“My bicycle is 5 years old and the transmission has been loud and clanky from the very beginning. I have taken it back to the shop where it was purchased 3 times. I have also taken it to three other bike shops but no one has been able to solve the issue.

Last week I dropped it off at Road & Trail Bicycles in Highland City for tires and I mentioned the noisy transmission. They found the problem and fixed it. The bottom bracket (bearing carrier) was broken. They said it was likely over tightened when it was first assembled.
