Disappointing Customer Service Experience
I had an extremely negative experience at this hotel due to the treatment by the receptionist, whose name is Wayne. After my stay, he refused to return my deposit, claiming that a sheet was dirty. I have traveled extensively and stayed in many hotels, and I know that deposits are generally withheld for significant damages, like breaking something, not for dirty sheets or towels, which is a normal part of occupying a room.
Wyne’s behavior was unprofessional and lacking in empathy. Additionally, it seemed like he wanted to keep the deposit simply because it was in cash. He appeared more interested in justifying the withholding of my money than in providing good customer service. This was not only unfair but also left a bad impression of the entire hotel.
I have a photo of Wayne, which confirms who was responsible for this poor experience. I suggest that the hotel reviews its policies and better trains its staff in customer service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and I definitely will not be staying here again.

We were looking for a place to stay a night. Seashell motel was super clean, the staff were very welcoming and we enjoyed our stay.

Booked the room just as a place to sleep for the night after camping on Dry Tortugas. Was pleasantly surprised. Room was clean. Staff was friendly. Location close enough to everything I wanted/needed. I would stay here again.

Overall, it's a decent place to stay for a couple of nights, but the lack of internet in the room was very frustrating.
Rooms: The rooms were small, but actually, it’s quite nice when not all six people are staying there. It was really clean.
Safety: Keep in mind, there no dedicated space to put your stuff, you have to pay to have a locker outside for your baggage.
Walkability: Great spot for this price. Close to the Higgs beach.
Noteworthy details: The wifi and mobile internet were not working in the room. I had to walk out to have internet connection.
Almost no privacy, the curtains are too small.

Girls beware. My friend (who is a girl) and I stayed here yesterday. She took the female dorm, and I took the mixed dorm. She soon realized after entering the girls dorm that it was directly connected to the mixed dorm via an internal corridor with the bathroom being shared. This means that guys can enter the female dorm easily, which compromises the safety of the girls. More so, she also noticed a guy in one of the beds. This itself will make me never return, and I will request all girls to only visit once they know this.
Outside of that here are a few areas where Seashell Motel can improve:
1. Ensure all the charging points for all beds are working. Mine didn't work. My friend said hers kept going on and off.
2. Clean the fans for each bed. They are extremely dirty and full of dust.
3. Equip the room with a better air conditioner. Only the bed adjacent to the air conditioner gets air circulation and gets cooled well.
4. The blanket was a thin bed sheet! It would help to give a nice comfortable comforter or thick cozy blanket for good sleep.
5. The pillows were uncomfortable and had some plastic wrapping that kept making a sound. Invest in softer comfortable pillows.
6. Ensure parking is easily available since you list that it is offered. Only after reaching the property was I told it is first come first serve. Fortunately, it was the weekend, and the neighboring property lot is available to park at for free.
7. Make your bicycles free to use. If someone is paying $88 for a night you expect that basic amentiy to be for free and not $20 plus dollars. Word of advice for others. There are a few cycle rental companies in key west that offer cycles ranging from $10 to $15 for all day.
Overall I felt very disappointed. I have stayed at multiple hostels for significantly lesser costs and had significantly better experiences. My recommendation is the owners stay at the Generator Miami hostel and see how well managed and maintained it is as a hostel. They could definitely learn a thing or two from them.
The only memorable part of my stay was the night receptionist, who was very polite and helpful and the roommates I met at night and in the morning.
Rooms: Needs improvement as listed above. Clean bathrooms with free toiletaries available and large locker spaces.
Safety: The female dorm is connected to the mixed dorms. Please beware.
Food & drinks: I think they have a kitchen open to everyone to use. I saw lots of utensils available.

Rooms: You're on vacation in the Florida keys. All you need is good air conditioning a fridge and microwave a bathroom and a great bed. Check !
Nearby activities: We love staying here because the closest beach is about four blocks away
Noteworthy details: Apparently this new mayor thinks that the roosters are a nuisance. Not us we absolutely love it and find the roosters are what make Florida keys special having them wake us up in the morning reminding us to not sleep in on vacation enjoy the full day and you feed them outside of your room. Watching the babies walk by with mama what an experience.

I had the privilege of being the only one in the female dorm during the two weekdays of May I was there! The place is clean and the workers are kind. I recommend bringing earplugs because the sounds of outside find their way inside. Best price in town, excellent location, free parking (if there is room left), free wifi, access to a communal kitchen, etc. The map at the entrance gave me 2$ off my entrance at the butterfly museum nearby!
