I have done yoga only a handful of times. I often don't return to classes because I feel so out of place as a beginner. A friend recommended Black Cat Yoga studio to me and I desperately needed some ME time to unwind. The candlelight restorative class was just what I needed. Kevin made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. The space is beautiful and intimate. I cannot wait to go back.

I recently attended a yoga retreat at with Lisa and Kevin at Heartwood Retreat Center in Blue Ridge, GA and I have to say it was an amazing experience. Lisa and Kevin McCormick are truly awesome and their passion for yoga shines through in their teaching. The center itself is a peaceful oasis surrounded by nature, providing the perfect environment for connecting with oneself and finding inner peace. The daily yoga practice was challenging yet nourishing and the sound bath was heaven. I left feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the experience. I highly recommend Heartwood Retreat Center and Lisa and Kevin as instructors for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice and connect with nature.

I've only done a handful of 'yoga' classes in my life, and most of those were with fairly untrained instructors. What a difference at Black Cat Yoga. Kevin and Lisa are welcoming, kind, and devoted to the practice of yoga and to the people who attend their classes. I feel comfortable despite being a Type A who doesn't do 'hippie' and who knows almost nothing about yoga or yoga studios. In other words, they aren't too weird. lolPracticing yoga has been incredibly helpful for me to find a few quiet hours during the week where I am completely disconnected from email, phone calls, texts, and notifications of all kinds. It's been good for my spirit and soul. Not to mention how much better I feel physically. It has helped reduce the amount of back pain that I experience daily from sitting at a desk all day long.I can't tell you what kind of yoga they practice and I don't understand most of the terminology. I can tell you that it's a new found passion and I love going and being there in the space Kevin and Lisa have created. I particularly love the Wednesday Yin class. If you are interested in trying yoga for the first time this is a good place to start. Of course, there are people there who are clearly further along the path but they are also welcoming and affirming. 5 out of five stars, highly recommend.

I was invited to attend a yoga retreat being hosted by Black Cat Yoga in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It seemed like the perfect place to unplug and get away from the world, and it was!! Once I arrived to the cabin, there was a thoughtful swag bag curated with a black cat studio blanket, sticker, journal, itinerary, and flashlight for evening walks. Lisa and Kevin worked together and created a perfect environment for us to enjoy. The yoga practices were full of permissions to modify postures, information that I can only explain as yummy nuggets to deepen your practice or help you drop in for the ride, and they provide their own soundtrack using their own instruments. I trained to be an instructor at a big school in Jax, but have never experienced a studio that offers asana (physical practice), kirtan (singing in Sanskrit), yoga nidra (deep meditation), and sound baths (just magical). These are all of the things Lisa and Kevin planned out painstakingly for us. Additionally, we took a field trip to an orchard and tried different ciders and had a planned trip to hike to a waterfall (weather did not permit the latter). Aside from the planned itinerary, there was some down time should you be interested in a Thai massage or emotional release session. I highly recommend an emotional release session with Christina, that is also the cook at The Heartwood Retreat.I look forward to visiting Black Cat Yoga when I visit home again, as well as booking a future retreat. What an experience!!

Authentic, welcoming, and peaceful are just a few words that come to mind when I think of Black Cat Yoga! Kevin and Lisa have created a sanctuary here in Riverside/Avondale. Convenient class times with a variety of offerings from yin yoga to vinyasa and regular sound baths. If only I could give them more than five stars.

I began practicing at Black Cat Yoga in 2018 when I was staying with my parents while my husband were in the process relocating from Alabama to Orlando and we were looking for a new home. At the time, I was incredibly stressed, in pain from an injury and feeling helpless. I purchase classes through a Groupon special and all I can say was it was the best thing for me at the time.I mostly took Lisa's classes while I was staying with my family and I am so thankful and grateful for her kindness while I was feeling broken. She made me feel welcome, seen and care for and it was the perfect place for me to start deepening my yoga practice. I told her about my injury (torn hip labrum) and she showed me modifications. She encouraged me to be gentle and to go at my own pace. Now, when I am in Jacksonville visiting my family, Black Cat Yoga is my studio of choice for practicing. I love the calm and peaceful energy of the studio and both Lisa and Kevin a wonderful yoga teachers. If you are looking for a yoga studio to call home, or are visiting when in town, I encourage you to go. You'll be happy you did.

Being part of the Blackcat family has been an awesome experience. I was able to ask questions for my own understanding of the yoga practice. Lisa and Kevin are so welcoming and patient with students that are new to the practice. Love, love, love Blackcat yoga.

Black Cat Studio is such a magical space to practice. They bring in various elements to guide the practice deeper than poses and asanas. The community atmosphere is comforting and so welcoming! I love this studio and so happy to grow here ✨

Black Cat Yoga is the most authentic studio in town. Kevin and Lisa offer exactly what you need, even when you didn’t know you needed it. Beautiful place, beautiful practice.

I've practiced at many yoga studios around the country, and this is the first studio that feels like home the minute I walk in the door. The friendly faces, careful guidance for modifications, and genuine care for one another is remarkable. Knowing I can come to this studio makes me want to keep up my practice regularly!
