I had an awful experience with amateurs at Advance Auto Parts in Key West. I went in to get a new battery. The young man who was initially helping me barely spoke and did not appear to be knowledgeable on the subject of batteries. The manager came over to assist and told me my "car takes the platinum battery." I had previously used the gold battery (purchased from an Advance Auto parts store in Texas and it did just fine). I asked if there were any other options because the platinum battery was quite a bit more expensive than my previous battery. The manager told me the platinum battery really was the best one for my vehicle and the gold would only be 20 dollars less. I agreed to purchase the platinum battery. After I paid I walked outside with the young salesman who was initially helping me. He attempted to remove my gold battery but was unsuccessful. This attempt last for more than 30 minutes before the manager finally came out to let me know they were getting a different set of tools. After the manager tried to remove the battery he told me I would need to take the vehicle to a mechanic and have the terminals replace and my battery changed. He recommended PitStop.
I called PitStop and made an appointment. Unfortunately this all fell on a holiday weekend so I had a dead vehicle in my driveway for three days before someone was able to come check it out. The PitStop mechanic removed my old battery in less than 2 minutes. He examined the terminals and told me they do not need to be replaced, rather they just needed to be cleaned. He installed the new battery for me and told me I should not have purchased the platinum battery because it will most likely not last any longer than the gold battery would have. Additionally, he told me there was probably more than a 20 dollar difference in the batteries. I had to pay 100 dollars for PitStop to come to my house (for a total of less than 10 minutes) to simply change my battery because the staff at Advance Auto Parts couldn't figure out how to do it.
I am disappointed the manager influenced me to purchase a more expensive battery that I did not necessarily need and caused me to spend an extra 100 dollars for someone else to complete the service the store should have provided me.

Went to pick up 1 qt of oil and waited in the store for 15 minutes with no one at the counter and 2 other customers waiting. 3 people at the wholesale desk never got up. Left the store
