I have been a Carmax customer for over 15 years, never had any issues and when I did, they were quickly addressed. However, within the last week I took my car to be traded in at this location, I did the appraisal over the phone, they came back with a number a but low, but this is the common practice for this company. I asked to have 3 vehicles for me to test drive, this was never an issue before, but this time I was informed by Nana that customers are only allowed to test drive two vehicles, red flag number 1. I took the first option for a drive, really liked the vehicle, so I came back and said, let's make this happen. To my surprise the appraisal that took place this time, didn't actually happen as Carmax came back and low ball me on my appraisal an additional $700 dollars, stating the vehicle had an intake. I had previously taken the car to the Tampa location a few months back and I was told if I bring the car back to stock, then it shouldn't be an issue to have it traded as its now within OEM specs. My issue here and that this appraisal individual didn't even bother to open the hood in the vehicle to attests that indeed there were aftermarket parts. So we as customers are not allowed to speak to Carmax about getting a better price, but they can choose to low ball trade in values as its convenient for the company. After 15 years of loyalty to this company, I am now done with it, as Carvana offer me at extra 2k for the vehicle without jumping thru hoops and their customer service was on point, not the mediocre service at this location.

This review is for Heather, our associate who helped us. She was nothing but sweet, kind, and went above and beyond when I was confused and asked a million questions. Her patience gave me confidence in my decision. Yes, the offer was lower than it "should" have been, but I'm a believer in paying for convenience and service. So while I sold my truck for less than it was probably worth, they handle EVERYTHING for you and make the process super easy. An hour of working with Carmax saved me potentially weeks of private selling and headaches. If you're looking for an easy way to sell your car and you understand you will get lower than value (but still fair), then this is where you need to be.

JC, My associate did a very good job. Was very patient and got the pay off even though we had a bit of a hiccup but took care of me. He got me a good amount for my car. This is the second time I've used CarMax in Lakeland.. highly recommended. they apraise your car in a fairly quick amount of time and cut you the check all within about an hour or so. Can't beat it if you need to get out of your car payment. Kudos to CarMax of Lakeland!

After submitting my vehicle information online, I was requested to bring my vehicle in for an in-person evaluation. When I arrived for my appointment, the staff filled out the very same online evaluation questionaire while asking me questions. The staff did come back with a fair offer within 45 minutes.

I had the best experience buying a car here. Brett and Chance were super patient and amazing. They totally made the process so easy for me. I visited a bunch of other places to purchase a vehicle and Carmax was hands down the best place overall in my opinion.

Service at Lakeland CarMax was slow and near zero interaction, they tell you to sit a wait, then ignore you for 20+ minutes while all you want is to get a price offer on your used car. The pricess on their inventory were on average $2000 to $4000 over their competition's listed pricess. My daughter found the same exact car at another dealership for $3800 less. Representative "Chance" was the only person that finally came to us, thank goodness for him to finally notice, otherwise it would have been zero stars.

My experience with CarMax was SEAMLESS! I walked in to get an appraisal and left with a reasonable offer. When I returned 2 days later I was helped almost immediately and it took under an hour to complete the process. Even with the “check engine light” on my vehicle brought a value higher than any dealership in town. It REALLY is THAT SIMPLE.

Tampa CarMax, 2 years ago (five stars). Lakeland CarMax, 2 weeks ago (zero stars if possible). Complete waste of time. One of the worst car buying (or car buying attempts) I've ever had. Brought in a trade and was gonna buy a vehicle they had there. The salesman assigned to me was inept, lazy, and should be fired. I wasted just about 4 hours of my time, because of the salesman. Did I say he was lazy yet? Or incompetent? Because of his refusal to change the address (from my business to my home) when I pointed it out to him, after 3.5 hours, they said that the title wouldn't transfer. I'd have to wait, who knows how much longer, to get the corrections on the contract and to reprint everything. I told them forget it! Because of the salesman's lack of common sense, I didn't want the deal anymore. They tried to salvage the sale and came up with this ridiculous plan for me to come back for the vehicle I wanted in 2 days. So after 4 hours, I left still driving the vehicle I wanted to trade in. I called and told them to cancel everything and to void out the down payment, which they would not do unless I returned to their location. Otherwise, they'd send a check and it could take 2 - 4 weeks, because they want to make it as inconvenient as possible for the customer. And they told me they'd send the title to me right away. Two weeks later and after 4 more phone calls, Melissa, a manager, tells me she's holding it in her hand and will send it out. The last 3 times I called, every other manager I spoke to said it was already sent out and on the way. Someone is full of *ish! Or several people there are full of *ish! Deliberately delayed me getting me title back for over 2 weeks. Very childish and vindictive! All thanks to the completely incompetent salesman they had!

Extremely poor experience. I came to trade in my vehicle and buy a vehicle from them. I had problems from the start from the salesman appointed to me (lazy, abrasive, etc.). After 3.5 hours, all paperwork was signed, the E-contracts were signed, and I expected to be leaving with the keys to the vehicle I just purchased from them (I paid over $4k with my credit card and the balance with a check. This was a cash deal). Not so fast, the salesman, messed up the address, so the title couldn't be transferred. Their resolution to this was just to sit and wait because the paperwork had to be reprinted. They could not tell me how much longer it would be. It could be 1 more hour, it could be 2 more hours. Told them to cancel the contract. That the deal was off. I was not expecting this to take almost 4 hours. After taking 20 more minutes to try to find a resolution, they kept all the paperwork there to try to "correct" everything, had me drive my trade in vehicle home and told me to come back in 2 days to complete the purchase. Needing to get out of there, I left and on the way back, I realized I just wasted 4 hours and decided I didn't want their vehicle anymore. Instead of just voiding out the credit card transaction the same day, they went out of their way to inconvenience me and said they'll send me a check but it can take 2 - 4 weeks to receive it. We're talking over $4k. And I asked about the title of my vehicle that they still had. They told me they'd send it to me. A week and a half later, I still have not received my title. Very frustrating. Horrible experience. I bought a vehicle elsewhere, but I'm still waiting on my title. Update: Over 2 weeks later and 4 calls to different managers, a manager told me that the title WAS NEVER SENT and has been sitting there this entire time even though 3 different managers told me that it had been sent. They went out of their way to have 3 different managers lie to me so they could inconvenience me about getting my title back. That's simply put, extremely petty and childish behavior!
