“This is a high end consignment store located on Lake Worth's Main Street. I have difficulty walking by consignment stores without stopping in and usually say to Dennis "I just want to look, I promise I won't buy anything". You see, I've had my days of collecting "things", whether it be Japanese wood blocks or cloisonné vases or antique clocks or antiquarian maps and the list could go on. So I really really just wanted to look. And there was a lot to look at. From a huge bronze King Kong (what a great piece to have bear my new pool I uttered and got a stern look of admonishment) to mink coats and stoles ("on my wouldn't they look good over Marqus R shoulders") to elaborate chandeliers and framed art to jewelry to an endless array of stuff. I engaged the owner in conversation and he bemoaned that he had been in this business for more than 50 years and people just don't collect anymore. Anything. Many of the items came from estates and he even shared the history of an incredible bedroom set that he had actually sold to the woman who placed it back in his store 40 years after buying it when she was downsizing her Palm Beach estate. The piece was just incredibly detailed in mahogany and inlaid mother of pearl and hand crafted bronze figurines. Like crazy beautiful from another era. We left feeling good after sharing information about some of the pieces in our collection and I posted a few pictures. That King Kong is still stuck in my head....”

Everyone is always complimenting how unique they are. The owner/artist/interior designer, Leslie Wiles, is skilled, professional, and personable. “Absolutely love this store! This is not your average furniture store. Walker has the most unique taste and eye. He is also one of the most interesting people I've ever met! He designs and produces most of the furniture in Bali while traveling the world and sourcing from South East Asia, India, & Africa. Love all of the organic wood and teak root tables/consoles. They are almost as impressive as the collection of Bali woven baskets. There is no other store in Palm Beach like this! An absolutely must see. It is an experience just walking in.”

“D&G Antiques is in the Villas along Antique Row on Dixie Hwy in West Palm Beach. Antique Row began as a handful of antique businesses that sprang up in the 1970's in an area that had been on a decline. By 1979 there were seven dealers on the 3700 block of Dixie Highway. Antique Row received a boost from a 1990's Architectural Digest article declaring it the best place in West Palm Beach to find treasures from 1920s Art Deco to mid-century modern. By 2003, Antique Row was drawing comparisons to the Rue de Beaune in Paris and New King's Road in London. Today trendy restaurants have joined the antique stores and there is a popular annual street fair.D&G's antique gallery sells a collection of fine antique, vintage, and mid-century modern and decorative accessories. They also sell one of a kind art and prints. I like how they prop the door open to make it more welcoming to stroll in. Once you enter you are surrounded by lamps, furniture, ceramics, and art objects worth thousands of dollars. It is cramped inside and I found myself clutching my bag tightly to ensure I didn't end up buying anything I couldn't afford. I can definitely see someone from one of the oceanfront Palm Beach mansions finding the perfect finishing piece for a room here. For me it was just fun to look.”
