I attended the Clay Aiken/Ruben Stoddard show. The show was great, they can still sign. It seems the Ritz got a face lift, hadn't been there in a while, but it was shining bright and clean. The rest room was very clean.

I can’t believe I have never been here. I have passed it my entire life. The museum was touching, relevant, and inspired. There is a concession stand. They were witty and kind. It made my symphony night even more enjoyable.

The museum was an excellent experience for myself and my family. There were beautiful exhibits around James Weldon Johnson and lovely artwork from different artists. We had a great time just exploring the museum and taking in all of the local history.
The Ritz Theatre and Museum was constructed in 1999 on the site of the 1929 Ritz Theater movie house in Jacksonville’s historic African American community of La Villa. During La Villa’s height of activity in the 1920s-1960s, it was known as the “Harlem of the South.” The mission of the Ritz Theatre and Museum is connecting communities to the past, present, and future contributions and stories of African American arts and culture in Jacksonville. The Ritz's vision is to serve as the destination and resource for our community as "The Harlem of The South" by leveraging , educating, empowering, and inspiring current and future leaders.
