For a free clinic, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The wait time wasn't outrageous, the staff was very informative and polite, from my experience I can tell they truly do care & want the best for their patients.

out for your money. they want you to come in 4 times a year without reason. no medical reason, just to get medical billing hours for insurance. I cap out at 72k per year, and they are trying to up it. I paid 6400 over my cap so far, and they cut me off. I can not get my meds. I have to call and beg for my life for the next 4 months. They are not registered with the state of Florida, if you have a complaint, you need to go through the state of California. good luck with that ! No actual doctor at the clinic. only a nurse. can't write prescriptions legally in Florida

Me and my insurance has been reaching out starting back in November last year and no one will respond or fill out the paperwork needed for the insurance company. I am now out of medication. What a joke this place is.

Very disappointed of this doctor's office they not only was playing with my well being and my life, but mental health as well . Not (Dr. Russ/Mrs. Carol they are the best people ever)but someone or some of the staff members at the AHF department has been tampering with my personal medical documents/records...and deleting information that should have not been deleted.Hindering me from getting all of my medical needs met... It really puzzled me,how when I didn't have a caseworker all of a sudden things started getting out of hand. I pray the Lord gives you guys Mercy for the trauma and pain you guys have caused my family and I ,for no apparent reason and Financial hardships . Even some of the staffat the Department of childrens and family on 515 West 6th street as well has been doing under handed wicked things with my personal information .

I visited AHF yesterday and had a great experience. I went to AHF as I am currently in-between health insurance and I wanted to see about getting a new prescription for Truvada (Prep), which I normally get from my Doctor, but being that money is tight I went to a public health option. A benefit of AHF is that you get STD testing for free. They are located in St. Vincent's hospital in the DePaul building. You park in the garage and go to the main building. They are on the 9th floor and will be located right outside of the elevators. The free clinic is on Wednesday and they open at 4pm. I would recommend arriving early as there will be a line. Being that is free they do the best they can and there will be a wait, so bring something to read and to keep you busy. I arrived at 3:15. They opened the doors at 3:45 and began handing out numbers. Upon getting your number, if it is your first visit, you will need to create an account on one of their computers in the waiting room. I was honest with my questions, but I made one error, which I was able to correct with the counselor later. Once I was called back, I was in a waiting room for a short while. The first part of my screening was to get blood drawn and provide a urine sample. These items were collected to test for gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia. They do draw blood with a needle so be prepared for that. It was not painful and the attendant did a great job and was kind with jokes to make the experience easy. After that portion of the exam, I was called back in with the HIV counselor, Ms. Precious. The HIV test is instant and you will get your results right away. She walked me through the testing process and had an excellent attitude. She made me laugh, engaged me in conversation, joked about my sexual history, gave me a sex education that helped me commit it to my memory and made me feel at ease where I was not nervous or focused solely on the test itself. After the test she gave my results and instilled safe sex practices in me and sent me off on my way with condoms in my pocket. In total, I was there about 3 hours. Since I don't have insurance they could not give me Prep, but she gave me the number of the Health Department so I can contact them next week to get my prescription of Prep. If you have insurance, they have a pharmacy onsite to get your medicine for you. Depending on your situation and test outcome, they will provide you the resources you need for your next steps. Don't be afraid to get tested. I understand the apprehension of not getting tested, but Jacksonville ranks in the top 3 of new HIV cases and we all have a duty to each other to protect ourselves and our community. If you are positive, you need to know to get the health care you need to protect others, yourself and your life. If you are negative, you need the consultation to get the information you need to stay that way. Either way there is no shame and you will be treated with respect no matter what at AHF. Take the time to get your check up. It is free and it only takes a few hours. You can always ask a friend to go with you if you are afraid. Reach out to your community, they will hold your hand. Gay, straight, transgender, it does not matter. All are welcome and all need to be tested. Thank you for all you do, AHF.
