After being a client for almost 3 years, after the disrespect that I experienced tonight from the substitute vet and her assistant, you have lost me as a client, along with my mom and her dog. I expressed that I had never had to wait that long (over 2 hours for an ear medication) and the vet tech came out of their room and told me that they are like doctors and I wouldn’t talk to my doctor that way, lol. Absolute insanity.

I feel ripped off $518.88 to tell me my dog has heartworms. I took my dog to our original vet about three weeks later, guess what.. she never had heartworms. I asked the vet if taking the two prescribed pills clear heartworms in dogs within three weeks, and they said no. It's apparent these people just wanted at quick $500.One thing I took from this experience is, do not pay without actual proof of the tests they ran. Do not.I took in my dog with a wheezing sound. They told me about all different tests that they could run on my dog. I told them that I am unemployed and cannot afford much. I asked if they could just start with the blood work (heartworm test is done with blood). The veterinarian told me that my dog tested positive for heartworms and she recommended two pills, Prednisone and Doxycycline. When they gave me the pills and took me to check out, they charged me for a load of supposed tests they ran, after I told them to start out with a blood test and keep me informed. They billed me $518.88!! They provided NO PROOF of any of the tests they said they ran. NONE. Like any doctor you go to, they have to provide to proof of labs, xrays, tests anything, not just take their word for it.Update: I spoke with the office manager. She told me that she is aware of my situation (being unemployed and not wanting a slew of tests ran and of my dog's wheezing,) and my conversation with the vet tech. I asked if she could reimburse my card the extra services that I did not authorize because again, I told them to start out with the bloodwork and we'll go from there--this includes me and my response in every step of the decision-making process. Instead, they took the liberty to "run" a slew of tests then charged me for it. The office manager said no, there's nothing she can do, but that she's sorry. I told her that an experienced and competent veterinarian would have noticed signs and symptoms of heartworms and started out with a heartworm test and stopped once they see it's positive. And first talk with me about the results of the bloodwork (again, a heartworm test is done through bloodwork). And she said that I authorized it when I paid for it. The office manager was unwilling to do anything. She just ran her mouth trying to find a rebuttal for anything I brought up to her.

I have used Southside Animal Clinic for each of my five pets ...2 dogs and three cats...from 1969 until now. I am very satisfied with the medical care, concern, and prompt attention to my pets' needs. So thankful for all who have been a part of caring for my furry best friends!

I cannot thank this team enough! Our dog is in the middle of a lengthy recovery, which has had our family going back and forth each week over the past month and a half, and honestly would not want any other doctor or team helping us through this process! Dr Burgess has poured all of her love into ensuring our pup is on the right treatment plan and steadily getting better day by day. Also, her amazing team and VET tech Brenna has been relentless in bandage changes, photos of updates, communication, and so much more. Thank you all so much!

I will always recommend Southside Animal Clinic to anyone in search of a good vet. Being a pet owner is such a rewarding experience. Our fur babies become part of our families and it's so important to have a vet you can trust. My thirteen year old tabby Alley Cat had been suffering in pain from advanced stomatitis for a few years. I had taken her to a previous vet in the city and never truly felt comfortable going through with the full dental extraction that was recommended. Over time the medications prescribed were no longer alleviating her pain. I knew it was time to find a new vet. Dental procedures can be scary enough for humans and even more challenging for tiny little animals. I had been to Southside Animal Clinic many years ago to assist with a sick dog and with recently moving back to the area, I knew I needed to call. I know for me personally, I always worry I have waited too long to treat my pet. Dr. Burgess was nothing but kind, patient and understanding. I expressed my concerns, worries and was never made to feel I was overreacting. There was testing conducted to ensure Alley was fit for the procedure and after getting clearance, I scheduled the appointment. The dental surgery was conducted in two sessions. Dr. Burgess ensured this would be less impact on my cat and I trusted her opinion. Dr. Burgess called and checked in during both procedures and really made me feel at ease through the entire process. The staff was kind, compassionate and always friendly. John the vet tech and the front office staff always greeted me with smiling faces each time I walked through the door. Alley Cat is doing exceptionally well, better than I could have imagined. I cannot thank Dr. Burgess and the Southside Animal Clinic staff enough, for you have given my cat a pain free, happy life and I am forever grateful.

First visit here. Friendly staff. Safe environment for pets. My pittie does not like other dogs. The interactions between other animals were non existence and I loved that!! The staff was attentive and caring. The prices were reasonable.

This was our first experience with Southside Animal Clinic. Our vet was unavailable and we were trying to be seen on a Friday. I called at 11:20 AM, explained our situation, and was told the first available appointment was on Wednesday. Okay, understandable, we’ll take it in case we can’t get anything else sooner. Little while later I get a call back… “I asked the doctor about your situation and she said we can fit you in at 2:00?” Sold!We get there early and are shown straight to a room. John is in to take vitals and a history almost immediately. He’s as gentle as can be with Sylvia, and doesn’t seem rushed at all. A few minutes later, he brings us a bowl of water and apologizes for the wait. When Doctor Burgess comes in, I have my wife and son on speaker phone. She answers questions from them just like they’re in the room.Blood work. X-rays. Doctor Burgess has the results immediately and talks to us at length about our options. We leave with meds and instructions and a whole lot more information about Sylvia’s condition. (She offered to have the bloodwork sent out, says it would be less expensive… nice to be given the option.)Sylvia’s not walking, so John has the front desk person come to the room to take payment, and offers to carry her to the car for me?!!!?Taking a sick pet to the vet is never a fun experience, but no complaints here at all!
