I had a safety deposit box here for many years, had to open a checking account in order to have the box. When I closed the box and the account the “process” to refund the deposit was an absolute joke. Customer service rep closed my account before issuing the credit and apparent there was no easy workaround! After a half hour I just left - she kept telling me to sit because I was standing and walking around. I was shocked that they actually mailed me the refund weeks later but it was less that they had said it would be….glad I’m not relying on this bank to function for any important need

Lacking in customer care and service with the refusal to do things electronically, thus this bank is going backwards in time. In such a transient area, this does not suit their customers well. Let's hope they can catch up with the information age, but until then, I recommend you invest elsewhere!

First state bank has been personal and business bank for over 20 years I would never consider any other bank!!

My family have been account holders for 60+ years. The service has continued to decline to the point that we will be closing our accounts. What an absolute disappointment. This used to be a place where locals could go for a guaranteed type of service, now it’s a disaster.

Is there a negative star to denote the real customer service at this bank? Trying for hours to deposit money into my checking account at the ATM transaction not allowed. Why? So they can charge me an overdraft fee?? Really?

Terrible customer service! The worst online banking ever..Some employees are rude on weekends. Many employees speak other languages than English (in particular Spanish) in front of customers and other employees

Yuri and other First State employees were helpful and patient during our purchase of a home in Big Pine Key. We are from out of state and I appreciated the way she explained how things are handled in Florida compared to our state, without making me feel like an outsider.

Absolute worst bank you could ever sign with i would rather store my money in a fire pit cause atleast you’ll be able to find the ashes and know what happened with your money :). Horrible transaction update speed, horrible customer service, horrible overdraft policy, horrible everything. :) wouldnt mind if the location of this bank got replaced with a mcdonalds.

Terrible customer service. I called and the lady was so rude and when I asked a simple question she called me a disrespectful slur and hung up. This is very unprofessional and I expected better from a literal bank. Next time I'll just store my money in the middle of a Walmart bakery isle because it is probably safer there than at this bank.

The worst customer service imaginable.When traveling out of the country they consistenly shutdebit cards even after telling them of travel plans and there is no way to contact them on the weekends.So now temporarily penniless in europe!

2nd time this happened among other inconveniences. Wrote a check for $50,000. To buy a boat. I left town. While traveling back to kw first state called to verify the check. They said the signature card from 30 years again did not look enough like this signature. Luckily I was able to get there before closing. Other wise they would have refused the check. We all know the trickle down from a refused check. SO DO THEY!I asked them to print the last 5 checks and that one. The signatures almost identical. Obviously mine. Why did they cash those other checks? Some over $5000.00 Verify it with a 30 year old signature. Good work Sherlock! Next time you see me will be to close my account. Three strikes you’re out.

one of the worst banks We have ever worked with, no calls back, their service felt lazy, low knowledge of their industry, inconvenient, excruciatingly long delays to post payments and flat out the worst mortgage we ever got, thankfully we paid the mortgage off as fast as we could just so we never have to deal with this awful bank and their awful loan people again, avoid them like the plague and don't give these careless people your hard earned money, they don't appreciate you as a customer and ALWAYS make you feel like you are bothering them. They seem to be operating in the last century as they don't even have a way to make a mortgage payment online, everything is snail mail, phone calls and wasteful paper, this place needs to get with the program and modernize, it's not the dark ages anymore. Good riddance

I am just not sure where the direction comes from, for this bank. I deposit funds, taking nothing out....it has to be approved everytime? Also, you go in for multi services with the same person and they require you to show your license twice?? The tellers spend most of time going to the manager getting my deposit approved or if you need cash or wire you have to wait forever. I feel bad for the employees, the shareholders should really review the processes of this bank. The one thing that has improved is the website and the accessibility.
