Rented a van at Jacksonville airport. Was over charged for liability insurance by the guy at the counter. He was horrible. He told he could not take off the $95 charge and I would have to call the main service center. I called and They told me there was nothing they could do. The van wasn’t ready and the incompetent bungler behind the counter tried to get me to accept a small car that would nit have worked. The van was not cleaned and the whole experience was the worst car rental experience I have ever been involved in. I want my $95 back for something I did not approve to be charged for.

Allow me to pile onto the already abysmal reviews.I arrived on a delayed flight at 11pm and was told there were no more cars to honor my reservation. I was not the only one this happened to. What is the point in a reservation if the inventory is not available? They said I could return in the morning and they would have a vehicle for me. My plans were dependent on getting a rental and I was on a tight schedule. I was forced to find an alternative which ended up costing me 4x the cost of my reservation. This single location has deterred me from considering Thrifty ever again in the future. You can keep your responses, I'm done with this company.

Myself and my fiancé booked through Priceline as we ALWAYS do and chose the suppliers choice car as we ALWAYS do on vacation. There was no disclosure stating that it would end up being an electric vehicle. When we got to Jacksonville airport, thrifty told us that they disclose this, which was never disclosed through Priceline and we had no choice but to speak with Priceline. It took me 45 minutes at the airport to get ahold of someone with Priceline and they basically told us there was nothing they can do. So we ended up having to pay an additional $108.00 dollars on top of already paying for the rental car so we could get a gas vehicle since it was considered an “upgrade “. Why would I have chose this if I could have paid the same exact price at that time if I knew this would happen. No manager at thrifty either that could help us and I want our money back especially since we already paid our way prior to having to get charged more money for a gas vehicle when it should have been that to begin with! Our family lives in Tallahassee and there is not many electric charge pumps nor do we even drive electric vehicles. My fiancé and I will not be booking again with thrifty as this is not how you do customer service! This is how you rip people off!

TL/DR: Thrifty operates under essentially fraudulent business practices, and their customer service is abysmal. We rented a car for two days out of Jacksonville airport. We waited in line for over an hour, and then it took another 30 minutes to even get the car. Our reservation should have started at noon and we didn't get the actual car until 3:45 p.m. We then called separately to confirm that would be able to extend our rental return time to around 3:45 p.m. two days later without an additional charge. Which we did--we returned the vehicle by 4 p.m. after having been directed from an incorrect garage to the correct garage by airport employees. My friend had left a purchased item in the backseat of the car and had to submit a loss claim, which she did that evening. We have documentation to prove that we returned the car when we said we did, yet when I received the bill 3 days later, Thrifty had charged us for returning the car late by 2 full days. I had to call customer service again to dispute the charge, for which they apparently filed a claim (never received an email to confirm) and then was told to follow up in 3-5 days if I hadn't heard anything. Predictably, 3 days later, I hadn't heard anything and also was billed the $348 when we should have only been charged $73. I had to call yet again, and was told that the claim had been denied due to "the car not being returned to the correct parking garage and it took Hertz two days to report the car returned." So I was forced to threaten to call my credit card company to dispute the claim before they would issue a refund for $221.37. I was told it would take up to 7 business days for the refund to be processed (again, received no email confirmation that this would be the case, I was just supposed to trust that they would do the right thing at this point). Happily, I was surprised to find that the refund had processed. I thought the matter was closed until yesterday when I received a BILL for $5.38. Had to call TWO MORE TIMES today, one time having been HUNG UP on. By the second call, it was explained that they had "incorrectly billed me for $348 when it should have been $353, so they had reimbursed me too much and thus had to bill the difference."SERIOUSLY?! For $5.38?! Supposedly they have escalated and I have yet *another* claim currently (yet again, no email confirmation, just a number the representative gave me over the phone). I'm supposed to check in once again to see if it's been resolved; they won't notify me either way. I cannot believe businesses get away with operating like this. I've never had such awful customer service. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

We arrived at this Thrifty car rental after leaving Ohio destined for St. Augustine. With nobody in line, we sure didn't anticipate having to wait an hour and a half for a car. No wonder there was no one in line. There were people in line at all the other rental places and this place had nobody waiting. I can't believe that I've got to sit here in an airport and wait an hour and a half for a car. This is really unacceptable. I will never again rent a car from Thrifty. If you are researching rental cars at Jacksonville airport, I would avoid this place like the plague.

