Beware of inspection process. Make sure to walk with inspector and keep an eye on them. They put that there was a scratch on the passenger door of my truck. I then asked them to please point this scratch out to me since I was not aware of any scratches. The inspector walked back out with me and was unable to locate one. He even started looking over the whole truck to try and find a scratch to show me. He was unable to find one, but would not remove it from the report. When a manager came to address the situation he acknowledged they were unable to find the scratch but would not remove from the report since he advised it did not affect the appraisal. Questionable business practice at best. SELLER BEWARE IN THIS CASE.

Don’t come here. They have a horrible warranty. I basically had to pay for a clutch assembly and other various parts because they’re 3rd party warranty ( they don’t fix cars they have another company who doesn’t cover anything do the work so the warranty is a scam.) the manager tells you one thing and then lies when it comes down to doing what he promised. Go to a dealer you will get treated better. -2014 ford Mustang). Also so you who ever reads this don’t trust the sales rep when it comes to warranties they will lie just to sell you a car. You know who you are.

Dishonest people through and through. I have been at this store at 11335 Atlantic Blvd. in Jacksonville on multiple occasions since the opening which is over 20 years and NEVER had a positive experience of dealing with these people. All this time I've had my mouth shut but today I finally had enough and felt that I needed to speak up.
A quick recap: I put up my vehicle for sale on Monday and received an on the spot offer from Carvana at $15K and a contingent online offer from CarMax at $15.6K (meaning I am guaranteed at least 15K no matter what).
So I'm dropping the car off in the afternoon first at CarMax naturally wanting to get a higher bid and they try to play the bait-and-switch trick on me (specifically calling out Fabian aka a CarMax Certified Appraiser). So there is his comment on the vehicle:
"Frame Damage Found, no longer eligible for online offer"...the rub here that there is no frame damage and this dude didn't even put the car on the lift, IMO it was only a pretext not to honor the price they pitch to the customer online. After everything said and done, they "generously" offer $12000 and I just couldn't stop laughing at such a bold face brazen deception. If you are thinking about selling your car don't bother with the scams at CarMax, there are plenty of other honest shops out there wanting your business.

Went there with someone else to sell their car. Experience was pleasant. Customer service was great. Did not take too long. Restrooms needed some attention though… kind of unsanitary.

My first car I got from Jacksonville fl the 2018 Lincoln continental I like the car but there was some issues with it they didn’t tell me about like one it had water on the passenger side floor board. It also had two different sets of tires on it that made it ride ruff. So I call CarMax and talk with someone about it and they claim the tires pass there inspection and they didn’t know anything about the water on the floor board. So I ask for a swap and found another Lincoln same model but a 2019 in Warner Robins, Georgia and had to drive there for the swap. I’m happy with the car I have now and it drives great, but I would ask if there could have been a mark down for the damage on the front left of the vehicle the salesman showed me, but I don’t think he ask a manager. So overall I’m happy but still would like some type of mark down or something for the scratches on the front right passenger side.

Friday, November 29th, 2024 at 2pm was my reserved appointment. I had my pre-approved financing through my credit union with check in-hand. Arrived at 2pm, walked in and was greeted by staff member stating "Oh, there's two people ahead of you....we will get to you as soon as we can."
2:40pm, still waiting, I decided to take my business somewhere else. Carmax, you missed the mark. I drove an hour to reach the Atlantic Blvd location. Disappointed to say the least.
So, I don't want to offer a negative experience without a proper solution.
Store Manager / Manager on-duty, what should have been done....
A representative or manager on duty should have greeted the customer, explained the reason for delay, and came up with a solution to remedy the inconvenience to the customer. I can think of a lot.
Either way, I understand I'm a drop in the bucket in your list of customers, but should you continue to do business this way; it might be more than me that walks away next time.

I left a review and for some reason it got deleted? Weird.
Anyway, my husband and I bought a car from here January 2024. We financed through CarMax as it seemed the easiest thing to do and a good idea. Wrong. I have what is considered perfect credit and they made my APR over 13%. My husband also has great credit. We noticed that it seemed like a majority of our car payment each month was going towards apr and CarMax pockets. Once we saw that, we immediately refinanced through our bank and now have about a 6% APR.
CarMax is okay for buying a car, BUT if you do DO NOT finance through CarMax. Go through your bank, or pay for the car outright and also check blue book because they are overcharging the vehicles.
Very greedy company.

