We have taken our dogs to Companion for boarding for many years, and they have enjoyed the best of care and kindness. The staff is very considerate, and we pick up a sweet-smelling, happy dog. We feel confident that if any problem arises, there will be a veterinarian on hand.

This is a review, belated, as it was last year when I visited Companion Animal Hospital and Boarding, but regardless, this is something that needs to be done. Sorry I didnt do it earlier. We boarded our two dogs overnight with the understanding that we could pick them up during normal business hours without having to call first as there was to be someone on duty during that time. Arrived to pick them up at about 1 - 2 PM coming back from a trip to central FL and planing to leave in a rush for another four hour trip to MS. When we arrived at Companion, there was a note on the door stating they were closed for a staff meeting. Tried to call them for about two hours but calls went straight to voicemail. This was in the middle of a business day with no one on duty, and no one would answer the phone. (Who is taking care of the boarded pets during that time? Who closes down a business for two hours in the middle of the day for a staff meeting? Never heard of this before.) So our four hour trip to MS turned into a six hour trip, due to the inconsiderate lack of customer service on the part of Companion by having to wait two hours to pick up our pets contrary to there committment when we left them. They offered no apology for our inconvenience or no regrets. Their attitude was "that's just the way it is". So just be aware, based on my experience, if you expect honesty and good customer service, consider carefully whether or not to use Companion Animal Hospital and Boarding.

What is it about the Fort Walton Beach area and vets? Ive been using this vet for all three of my dogs much longer than I should have. Its exhausting every time I take my dogs in they are constantly trying to up sell me. I had a real bad experience when my miniature yorkie ate something off of the beach when she was a puppy, they did all these test and nothing came back positive but they said possibly she could have Parvo and that the test might not had detect it. They said that they should keep her overnight and give her all kinds of fluids. Long story short I came back in the morning and she was up and barking! A miracle! right! no wrong, they didn't even bother to retest her, they charged me $600.00 for basically giving her vitamins. After this I was determined to find another vet, well I didn't ask around enough and it kind of fell on the "back burner". So my other dog she is a poodle mix, her teeth are bad in need of cleaning and extractions. I have had dogs all my life and wasn't aware that some smaller breeds need their teeth cleaned on a regular basis. So....I make an appt. the dental person in charge calls me to set up a detailed cleaning program, what ever that meant. I wanted to find out or get an idea of where a cleaning starts$ on a dog that has good teeth, she was reluctant to tell me. She said there is no base price....so they make it up as they go? I told her that was crazy that they could not tell me a starting price. Thats how they drive up the price. I told her I will take her else where. I found a Vet in Destin that I will take her to who is able to give me a starting price. I will never bring another one of my animals in there. They price gouge and they don't work well with Chewy so you end up paying their crazy prices for heart guard.

We were on our first rv trip from Austin, tx to destin. Our dog started pooping large amount of blood on the way. We were so worried and checked her in an 24/7 vet at Mobile, AL. After hour vet clinic was very busy, gave mocha a shot and didn't explain much. Next day, when we arrived Destin, we came to this pet hospital since our dog still bleeding. Dr. Dawn and her nurse were very patient, explained everything. The facility is super clean, high ceiling, the charge were also very reasonable, half about the price we usually pays at Austin. Highly recommended.

We've only been once but I was super impressed. Everybody was patient and understanding with my super stressed out pup who in turn was stressing me out. They were super patient and understanding with me too. I'm allegedly an "expert" and was a little embarrassed he was acting so foolish. Thanks guys!

I am very disappointed to make this review. But it is the principle of the situation. I scheduled my pup for a bath and ear cleaning and we discussed later appointment for grooming however we never discussed a date. Than yesterday I received a missed call and message stating that I was scheduled for appointment tomorrow. Unfortunately I did not hear the message until that evening when the groomers were closed. I was not able to make the appointment so I call the first thing that next morning. To explain that I was not aware of the appointment and could I reschedule. I was than told I would be charged a $25 fee for no show. I spoke with the manager and explained that no one told me or asked if that date worked and I was not able to make it. They told me" it didn't matter they left a message Their groomer is extremely busy". They do I great job at grooming however when it comes to customer service they lack. I feel that you should not get penalized for an appointment you did not make.

Dr. Jessie and team have always taken great care of our boxer Otto. We know that when we drop him off or take him for a check up that he is in good, caring hands. Prior to Covid when we were allowed to be inside, the doctors and techs had great bedside manners. Never made us feel like they had somewhere else to be or like we were being rushed through the appointment. Very attentive and answered al our questions. Love Companion!!

Very friendly staff! My dog loved them all, and the vet even came to my car to introduce herself which was a very pleasant surprise! Much more efficient than my previous vet - quick, yet thorough, and so kind! Definitely a happy client, and will be recommending.

Dr Hartley was amazing and I appreciate the quick feedback on labs; your staff did so much better with my elderly, grumpy cat than other places

Everyone we encounter at Companion has been so helpful & caring for our furbaby. From day to day problems, travel anxiety issues, to the more serious IBD diagnosis we just got, they have been so thorough. Dr. DesJardins has been amazing the past couple months while we tried to figure out what was going on with our lil pup. Her patience, understanding, commitment to following what we're comfortable with, and desire to make our pupper better led us to a very manageable diagnosis. We love this place and are so happy to have them so close!

If you're looking for a vet that cares only about money then this is the place you want to be. I brought my dog in and she was sick with pyometra. The basically told me that if i didn't come up with abunch of money right there that my dog was going to die. Well due to covid i could not come up with all of the money. They made me sign horrific papers that made me feel horrible saying that my dog was gonna die and i knew it and was taking her home anyway just to get my dog back. That day i took my dog home and prayed. She slept in my bed all night with trash bags underneath my sheets because i was told she wouldnt make it thru the night. The next morning i took her to Emerald coast animal hospital to have her put down. The doctor took one look at her and said there was no way he was putting Molly down today! He didnt care about the money. He worked with what we had which was less than half of what companion wanted and did they surgery and saved my dogs life! If you want a real vet that cares about animals i suggest taking your babies there. I will never again go anywhere else! Molly is home now and recovering amazingly! All thanks to a vet that actually cared about animals more than he cared about money!

Love our vet and everyone there! Have been with Dr Hartley since before she was at Companion. They care about our pets and I trust them. Best care available for your fur babies! The most important thing is the effort made on behalf of our pets. Some times it isn't obvious what is wrong and they go that extra to help.

Fast, efficient, friendly & informative. All my questions were answered and the vet was knowledgeable about large breed dogs.
