I’ve been visiting Banfield for both of my pets for quite a few years now. I have a cat and a dog. They have been so helpful with my cat’s digestive system health, my dog’s allergies and their protective care plans.

I want to warn pet owners who may be considering purchasing the Banfield insurance. Although I thought it was a pretty good deal when I purchased it, I changed my mind after being told that I would need to continue to pay through the end of the year - 9 months - after my dog had passed away! At his last visit, which was well over $1K, the plan paid a portion and my share was over $500. The explanation I was given for the continued payments for a deceased dog was that his plan had just renewed for the year, and I would need to pay for the coverage he received at his final visit. Hmmm, I thought that's what insurance was for. Even though we were finished with Banfield, his care was referred to a specialist on the south side of Jax. He was admitted to the clinic and was euthanized on his third day. All of his treatment was self pay, and that bill was over $2K! As devastated as we were by his loss, the blow was made a bit softer by the kind and compassionate care he/we received. After we adopted another pup, I took him to Banfield for the shots and other immunizations and heart worm and tick prevention he'd not been receiving. I didn't enroll him in their insurance. The kicker was when the dr came out to the front desk, not to speak with me, and I said hello to her. I told her who I was, "Scooter's mom," and her response was, "I know who you are," which was delivered in a very nasty tone. I only wish I'd responded with an equally rude remark, as the reception area was very crowded at the time. She had ticked me off, although I didn't relay that to her, by sending an assistant out to converse with me during her exam of my new pup, instead of having the courtesy to speak with me herself. I understand she was probably very busy. But there was no rationale for her discourteous behavior. We haven't been back. There is a plethora of caring vets in our area, and I don't need to pay to have a vet disrespect me.I will always regret not having taken Scooter to another vet or specialist after being told the first time that his liver enzymes were elevated. I trusted the vet to care for him, and that trust was betrayed.

Fill in vet was dismissive and very unhelpful. Assistant suggested I return when regular vet is back. No time for that. Have to take my cat elsewhere. Very disappointed in lack of professionalism on the part of vet.Staff seemed okay.

I used to go to San Pablo/Atlantic BLVD banfield location. However, after my previous vet left the practice, I haven't been able to get in with same day appointments. Dr MacNamara at the beaches location has been very helpful and she even identified a potential miss on medication management from his previous vet. This location allows drop-off appointments and they allow you to wait for quick Appts too like vaccines. I've been very pleased with the ease of scheduling and how they always call the next day to check up on your pet. I also appreciate that they are located in a petsmart in case I need to purchase prescription dog food, it makes it very easy!

Always lovely to my fur babies. They take the time to explain any procedure I may have questions on and follow up with me after to check on my pets.

Called to make an appointment for "pawdicure" which includes a nail trim, ear clean, Dremel and pet smart bandana, showed the check in girl my paper(that had the special). Let one dog go back, they said, "that's the best I can do", I was like what? Did you do the eat clean? They said, no. So I said why are his nails all sharp and rough? Did you use the dremel? No they said that's a service with the groomers. So I paid my $18 for a shitty job and proceeded to get the groomers to do the pawdicure I wanted and made an appointment for, don't be fooled! Banfield is THE VET not the groomer! Lesson learned the hard way!

I never leave reviews, but what I saw here made me want to start! We visited here the other day since we just moved from out of state because I needed to get my husky seen, upon arrival I, and the rest of the store witnessed a customer screaming at the girls at the front desk, get this- for wearing their mask. Absolutely no one in this team was rude to the customer, not even the girls being yelled at. No one raised their voice, they were professional, and level headed, but made sure they would be given the respect that they were giving the customer. The girls at the desk then told the customer that she was complying with her company’s safety standards and doing what she felt was best to help her (the customer) the customer then started yelling about how she would never shop at this pet smart again and an older gentleman kindly stepped in and informed her that she was in fact yelling at a veterinary assistant that doesn’t work for petsmart! The woman stormed off and the girl behind the desk thanked the man, him stepping in really let me know that he obviously values this staff, he was willing to intervene into this extremely dramatic situation this “Karen” was causing to defend this girl, so I KNEW I was leaving my baby in good hands. Anyway, after this all resolved itself and I was checking in the girls were so sweet to me and my baby, they let me know that they had a delay in one of their surgeries so our appointment may take longer than expected. They pet my baby and let her get comfortable with them before attempting to walk her in the back, when she was hesitant the sweet girl got onto the floor with her and simply loved on her until she was ready to follow her again. This truly warmed my heart because regardless of how busy things around her were she took the time to ensure that my pet knew she was safe. Another girl came out and talked to me about basic care of my pet and the reason I was there with here that day, she gave me some basic things the doctor might want to do and assured me they were all loving on her as we spoke, we said our goodbyes and I waited for a phone call to pick her up. They called me with updates and went over any and all updates to our treatment plan. They gave me options and went over each one thoroughly with me and explained them in depth. All of these things happening for me, a complete stranger to them just really makes this experience that much better. You could tell that these people really love their jobs and the pets that they get to see. Keep doing great here banfield, we will be back!

Getting out of a contract here is like getting out of a bad marriage. They automatically renew and when you call to cancel, it’s 70 min wait, 56 min wait and goes on and on. They tell you you can use text but then they can’t validate account. After 2 months of trying to get through and an office that can sign you up for plan but not cancel… we are Free. Yet they won’t refund the 2 months of the second year , even though per has never been seen and I didn’t resign .

I rarely give a bad review but here’s my first:Very vindictive if you have any complaints about staff. When I first took my dog in I felt like I was highly pressured into getting the most expensive plan. After I left and went home I called back the next day before 24 hours had passed and the same girl who signed me up told me that I couldn’t cancel. Who does business like that? When I took dash back for first appt I felt like the person that signed me up was very vindictive because of my complaint against her and her bad attitude. When she saw me approaching she nudged the girl next to her who wore the black scrubs and had her give me the stink eye like I did something wrong. Very childish and unprofessional. I’m bringing my dog in for a service not to be treated like I’m not welcome there. (Trailer trash)Since I took Dash back he’s been acting strange because he was left alone with this said vindictive person for more than a half hour and I can’t prove anything was done to him but he hasn’t been the same since.I see there are lotta other bad reviews on here and I can’t wait to see what kind of excuse the owner replies with like he or she did in the other 1 star complaints.

The docs and techs here are amazing! Our dog Ruka woke up very sick and they were able to squeeze her in immediately. The staff is so compassionate, friendly and informative. We’ve been coming here since Ruka was a puppy and they have always been very thorough and informative. I knew she was in great hands! They called every few hours with updates while she was in their care, which gave me peace of mind. We are on the wellness plan, which is well worth it. I would definitely recommend Banfield Jax beach!

I can’t think Banfield Hospital of Jacksonville Beach enough for helping me out today. I woke up this morning and my cat Lily was in a bad state. I didn’t have an appointment and they took her immediately and solved her problems. It meant the world to me as Lily was there for me during Covid during a very dark and depressing time. The thought of losing her was very frightening. Everyone there was so kind, friendly and informative. Thank you for taking the time and finding a place for Lily today and being so kind and compassionate.