The process is smooth but I still have not received the maintenance history for the car that I purchased. I have requested this information twice. Any assistance with sending me this would be fantastic!

Just left looking for a truck and noticed most of these vehicles are asking over bulebook value....I highly recommend going against a lot like this if you want a name brand for better value I can buy a brand new Toyota with life time of free oil changes. Puts things into better perspective. Also they don't take the time to build report, sadly but thankfully I can take my funds somewhere more suitable.....

DO NOT GO HERE TO SELL YOUR CAR. I went to 6 different dealerships and all of them offered me more than car max did. I wouldn’t even buy a car here because they are also more expensive than every other dealership! They have great customer service but don’t be fooled I rather have horrible service and get more for my car lol

Carmax just want your car for free. Scammers. I went to their place on Atlantic Blvd today and they had an audacity to quote me $300 for my 2006 Lexus ES 330. The car has $189,000 miles, which still have a few years left because it is Lexus. I get that. But $300? I have 4 new tires that worth more. Don't go there to get a cash offer. Scammers!!

I began my experience with CarMax in July 2024, excited to purchase a White Mazda CX-30 2021 with 48,000 miles. I visited the dealership several times, test drove the car, and even inspected it thoroughly with my significant other before finalizing the deal. I was confident in my choice. However, after purchasing the car and getting ready to take the classic picture with the big ribbon, we noticed a large red streak on the car, clearly indicating it had been hit. This mark was definitely not there during any of my previous inspections. When we pointed it out, the staff claimed the mark had always been there.
Despite this, I had already purchased the car and felt frustrated. They took the vehicle back and did a poor job of painting over the damage. The manager on duty gave me his business card, scribbled his initials on it, and offered me $75 to go out to dinner, as if that would resolve the issue.
To make matters worse, neither of my key fobs had hard keys inside, something that should have been checked before selling the car. I had to go back again, requesting that instead of a dinner, they simply fix the issue and provide me with keys.
Now in October, just 5,000 miles later, the air conditioning has failed. I took the car to my mechanic, only to learn that the A/C valve is broken and will cost thousands of dollars to repair. I’m left with a practically brand-new car that’s already giving me major problems.
The entire experience has been disappointing, from the poor service to the substandard product. I regret my decision to purchase from CarMax and will never recommend them to anyone.

Got an Instant Quote online to sell them my Minty 2017 X6M. Verified with corporate that the price with the Factory and Aftermarket Wheels would be the same, and that prior to removing my Aftermarket Wheels, I could take the car in to have it inspected to verify that everything else was in order and then I would bring the car back the following day with the factory wheels on it. Understanding it wasnt an "offical" quote I wanted to make sure my ducks were in a row. I show up and deal with a John Paul or Paul John. This Gentleman tells me that its a waste of his time to look at the car and that he does not want to have to look at the car twice, even know I spoke with someone at corporate who set the appointment and said its no problem. The Pope of Cars John Paul then decided to get extra holy and ask my to watch my language that this was a professional establishment during our conversation. So between being belittled by this man about my language, and telling me he did not want to have to do his job twice, I told him he just lost the chance to buy my car. On his way back inside under his breath he made a comment about my weight. So rather than buying my beautiful car, which I understand is a drop in the bucket for Carmax, I left with my pride as man of a certain age not accepting belittling from a uptight lazy employee who is more worried about proper etiquette and not having to do his job twice rather than making money for his employer. He also used the word "Partnering" too many times it made me fee extremely uncomfortable as I want customer service not a Partner lol.

DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM HERE! They are complete and total scammers. They don’t own up to their word or care about you after you step foot off their lot. My finance has a 2014 mustang that was having an issue, called car max and was told to take to their “approved” person, it was a tire outlet. We took our vehicle here just for the tire outlet to completely blow up his transmission to the point the car will not go into gear, was not like that when we dropped it off. We were told the transmission was dropped and it was a different issue but they were pressuring us to fix it because the transmission was already dropped. Fast forward a few days we go to pick up the car they said they never touched it and now there is a problem with the transmission. Car max refuses to take care of it after they forced us to go to a tire outlet for their service warranty. Complete totally nightmare no communication what so ever. Sales person told us when we bought the car we had car max he would cover the clutch if it went out if we purchased the max care. He lied and turns out he doesn’t have to live up to what he says. Nobody here can seem to get it together long enough to communicate to my finance either. Will never buy another car from this dealership.
