“What is VPK
VPK for some people only means that they get to pay a lower cost for childcare. For others, it’s just a different classroom before they go to “big kid” school.
I will tell you what VPK is from a provider’s perspective. I have been providing VPK for nearly 20 years. I often hear parents say my child is so smart and ready for kindergarten even before they start a VPK program. They know their ABC’s and they can count to 100. Well, that’s wonderful but VPK is much more than academics. We certainly hope that our children will be able to identify all the letters in the alphabet and be able to one on one correspond numbers 1-10 and be able to count to 31. We would also like them to be able to write their first and last name without assistance. But these things are only a part of VPK. VPK is about getting the child and the family into a healthy routine for a successful school career for the next 13+ years. Our job is as a VPK provider is to ensure that we are preparing the entire family of what’s to come next. VPK is practice if you will. We are here to teach your child how to be away from home for hours at a time and how to cope with that. We are teaching your children how to have healthy relationships with adults and other children outside of your home. We are teaching your children how to speak up for themselves and how to ask others for help. We are teaching them independence. We are teaching them how to open their own food items, how to use the restroom without assistance and we are teaching them how to resolve conflicts. VPK is a setting with many children from many different backgrounds and comes from different rules at home. We teach your child how to follow rules outside of the home…what may be acceptable at home doesn’t necessarily mean it acceptable at school. We teach them how to express themselves appropriately when another child or adult makes them angry. We teach them how to celebrate when they accomplish something that is really hard. We teach them how to try and practice and then succeed. We teach them empathy and how to be kind to others. We not only teach the children, but we teach the entire family. We teach our families time management… how to get to school on time. How to have a successful morning before school. We teach them how to set aside time in the evening for homework, family projects and reading. We teach our families that they have rules to follow as well. They must sign forms and read messages. They must figure out how to read assessments and what they mean. They must know what their Childs’ strengths and weaknesses are in the school setting and how to manage those. We teach our families how to help their child succeed at school. They must read monthly calendars and keep up with what their child needs for school that day. They need to find a way to be a part of their Childs’ school career. All of these things… that’s what VPK is. It’s practice. It’s a full school year of practice for the entire family. Practice for the real thing. Practice for “big kid” school.

“My daughter loves this school. She attends the 2yr old class & Ms Maddie is so sweet! I love how my daughter is greeted every single morning by everybody there. They reassure me that she's good when I drop her off because she tends to cry at drop off. I get updates throughout the day on the app that they use. I love receiving pictures of what she's doing. Everybody there is so great with all the kiddos. You can tell that all the kids love it there as well. They have a monthly calendar with themed weeks & it's just overall wonderful. I'm so glad I chose this school for my daughter. We used to live walking distance from it but now we're about a 30min drive away but I still want her to go here because I feel like she learns a lot. Definitely recommend it & they also accept ELC which is such a big help.”

“This facility takes great care of their kiddos. Maria runs this place well and is courteous and helpful if any problems arise. Kayla is fantastic as her right hand woman in making sure to be available for any questions or concerns and is a welcome face to see. Ashley F is amazing with these kids! She has helped many tots open up and you can really tell she puts her all into this place.”

“My son loves this place he's been there since he was 9 months and now he's 5 yrs , he loves the teachers. The teachers are amazing Ms.Jennifer , Ms. Melissa and Mr.Jared did a great job with the kids. My son had the best years with Discovery Point Trinity.”

“A wonderful daycare with an amazing staff! When you first walk in you feel like you are at home and everyone there is just a delight. The positive energy radiates throughout the entire daycare and it shows by the staff and children's happiness. You are greeted with smiles and by your first name all day. All the teachers get to know all the children regardless of if they are your child's teacher. If you are looking for a daycare that truly cares about your child and has their best interest at heart this is the place!”

“The VPK teachers create an environment that encourages learning at all levels, inclusion, helps them navigate emotions/friendships, and teaches them to give back to their communities. The communication is wonderful and I love getting pictures/updates from the teacher about what my daughter is learning throughout the week. Our daughter loves going to school and asks to go to school on the weekends. We all have absolutely loved our experience at Primrose for VPK.”

