We are so grateful for the services that we received for our kitten after he accidentally ingested a hazardous chemical. The staff was patient and kind, and even checked on us (on a Sunday) after we checked out to make sure he was doing okay. If your fur family members are in need of urgent care, this is the place to go at the beaches.

Last week was only the second time I had to use an Emergency Vet for my two boys. My 15yo, Bailey, had been in pain for a few hours while I called local vets to see if he could be seen. He had a history of hepatocellular carcinoma and I just knew it was back and his time was up. Everyone in the office was so kind. They explained the procedure to my daughter and I and even shaved a spot on his head so she could have some of his soft fur. It has been a hard week but, today I opened the sweetest card signed by the staff of First Coast Vet ER. Thank you all for your genuine kindness.

My baby, Josie unfortunately had to visit First Coast due to the neglance of another vet this past Friday. Dr Davis' staff took her back immediately upon entering and assessed her. Not long after taking her back, Dr. Davis came in to update me. Unfortunately, Josie had several extensive health issues including the negligence caused by the other vet. Once I explained that I was unable to afford a lot of the care recommended, Dr. Davis was so kind as to help minimize costs where she could without sacrificing the care. Upon further testing while gathering the finances, they discovered additional concerns in her issues. I chose to let my baby go to the Rainbow Bridge vs suffering at this point. The entire staff from front to back of house were nothing short of amazing, kind and caring. Thank You Dr. Davis for trying to help my girl! I will never hesitate to make the almost 2hr drive if necessary!

I brought in an injured two week old puppy, her mom jumped up abruptly accidentally stepping on her 20 minutes prior. The vet (didn't get her name) came in and recommended euthanization, said she needed oxygen, ivs, round the clock care.. treatment would be in the thousands, I could have all the money in the world but can't guarantee survival or know if there's any neurological issues. That puppies this age don't usually survive (clearly they don't at this facility).. She didn't recommend x-rays, nothing to properly diagnose. Said the puppy's head was swollen and she worried about deformities later on. Like WHAT?!? Her head was not swollen! I'm going to get a second opinion at my regular vet. I figured this was an emergency and First Coast was closer but that wasn't the best choice. The vet did NOT want me to leave with my puppy. She said, "that's strongly against my recommendation! The puppy is clearly suffering!" Well your recommendation is to kill her! Im taking her to give her a chance at life! AND I'm SOOOOO glad I went against her "professional" opinion!!! I was able to massage her neck and calm her down in the parking lot. By the time I made it to my regular vet, she was able to get comfortable, she clearly had some discomfort but she was not suffering. She was holding her head up and feeding on her own, healthy bowels and urinating. No signs of bruising or broken bones. My regular vet said that mom's stepping on puppies is VERY common and the puppies freak out, since they don't know how to handle the pain and trauma but they usually make a full recovery! Gave her some pain meds, b12 steroid injection and an antibiotic injection to help her along (Total cost $56!! Only $40 exam fee). It's been two days, she is 100% back to normal and THRIVING!I would LOVE TO KNOW what first coast's $165 exam fee includes because their vet didn't even know my puppies sex, breed or thoroughly examine her to decide she was suffering and STRONGLY recommended permanent death as a solution. Several times!BEWARE!!!!! GET AN INFORMED PROFESSIONAL OPINION BEFORE MAKING A PERMANENT DECISION TO EUTHANIZE BASED ON THIS FACILITY'S RECOMMENDATIONS!

Our sweet Golden, Bella, unfortunately passed away this weekend from Hermangiosarcoma. This animal hospital has to be one of the most compassionate animal hospitals I have ever been to. Dr. Amanda Rowe (I hope I’m spelling that correctly) showed us nothing but compassion as our Bella girl was passing. She spent time talking to us right after her passed. Seeing her compassion and love really helped us in feeling like she cared and has aided in our healing process because we knew Bella was in good hands. A few days later, we wanted to visit Bella one last time before she was cremated. A kind gentleman at the reception desk set us up with a room so we can say goodbye to our girl one last time - he wasn’t there during Bella’s emergency, but we felt his condolences and sorrow for us. The compassion and love felt from this animal hospital was incredible. Thank you so much for taking care of our girl up until the very end and for showing us pet parents the utmost respect, love, and compassion on one of the hardest days of our lives.

I wish the outcome was different, but the staff at First Coast were top notch. They provided all resources needed to try to save our sweet dog and the compassion we needed when we had to say goodbye. Highly recommend.

Words can not express enough how much we love first coast vets and their amazing staff! They have taken such great care of our dog Sulley after a very scary incident, and we couldn’t be more appreciative. Each staff member we encountered was so kind, and Dr. Weldon always took the time to talk us through what was going on in such an empathetic manner, making the process so much easier. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts ❤️❤️

When I was begging and pleading with you to do everything you can to save my dog, that was not the time to keep repeating how expensive it would be. My dog was actively dying and my husband told you we didn’t care how much it would cost.We lost our baby boy and now I can’t help but think, and it’s every day I’ve had these thoughts, if you had stopped telling us how expensive it would have been and just focused on him more, maybe he would have lived....$2k for plasma IS pricey for a lot of people, but after the third time you said it, I already understood. When we called, in a rush to get there, I told your rep we needed help outside to get my baby in, she said she’d be there too. No one was outside, do you understand how hard it was to open that door while holding my boy as he was dying?I add up the seconds and the minutes in my head.My vet called you before we arrived, said they already explained what was happening. But no one was ready?1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds... so on.Would my baby have lived? I don’t know, but maybe I wouldn’t be wondering. It wasn’t everyone at your Vet ER, but it was enough to feel like maybe it would have mattered and maybe you only saw the clothes I was wearing at the time, maybe you thought I couldn’t afford it then or maybe you thought he was too far gone, but damn.... I’m still thinking about it... I don’t know if you are Dr.
