One star only because zero stars is not an option! If you like getting ripped off go to the Avis/Budget desk at Key West airport. My companion was unable to rent the vehicle she made a reservation for due to an Equifax report she was told at the desk so I rented the same car instead as I was standing right next to her when they denied her reservation. Her total would have been $130 for two days including $12/day insurance. I requested the same insurance option and was told my total would be $142.No big deal, I thought, since I was making a walk up reservation. They charged my credit card the $142 plus a $200 security deposit which I was told would be refunded upon return of the vehicle ( which was to be at the Fort Meyers Airport ). That all seemed reasonable but after I returned the vehicle the next evening in Fort Meyers, I received an email receipt for a charge of $303 that had additional charges ( $114 of which was not itemized ) including extra insurance coverage I did not originally agree to and a $15 late fee even though I returned the vehicle before the time agreed upon. My companion, who originally made the reservation, witnessed all of this as she was standing beside me when I made the transaction. After reading other reviews here, I realized I am not the only one getting swindled by Avis. Take your chances if you dare but I'll never rent from them again!

Avis considers a Nissan Sentra a midsize car. I rented a mid-size car from this company .I'm 6'4" and barely fit in the car they rented to me. If you Google Nissan Sentra it's listed as a subcontact or a compact car.

It would hav even really nice if the employee would have helped the customer vs. organizing her inventory while we stood there. Not customer focused.

Booked online through my AAdvantage card. Purchased additional rental car insurance through Allanz. Was told I would owe $537.45 at the pickup counter. Lady at the counter wanted to know if I wanted additional insurance. I told her I had already purchased it. When we got back from our vacation our emailed receipt was for $690.15 with a charge of $115.50 for additional insurance I had previously declined. When I contacted them they said they would only reimburse me for half $57.75 of the insurance which I had declined. I've always dealt with Enterprise in the past but thought I would give Avis a try. Never again!Avis Customer Service contacted me after seeing my review. After 2 emails back and forth my overcharge was refunded and all is good now. I would recommend them in the future. Just be sure you look at the agreement before signing it.

NEVER rent from Avis or Budget (they share a desk) at Key West Airport! If there is a chance of your flight coming in late you can’t contact them and they close at 6:00 regardless if you have arrived or not. Can you say stranded?! The desk for 3 other rental companies was OPEN!

Needed a last minute vehicle. Stopped at the Avis/Budget counter at the Airport without a reservation and got a car in less than 5 minutes. Kris M. helped us out and she was awesome. *Be mindful that the airport is extremely busy and they are hard at work getting your vehicles ready!5 ⭐️ friendly service

My issue was not with the personnel at the airport. My issue was the fact that their debit card policy was not clearly posted. They claimed that they have not taken debit cards since 2017 for local rentals when I use the debit card just three months ago and no problems, it does look like they’ve turned over their entire staff so maybe they have much stricter management now but they need to post any deviations from the website as far as payment policy goes they don’t have anything about that.

Do not rent or reserve a car with Budget/Avis in Key West Airport, Florida. February 24, 2024; my husband and I reserved a car with Budget/Avis at the airport at Key West Airport for $236 dollars, when we arrived there, they said they could not verify our identity with the reservation, therefore they cannot give us a rental. But if we rent a car like a walk-in customer, they can verify and rent the car for us with $502.00. We had no choice but rented the car for $502 because we are already there. Just for 3 days and we mostly stay at the hotel and not even use the car, we probably drove like 30 miles.

No preferred service in Key West. Be ready to wait in a very long and slow moving line to simply pick up your keys.

Easy APP reservation process. Fast check in and return. I was very happy with the new Lincoln SUV - nice car. The counter reps, at check in and return, were the best I’ve experienced in a long time. WELL DONE!!!!!

Car smelled like marijuana, the windshield was very dirty and needed a good scrubbing. Very little windshield washing fluid. The car started to act funny towards the end (like it was stuck in low gear when slowing and making turns).
