DO NOT RENT from the Budget Key Largo location. Unhelpful, rude, has no interest in helping customers. This is a franchise location and they hide behind that and use it as an excuse as to not help resolve customer issues.

Worst place ever. Our car, picked up at the Miami airport, releases a smell of burnt gas whenever we put the ac on. When I called someone extremely rude told me that the only way I had to fix the issue was to return it to the Miami airport . And then he hanged up the phone . What happened to customer service?

rented a car online got there and the man that has been working there 1. has no customer service skills, 2. did not have a car there for me and I had paid in full online. 3. told me he could not refund me my money and that I had to call customer service. 4. I asked why I did not get a phone call and he advised me the system was down 5. as I told him this was unacceptable his words were that basically were sorry about your luck good bye and I did have some few choice words back to him.. so before you rent here . do not order online as they have very few cars that's why there prices are so much cheaper than everyone else around that area , also make sure they have the car available that you want at the time you requested . I did call budget and yes they did refund me my money back they told me it would take 5 days but that being said the storefront itself should be able to do a credit since they take your payment there.. THIS DESERVES NO STARS,, and if you read other comments you will see that anyone that needs a car to go to another airport to drop off there always seems to be an excuse from this guy

RIP OFF!!! We needed to change our drop off location for our rental car, I called the office twice to confirm what I needed to do. I was told I had to bring the car back, close out that ticket and open a new one to change the drop off location in order to avoid the fee. I did exactly what I was told to do and was still charged a $300 fee to drop the car off somewhere else. I called them as soon as I saw this charge and they said they could not help me, they would have to contact the manager and give them my information. I called back the next day because I did not hear anything back. The same person answered the phone and told me he spoke with the manager and I just need to wait for them to call me back. Still no call back. In the mean time I contacted the 1800 number to speak with customer service. They weren't any help either. RUDE. I was offered back $200. So it cost me $180 to rent a car to go from Key Largo to Ft Lauderdale as apposed to the $35 on my receipt. I said that was not acceptable and I called back the office and the same person answered the phone and this time he was very rude. He told me all they do there is rent out the car and hand over the key and I needed to wait for management to call me. I asked to speak with the manager and he said he could not give me their contact information. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH BUDGET ***PERIOD*** I should also mention that I had that rental car though that date with my original ticket. They screwed me over.

Reserved a car for a one-way to Miami airport. Very early flight Monday morning so I had to pick up the car on Saturday and pay for an extra day because Key Largo Budget is closed Sunday. (Why? ) I reserved the car 3 weeks in advance and at 10am Saturday morning (Budget closes Saturday at 1pm) there were no cars available. Anyone can take a reservation, HOLDING the reservation is the most important part of the reservation process. The Clerk was polite but not helpful. I called customer service, equally unhelpful. This is a recurrent issue, Budget doesn't care. It's been going on for several years. Scheduled an Uber that cost only $20 more than my 2 day rental, lesson learned. Call 2 days ahead to confirm they will have your car.

I had a one way rental with budget. I was late returning, but had no issues. Ashraf took great care of me and was very professional. I'd gladly pick up or drop off here again!

I was surprised to read the reviews, consistently negative below. I needed a rental vehicle for a few days while enjoying the keys from our sailboat. It was a quick and easy online experience to rent a full size car for a very reasonable price. I reached the rental counter on time. The man operating the counter was friendly, kind, and even generously upgraded our car for the term of our rental for no extra charge. I had to leave a review showing the kind and considerate experience I received while doing business here. In fact, I'm going to extend our rental when I return the upgrade today...

Just a quick sum up would entail this is an individual owner franchise that runs to his own liking and does not follow what budget normally follows with customer service. I reserved a compact car with them and on the day I arrived at the time to collect the rental the man at the counter states he does not have the car class I reserved. His reply is the next class of car up is the only available and I have to pay almost double my reserved rate. When I told him this was an unfair practice and was at no fault of my own that he sold out my class of car his reply was that I either pay that much higher rate or leave without a car. i left without a car as I am not going to be extorted. I have rented many cars over the years from a variety of car rental places and whenever a car of the class reserved wasn't available the next class was given and honored at the original reserved rate. Not here! Just beware that reserving a car here does not mean much of either getting the class of car you reserve nor the price reserved.

reservation 8:00am arrived @ 8 several people at door waiting not open. more people continued to show up to drop off or pickup, at least 15 customers waiting. 9:30 building maintenance man showed up unlocked building could handle returns, could not rent. informed someone from Miami was supposed to open office. Next door shop owner informed us this was very common I had to go to Homestead to rent car to get to airport. they should close this place

Please do NOT rent from here! I pre-paid for my car 2weeks in advance. When I went to pick up my car at my scheduled time, I was told "it is running 2 hrs late" call later to see if it is here. I called at 4 and was told it was 30min away. I went back to rental store, and sat until 5:10. The car NEVER showed up. Nash(the employee) claimed he went above and beyond by staying late waiting, when in fact his ONLY job was was to provide a car. Kicked us out told us to call customer service to get our money back(because he "couldn't do anything to help" He wouldn't let us use the store phone to call while we were there. His last statement was "if the car is here tomorrow, I could rent it" he would be there at NOON, not 8am(opening time) $400 later I had to taxi and Uber from key largo to fort myers. Thank you Nash and BUDGET for ruining my day and my trip!!! Now I am sure I have to fight to get my money back for a car that was never provided!!!!!!

Really it's a zero. Our reservation was for an 8am pick up. No one was at the location...we waited for an hour, still no one showed. A call to corporate yielded no help except to say they would book us a car through Enterprise. Well, Enterprise did not have a car available so now we are without a way to get to our flight in Ft. Lauderdale. So I would say that a reservation with this company is worthless.

Unreliable! Left me stranded with no vehicle to get to the airport... offered zero solutions. I had a car reserved for 9am... still no car/suv/vehicle available by noon! Clerk told me to call some other rental service. Thrifty, a few miles away, said they always have customers showing up frantic and angry because this Budget location (Key Largo) continually disrupts and ruins travel plans for their customer with paid reservations. If the staff knew when they closed the night before that they would need to have a car available when they opened the next morning, why didn't they make arrangements to provide one? Missing a flight, finding an affordable hotel, re-booking flights, and missing work--all because of this Budget location. I will never use this place again--go Thrifty (Tavenier, FL)!
