compassion or accountability for his companies actions. I was rented a vehicle with a key that occasionally worked. I was locked out of the car or unable to turn on the vehicle. They should have exchanged the vehicle without any inconvenience but he did not. I travel OFTEN and regularly rent vehicles and have never had such a ridiculous experience. Do not rent from them!!

CAUTION! This place is a SCAM. Booked my reservation months in advance but when I got to the counter to pick up the car, I was told it was going be much more expensive than what I signed up for. I was told I shouldn’t book through 3rd party websites because they don’t list all the hidden fees and taxes, which I know is untrue after renting many vehicles in the past. Plus, they wanted to charge me additional fees to have a gas vehicle instead of electric. I did not book an electric vehicle to begin with. Peter, the rep at the counter was extremely rude and made disgruntled faces at me when I started asking questions. At that point, I felt uncomfortable and like I was being taken advantage of, so I asked for a refund. I could not trust anything that I was being told. Jordan was called over to void the transaction, I also received a poor attitude and comments from him. I was charged almost $700 after agreeing to $400 for an economy car. I asked for a receipt to confirm the charges were reversed, and was told that’s not possible and a verbal confirmation is all they could offer. The best he could do was show me his monitor that displayed the void. I went over to Fox, walked up to the counter and paid $300 for a full size SUV. No nonsense, no skepticism, no disbelief. Amazing customer service was received from Fox.

Worst rental experience I've ever had. Attendant at ft Myers thrifty airport counter refused to honor veterans advantage discounted rate we had reserved vehicle with, stated "airport fees" weren't added to reserved rate . Was too have a large suv. No large suvs in the lot so had to hunt down attendant who gave us a small suv 2wd vehicle w 61k miles. Noticed the next day ants crawling on our legs and feet. Completely infested with fast, biting ants. Literally 1000s emanating from floor carpeting and cracks around driver doors. Took to Naples airport thrifty near where we were staying and they were shocked by the bug infestation and gave us a new vehicle. Attendant at Naples was very nice and helpful. On return to ft Myers no one available in lot. No signage about what to do. Wandered around and found a guy w a hertz shirt who said just leave the vehicle and key. No check in inspection or receipt. Guy was rude beyond belief and said what do u want from me? How about an explanation of what to do? A sign that says where to go and just park vehicle, leave keys and a receipt will be emailed. How about an attendant that's courteous and asks how your rental vehicle was and how was your experience? Ripped off, wrong size vehicle given to us which was bug infested vehicle, no attendants around and when we hunted one down he was rude and unhelpful. Thrifty will never be used again. Hertz their parent company will never be used either. Warning to all, avoid thrifty at ft Myers...

I guess now it's Thrifty/Hertz I Rented a car via Priceline . An electric car. Kia EV6 , Beautiful car but I Don't advertise . I found the resources are few and far between to charge the Damn thing . I was told just download the app. I found the closest charging station was 40 minutes away in the back of a Kia lot. I plug it in and the car reads 8 hrs 40 min to charge. What??? I'm on vacation, I can't give up 8 hrs. Long story short, I didn't get to do the things I had planned. And I didn't use the ac ( in fla) couldn't waste the battery. Horrible Horrible experience. Over an hour wait (in slower season) to get keys for a car we already booked AND FULLY PAID FOR. Thrifty... please have a separate line for people who have already paid - why does it take 10+ minutes per each customer to check-in? I gave 2 stars because the car was fine and clean HOWEVER, there was no worker in sight for 20 minutes upon our car return to airport. I'm not comfortable just leaving a loaner with keys without getting confirmation that we returned the car and we filled-up with gas. SO DISORGANIZED. NOT WORTH SAVING $50.

Easy pickup & drop off, fast process. I picked up in the middle of the afternoon & had no issues. Price was right, vehicle was clean. 3 convertibles to choose from when I arrived. However, I left a garage door opener in the vehicle, it's been 6 days and after calling and asking still no word about it. They said wait 5-7 business days.

Just spend the extra money on hertz or enterprise! Not worth the hassle, this company nickel and dimes customers with extra fees even if you already paid in full online. Waited over 2 hours for a car. Staff was nice but basically tell you 100 different ways they can’t really help you and tell you to call customer service. Everyone who went to hertz or enterprise is walking away to their car rental in 5 minutes everyone at thrifty is upset, hungry and tired still waiting on a car!
