I requested a quote multiple times by phone and email over a 2 week period and have not received a response from this business. I cannot recommend this business to anyone. I have waited patiently for a simple quote. If it takes you this long to respond to someone, you shouldn't be in business. If you are a new customer like myself, avoid this place. It seems that most of the good reviews about this business are from long term customers. Some of the reviews are 4 years old, take it with a grain of salt. New customers beware !

Got my old Toyota truck running GREAT!David did some excellent work on my old Toyota truck. I did give him a hard time about how long it was taking - but ultimately I am very happy that he took his time and did it right - and I'm sorry I complained at all. I had it fixed a few months ago and I haven't had a single issue since. A 80s truck with close to 300k miles runs like a top. Thank you David and Japanese Auto Specialists!

David started his business decades ago and has been servicing my cars for about 8 years. This isn't a big shiny corporate operation, just a couple of lifts in an older industrial area. But, because David has forgotten more about Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, and even old Datsun vehicles than most mechanics ever knew, he can and does tell you what repairs are critical, what is optional, what is needed now, and what can wait. He will also take the time to break the work down to chunks that will fit into your monthly budget.David will also scold you about routine maintenance like fluid changes, etc. He will lecture you about the importance of keeping up with that stuff and how you can easily get 200,000 miles or more if you just take care of the routine maintenance for your vehicle :-)This kind of expertise and honesty is hard to find. That means that, at any given time, David has dozens of cars waiting for repairs and it takes at least a week to get an appointment. Good mechanics are in high demand. At times, my repairs have taken and extra day or two because David has moved someone whose car is broken down and has no other transportation to the front of the line.I happen to meet one of those other customers, an elderly widow with a half dozen grand kids that she drives to and from school and summer camp and one older Nissan Camry. I was supposed to be first appt that morning for a transmission flush but got bumped to do her oil change. Spent 30 minutes chatting with her in David's "waiting room". Nice lady, so I didn't mind. David's son even gave me a ride to a local restaurant and told me they all know her well and have taken care of her car for years. That's how David works. If you can't tolerate that, go somewhere else and pay just as much for half the quality.Japanese Auto Specialists (JAS) isn't cheap (and David will be more than happy to spend 15 minutes talking about how much it costs to hire quality mechanics these days :-) For one thing, he guarantees his work so he only uses manufacturer or OEM parts, no low quality knockoff China stuff here. David is even picky about which parts distributors he works with.BTW, there are a few terrible comments here about JAS and I think they are all totally fake. One even claims they deliberately loosened a spark plug wire, paid nearly $100 just to see if JAS could find it, and got a huge estimate for repairs. I don't buy that for one second and neither would anyone else who has worked with JAS.At the end of the day, I've never had a JAS repair go bad or strand me on the road and I've had JAS do some major repairs on my Infiniti.

Rude customer service. Called and spoke to David and he wouldn't even consider helping me or looking at my vehicle. Don't waste your breath. As you can see from David's response they are not kind. He cut me off while I was speaking to tell me that there were no openings until August. That was rude. I don't have issues finding a repair shop. I already found someone who was actually willing to help. Leaving an honest review is not being a internet bully. Maybe me nicer to potential customers and you won't get a bad review.

Mr. David was great explaining what was wrong with my vehicle. He showed what was not done or even preformed when service was supposed to be completed by the dealer. I will continue working with him. Very professional and knowledgeable.Services: General repairs & maintenance

This shop is great. I made an appointment and had to wait a good bit for it but David and his experienced crew treated my black tacoma very well. This guy has a wait because he knows his stuff and will not sell you un-needed stuff. If you want to be gouged go to the dealer. If you want your car fixed properly come here. To all the negative reviewers on this page, maybe YOU are the problem not him. If you bring an old hooptie in and dont spend money fixing it dont get mad at him . that is your fault. A vehicle is only as good as its owner and driver. Make an appointment by texting him and then drop your car off before 0800 on your appointment day and you get it back usually the same day. Real simple . theres also JTA bus stop right by the shop too if you need a ride back to your house or place of business if Uber is too rich for ya. what more could yall ask for? Even when I move to Mayo Florida out west I might just bring my taco back here.Service: Vehicle Inspection

We ended up not getting repairs done on my mom's 1999 Camry, due to mileage and extent on repairs needed, but the sheer speed of getting an estimate on the Friday before Christmas AMAZED me!! David communicated clearly and super fast via text message, and we're super grateful!! If I ever need repairs on a different car, I'm totally bringing it here!

Negative 10 stars if possible ! I have been coming to this place for over 10 years. back then it was actually A decent shop but that is not the case anymore. This place is great if you enjoy reading lengthy descriptions of why you should hurry and get your repairs done at the shop or if you enjoy having to bring your vehicle back multiple times after repairs are done because they were not done correctly. I try to support local businesses as much as possible but to avoid the hassle and the inconvenience you would be better off taking your vehicle to the dealership and paying the extra couple hundred bucks. I Was suppose to receive a full refund according to owner but never did, when asked about it I was told "I'll get back to you next week" And still no response months later

This place is amazing!! They do not add on additional things that are not needed. They give honest and up front pricing that is reasonable. My car runs perfectly after their repairs. Great customer service - direct and to the point. They are incredibly busy (because they are so good) but it is SO WORTH it to wait.