“I wanted to start by saying how thankful I am for this school and its teachers as well as miss Alex! They all put it such amazing work and special attention to the students it really warms my heart! My daughter started going here last year around October, this is the first school she has ever been to and this mama was nervous, but everything was perfect from signing her up to her first day( she wouldn’t let me take her home for about a week straight) she insisted that she wasn’t done playing even though it was time to go home! We started out with half time then made the decision to go to full time not only because we had a little one on the way but also because my daughter comes home everyday talking about all the fun things she is learning in class and how much she loves all her friends and teachers! It’s been officially a year since she has been at the school and everyday is a new exciting adventure for her, she has really learned so much and has really grown within herself though learning and making new friends and memories! Special thanks to her teacher miss Amber who always greats her with a warm smile and a loving environment, to all her little friends who openly great her with good mornings and warm hugs and most of all to miss Alex who works tirelessly everyday to provide a exciting, loving and safe environment for our precious children to learn in! We definitely consider her school like family and cannot wait to send our second baby there soon!”

“If I could give more than a 5 star review I would! I can't say enough positive things about St. Ignatius Early Childhood Center and all the staff that work there.
We signed my son up for VPK there from a friend's recommendation but it far surpassed our expectations. He was in the Blue Room with Ms Beth and Ms Louise. They are both so wonderful and set the bar so high that they will forever be who I compare all teachers to. We moved farther away that summer but loved the school so much we signed our daughter up the next year for the 2s class anyways. She's in the 3s room now with Ms Kristen and Ms Jenn who are equally as amazing. My daughter gets upset on the days she doesn't have school and has even cried having to leave and go back home for the day. If that doesn't speak for itself about how wonderful the school is I don't know what will. The staff there radiate that genuine love and passion for the children they work with that can't be faked. I can't recommend this school enough!”

“I started my girls under the new staff about a month ago and I have never been happier with a childcare facility. Not only do I receive multiple updates on my children throughout the day and the cutest pictures of my children, my girls themselves tell me how much they love school and their teachers. I've also seen an improvement in behavioral senses as well. EVERY single person there has a passion for children and as a parent who is raising my cnildren in a Christian centered home I am extremely grateful for the exceptional care and faith based circiculum my children receive. “My son has attended this day care from 2 years old till 5 years old! He absolutely loved coming & since being in elementary school he always asks to see Ms Liz and Ms Krissy his two favorite people. The kids always have smiles on their faces happy healthy & clean. They have worked so hard with my son who is diagnosed with ADHD & ODD and by far is the easiest kid to take care of. At one point Ms Liz and krissy weren’t at this daycare and I moved my son where they had went because of how well they care for their kids like they are their own. My newborn son will be attending as well. They are great advocates for all the children & have done their very best! I highly recommend you schedule a tour for your child to attend you will not be disappointed”

“This is the best daycare in the area. The staff is very friendly! Miss Jessica and Mr. Hairs also take time to talk to me, and I see them talking to other parents too! My daughter was put in Miss Shelly room, and I was very nervous about putting her in daycare! Miss Shelly sent us daily pictures and always communicated with us. She always gave us daily feedback! Miss Shelly also gave us tips on how to deal with our daughter, which has helped us out a lot at home. Her classroom is very clean, and my daughter always runs up to give her hugs! We have never picked her up with a dirty diaper. Miss Shelly also takes time to play with the kids and teach them life skills! My daughter is in Miss Samantha room now and she is doing great in her room too! If you are looking for a great daycare don’t hesitate to put your child in this daycare. Our daughter always comes home happy and wakes up in the morning happy to go see Miss Samantha and Miss Shelly. Miss Idelis always say good morning and hugs our daughter in the morning when we drop her off. All the staff seem very friendly. This was not our first choice but it’s our only choice and we can’t wait to put our other daughter in Learn and Play!”