If I could give a lower score I would. The service while they tried to be nice only carried one type of vehicle (electric), forced me into a larger vehicle than what I ordered and an upcharge to me and required a prepayment of charging the vehicle. This was not a choice of mine as Expedia built this car service into my flight purchase. I will never use this car service again. The service attendants at the counter all seemed too new to be manning the counter by themselves. Also entirely interested in helping customers who are unfamiliar with modern electric controls let alone fully electric vehicles.Totally disgusted with how this was handled and how this was forced upon me.

Although the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the time wait was totally unexceptable. Waited in line for 35 minutes to sign the paperwork and then over two hours to get our car. AND according to the gentlemen that waited on us, this wasn't even a busy time. They will have to give me a car for free to get my business again.

I rented a car from the Thrifty in Seattle Washington. Drove it from the rental place to my hotel and back in over a 13 hour period. According to there own receipt they sent me I only drove the car 28 miles (which it is 13 miles one way to the hotel and back, so that sounds about right.). Of course when you drop it off there is no one there to assist you so they tell you to just leave the keys in the car. When I get my emailed receipt (again showing the 28 miles driven) they are billing me for 11 gallons of gas at $12.15 a gallon. How could I use 11 gallons of gas for 28 miles???? So send in a complaint request and all I get back is a email saying that I have to return it with the same amount of gas as I picked it up and that is all. Nothing about how I could've used 11 gallons of gas for 28 miles... No other recourse, this company is the worst!!!!!!!!

My husband and I reserved a car several weeks before our trip to Jacksonville. We had a late flight that arrived to Jacksonville around 11pm. When we went to pick up the car, they informed us there were NO cars available. They also had absolutely NO solution for us to get a car that night. They said we could come back the following day at 11am and they MIGHT have a car. We did not receive a call/email/text prior to coming to the counter regarding them not having a car. We were one of many receiving this bad news which resulted in several people going to the other companies hoping they had cars available. We were dependent on the car for our trip and somehow got the last car from a different company but had to pay 3x higher than our original reservation. It was an overall horrible experience and we would NOT recommend anyone to use them for car rental services. We will NEVER work with them again.

We are being forced to take an electric car when that’s not what we paid for. Been waiting 30 minutes for a manager. We’ve tried explaining that we know nothing about electric cars and the contract we have does not include an electric car. This is a horrible experience. We’re watching everyone else leave with regular automatic cars and they insist that we take an electric car. We’re still waiting for a manager. They deserve a negative one.-A. Hopkins

They don't even deserve a star, but I couldn't leave a review without one. Never never rent from these people first off there customer service is the worst I have ever experienced! The lady at Jacksonville airport needs herself a new job! She was so inconvenienced to help me, she was rude and acted like I was the biggest idiot. I have never rented a car never will again at least not from them. There 800 number is a joke to guess it's a all around problem. I work with the public and would never treat anyone the way I was treated. Shame on you thrifty for hiring clearly unqualified people. They all need a class on customer service. You're employees are a horrible representation of your company!

BEWARE. Bait and switch tactics.Compact car was reserved. Upon arrival at 10pm and after a 30 minute wait in line we were told that the class of car we reserved was not in stock and that we could either wait in the garage for one to arrive or pay for an "upgrade" to an Accord. It was late and we didn't feel like there were any good options. The upgrade cost $100 more for 4 days, and the reservation was for $130.I've rented cars many, many times in my life and it's standard practice to provide anything that's available while honoring the reservation price, even if it's a Mustang. We will never rent from Thrifty again.

The initial process was fast and fine. When I turned the car on, several warning indicator lights were on. I lugged my bags back inside to get a different car. It took about 20 minutes to get into a new one. When I turned the second car on, a warning indicator light was on. I had to lug my bags in again to get another car. I was finally assigned a third car with no issues. The car ran fine. Return was quick and easy. The $200 hold on my card was removed the day after return. Overall, I will probably go with a different company next time, as I get the impression they do not check their vehicles for roadworthiness before renting them out.

Upon arriving at the Jacksonville airport to pick up my rental car through Thrifty, I was met with resistance and refusal to let me get my car. I reserved this vehicle through Expedia at least a month ago. I was informed that due to my Drivers license name of Debora Mahoney didnt match my credit card name of Debbie Mahoney, they wouldnt allow me to use my credit card for deposit and refused to allow me to get my car. I had been traveling since 800 am with my 92 yr old mother. Our flights were delayed multiple times and we were exhausted. The agents and supervisor were unsympathetic to our plight. I was very stressed. I was forced to go to another agency and rent a vehicle for over 650.00 so we had transportation. This is unacceptable! I rented from Thrifty last year at a different airport without issues. im very dissapointed, frustrated and will never use or recommend Thrifty again.Debbie Mahoney
