George C. McGough Nature Park is an awesome, free nature park in the heart of Largo, a beautiful place for a short walk through real Florida nature in the middle of town. It is a free animal reserve and rescue, with donations accepted. Visitors can get up close with Florida's coolest birds of prey in the rehab area and see other animals like snakes, owls, and fish inside a building. Outside, one can observe birds and turtles, with food available to feed the turtles. The wildlife is spectacular, and there are many comfortable walking trails to venture around, including a walkway over the water. The park is very large, with trails leading to intercoastal ways. It is very family friendly, featuring a great little playground with a zip line, swings, and slides, perfect for kids. It is an awesome place to spend an afternoon, highly recommended for families, couples, and friends.
Saw turtles, lizards, and snakes. The beach side was closed until spring '27 according
