Donations are not accepted if your child’s items are too “loved”. Not sure if the service is different for certain customers. Resell your kids sneakers if you can online you will come out better. Been here in the past but wasted my time for the last time.

I’ve been shopping at Once Upon a Child stores since before 2014 and started visiting the four Jacksonville locations regularly around 2016. Out of them all, this Mandarin location is the one I visit most often when I make the trek from Nocatee to hit Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. I remember when this store was originally near Trader Joe’s — the new location is a bit farther, but that’s perfectly fine.
Over the years, I believe this location has changed ownership a few times, but it has consistently remained one of my favorites. The prices here are very reasonable, especially on brands like bamboo and Lilly Pulitzer — often much lower than the airport or Orange Park locations, and definitely better than the Kid to Kid store just around the corner.
While I usually sell my higher-end items online, I bring my everyday brands and toys here because the process is easy and fair — and I don’t have to meet strangers in parking lots just to make a few extra dollars. I always make sure my items are freshly laundered, neatly organized in a container (not trash bags), and complete with all parts. I truly believe that kind of presentation makes a difference. If more sellers took a little extra time to prepare their items this way, they might have better experiences and offers too.
I also want to give a special mention to the gentleman who runs the store — he’s incredibly kind and helpful, and has even carried large items to my SUV more than once. It’s that kind of personal touch that keeps me coming back. I try to stop in about once a week when I’m in the area.
My only suggestion for improvement — and this goes for most resale stores, including Kid to Kid — would be to tone down the air fresheners. Strong scents can be overwhelming for those of us who are sensitive to them.
Overall, this location continues to be one of my favorites for both buying and selling children’s items. Always a great experience!

This place literally has everything from head to toe for the kids to wear. I would definitely recommend this place. The kids will love you for it.

Customer service is very poor. I walked inside to sell items. I was not experienced with how the selling process worked. I stood by the counter full of my bags of items. I was not acknowledged at all. All the employees were behind the counter, some looked at me a few times, but no acknowledgement. I figured they were busy, but I learned to find out I was ignored. Once the items were finally received, I was vaguely told that some items could not be accepted. I understand if the items showed age, but the majority of the items were brand new or lightly worn. When I told them this sweater is brand new, I didn’t get a response back. I was dumbfounded. I didn’t understand their process of selecting items, but I didn’t bother to press on because of their lack of communication prior. Needless to say, I won’t be shopping there again.

I’ve been coming here for the past 5 years of living in Jax and just wanted to say the last few times I’ve been I’ve noticed nicer staff, fast sell/pick up times. Just thought that deserved a great review! Keep up the awesome job!

I love the selection but the prices are just ridiculous on certain things and when the new owners came in I must say I'm a little bit disappointed with the change in organization and also the rudeness that I was treated with when I bought shoes that wouldn't light up and was not able to exchange them. The other owners would have definitely

Everything we come here we get GREATED and SMILES and it's CLEAN! The employees are super friendly and the new owners are so respectful and helpful. As of right now this is the only store I will go to and spend my time and money happily 😊

I've been shopping at this store since it was located on San Jose Blvd in the same plaza as Trader Joe's but I think that has come to an end. Going up to this location is a trek since I live a little south of St. Augustine so I buy a lot of item at once. Most of the time I get items I know will fit my children, but every now and then a boys size 12 (for example) doesn't fit true to size despite my best efforts to compare measurements. Previously (it's been at least a year), I have been able to return items or get a store credit within a 30-day window. Now that window has been shortened to 7 days. If I could always work it out so that I can take my kids with me to try on clothes, the return policy wouldn't be an issue but we all know life doesn't always work out that way when we make a big shopping trip out of town.
The employees have always been great but I won't be including Once Upon A Child in my periodic Jacksonville shopping trips anymore.

Very much do not recommend this location at all. Ever since the old owner has sold the store, it seems to have gone into a complete downwards spiral. The store has become so chaotic & the staff doesn’t seem to have a clue as to what it is they should be doing. Every time I used to come in I would see customers happy with their experience, now when I come in, all I see and hear is customers complaining about line waits, or how messy the actual store itself is now, or how overcrowded/unorganized & dirty the clothes look now. I have been coming here since 2021 and I see all new staff all of a sudden with these new owners. I wonder what it’s going to be like in the upcoming months, if it’s already this bad… maybe they should have kept the old employees. Or the old owner should have found different owners to sell the franchise to. I will no longer be recommending to friends and family to sell or buy their stuff here. With how it’s looking now & I’d say for the past few weeks, this place won’t be in business much longer and if it is it won’t be a good one. Such a shame to see such a wonderful and enjoyable location turn into the worst of the worst. I honestly will say from what I have heard from some of the employees that I no longer see, the new owners did not want the old employees there any more, I’m just hoping that it was the people themselves who decided to leave… and hoping it wasn’t that they lost their jobs at the expense of simply getting new owners. A lot of the employees I no longer see, I have seen for at least 1 year give or take depending on the employee. And they all seemed happy to be there or needed to be there to provide for their families. I really wish the people who once made this once upon a child, one of the best locations to shop at, are doing well, and working in a environment where they’re well deserved, because this new once upon a child, wouldn’t be very deserving of these few employees I speak of.
