I recently visited the Publix in Hollywood 12/5/2024 around 9:30PM and was extremely disappointed by the lack of attention to basic health and safety standards. While shopping, I noticed a woman with her dog inside a grocery cart. I politely informed her that Publix typically does not allow pets in the store or in carts for sanitary reasons. She told me that she had already asked an associate and was told that they couldn’t do anything because it was the manager’s responsibility to address the issue.
It’s disturbing that employees seemed to have no intention of enforcing store policies, especially considering the sanitary concerns with having a dog inside a grocery cart—an item meant for food and personal hygiene. Pets can carry bacteria, parasites, and dirt, which can contaminate surfaces that customers are meant to use for handling food. The fact that Publix wasn’t proactive about handling this situation is very concerning.
This experience left me questioning the overall commitment to cleanliness and customer safety at this location. If Publix isn’t going to enforce basic hygiene standards, it’s hard to trust the quality and safety of the products being sold. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously moving forward.
