Bad customer service. Asked to hold two shades as my mother was not feeling well the day went in just got a call asking if we still wanted, I said no but thank you and then before I could continue she hung up on me. This place is over priced any way.

I was apprehensive about buying a light fixture unseen as the style I wanted was in a catalog only. The staff was super helpful and he went almost directly to a page in one of their dozens of catalog vendors and picked out the lighting here. It hit all my wants/needs and is perfect for my space. This is the difference between seasoned pros and online boiler room order takers. They can't have everything on display, but don't give up if yours is not there to touch.

I guess I didn't look "rich" enough to be waited on in this store. They weren't busy but I was totally ignored. The woman who walked in in front of me got waited on and the woman who walked in behind me got waited on. So me and my money that I was ready to spend walked out the door. This was around 3 PM on Tuesday, March 7th.

Always closed sat-sun-mon and now 4 days for the holiday, but website says open til 4 pm today! So many other days closed!! Sat & Sun being the only days most working people can shop! You make it difficult to stay loyal to one of our local businesses vs having to travel to Tyrone or further! Very sad! 11-25-2022

My 97 year old mother brought in a lamp for repair. The owner, who runs the repair side of the business, was short with her as she had "interrupted" him while he was repairing lamps (his business). He said he couldn't look at it, he had no idea how much it would cost her, and he only accepts cash(even though his business accepts all form of credit). He made it clear she would have to leave it with him. After leaving the lamp and sharing with me how uncomfortable she was with the owner after apparently imposing on his time, I suggested I pick it up without being repaired, as it clearly was too big of an imposition. I did so the morning after she dropped it off. He had customers in the store so I didn't want to affect his business by telling him why I was retrieving it without being repaired. I took the lamp back to my car, saw that the socket simply needed screwing back on the interior rod, and repaired the lamp then and there in less than two minutes. On my way home, I called the store to tell them that I picked up the lamp because the owner, who I was also speaking too, made it clear that it was an inconvenience to repair or even look at the lamp. My call to the owner was a curtesy call. His immediate response was that my mother had effectively interrupted him at his repair business, and that I "have obviously never owned a business, proceeded by "What are you, a f...ing Democrat!". All of this came out of the clear blue. He then simply slammed the phone down. This is clearly an individual that is dealing with significant emotional or psychological issues' who should not in anyway be interacting in business with the general public. You can certainly make your own assessment, but I strongly recommend you seek out many of the other lighting businesses who I am sure will not engage in this individual's destructive and disturbed behavior. While I can handle it, my 97 year old mother, or anyone else for that matter, should not be treated as such.PS Not that it matters, but I own and have owned many successful businesses and am a moderate Republican who under any circumstance has never reacted to or treated a client or customer as this business owner did and presumably does.

I had an antique brass chandelier that needed rewiring and which was an absolute nightmare - brass arms with S curves that doubled back, antique sockets, and very narrow piping. I have rewired many a chandelier, but this one was ridiculously convoluted and beyond my capabilities and tools. House of Shades did an absolutely fabulous job and in short order. I have bought and sold antique fixtures for years and repaired many of them and can say with confidence that this place deserves a five star rating.
