I’m writing this on behalf of my best friend, Toffee. Toffee left us on September 14. He wasn’t feeling well—he wasn’t eating on his own but wasn’t refusing the critical care I was giving him. I took him to Dr. Tony’s office to check him out, and after the examination, Dr. Tony said everything seemed normal but suggested it might be dental issues, as Toffee had previously undergone a dental procedure. I trusted his judgment.
The next day, I dropped Toffee off for the dental procedure and picked him up afterward. Dr. Tony mentioned that this time they had to keep him under anesthesia for an extra 10-15 minutes but assured me he should be back to normal by Sunday. I trusted him, thinking everything was fine.
When I got home, I didn’t want to disturb Toffee, so I let him rest for a couple of hours. Around 7 p.m., I gave him his critical care, and I noticed his eyes were bloody red, and he wasn’t moving. I kept telling myself that everything must be okay, or else why would Dr. Tony have sent him home? Later, at 11 p.m., I gave him his critical care again.
The next morning, at 4:30 a.m., I woke up and found him unconscious. I rushed him back to Dr. Tony’s office at the Animal and Exotic Medical Center. All Dr. Tony said was, “I’m sorry, my deepest condolences to you and your family.” He didn’t even confirm if Toffee had passed away at that moment.
When I picked up Toffee’s ashes, I asked Dr. Tony why he hadn’t confirmed if Toffee was dead when I brought him in. He told me he had checked after I left, something that should have been done in front of me. I can’t help but wonder if keeping him under anesthesia longer than necessary contributed to this outcome. I still don’t understand why Toffee had to stay under for extra time, and why no one consulted me about it.

A couple weeks ago I called and was able to make a same day appointment for my sick bird. After bloodwork and an xray we were given medicine and a plan but someone was supposed to call us with the fecal results. No one called us that day so the next morning I called just after 8am and was told they were in surgery and someone would call me back. I waited until after 1pm that afternoon before calling again and was told that the fecal showed traces of yeast but "one of the medicines we were given would take care of it". We were only given 1 medicine so I asked more questions to clarify what medicine she was referring to and found out that they never gave us a medicine for yeast even though the notes said they did (we were given a different medicine that is for bacteria). When I told her we didn't receive the medicine she was referring to and after she looked further at our file her response was "it looks like you were not charged for it so I'm not sure what happened but if you want to come by after 3pm we will have it ready for you". We did pick it up and gave it to the bird right away but unfortunately he died less than 48 hrs later. I understand that him dying wasn't necessarily the vets fault as birds are fragile and there are many different factors including what could've been causing my bird to be sick. But the overall experience and the fact that we were not given the medicine that we were supposed to get (and we didn't realize this since we were given a medicine that we assumed covered what they were treating for and trusted what they were doing/giving us) and the fact that there was no sense of urgency to get back to us with the results says a lot and is NOT OK for any sick animal. They seemed busy and overwhelmed and after a $600 vet bill (that we gladly paid because we love our pets like children) it felt like we were just a number to them.

Vet techs and receptionist staff were incredibly kind and compassionate. I am truly grateful for their time and tender care. Services were great.
Dr. Tony created a diagnosis of my dog's situation before having met and/or seen and/or touched my 14yr old dog. My experience of him was presumptuous; I do not feel I was given all possible routes and options for my boy's healing process, and was directed immediately to surgery. Upon concern I called around to 4 other vets explaining my situation, and was provided with other options that were much less invasive than surgery.
My invite is to always get a second opinion.

Dr. Tony is saving my cockatiel’s life. He quickly found her medical solution while New York exotics could not. Animal & Exotic Medical Center is the most fairly priced veterinarian I’ve been to. The doctor and his entire staff are extremely wonderful.

I’ve been taking my 2 now senior dogs to Dr. Tony for 14 years.
He’s done surgery one 1 dog and literally got down on the floor with the other dog when it was time to go over the rainbow bridge. He has such compassion. You won’t be disappointed.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the staff at the Animal and Exotic Medical Center. After over a month of emergency room visits and dealing with my pup's vomiting and what I thought was weakness from dehydration, I went to see Dr. Q. The staff was really attentive and Dr. Q truly listened to my issues. Despite my baby seeming okay during our visit, Dr. Q suspected Addison's Disease and set up the necessary tests. Thanks to his expertise, we finally got a diagnosis. My doodle is on the right treatment now and doing so much better! The care that he got at Animal and Exotic Medical Center was top notch! It made all the difference. Highly recommend!

I’ve had such a positive experience here with Dr. Tony and his staff that I continue to drive 45 minutes out of my way to have this team care for my guinea pig! From my experience calling in to the care plan for my guinea pig who had a somewhat complicated bladder stone journey. This crew is confident and caring in their work and as a pet parent that is something that is so reassuring. I’d like to emphasize that guinea pigs are extremely sensitive and from my experience at 2 other vets - Dr. Tony is the best at providing comfort. My guinea pig is so well cared for here, my anxieties are truly taken away when leaving him behind. To the staff: you guys are amazing, you are problem solvers and amazing care takers. To Dr. Tony: thank you for your determination and expertise.

Best Vet in Pasco. First vet we took our beardie to insisted he was a female .smh the vet cost us as much as this vet did except this vet actually treated our boy and performed the correct testing to find out what was wrong with him. He performed a sono, blood test, withdrew fluids from his abdomen did stool sample and we found out our beardie has ADV in which he was sold to us with this virus already. It just had been dormant up until past several months unbeknown to us. Dr Tony prescribed a medication that properly helped our boy to the point he started to shed again. He hadn’t shed in months prior to this medication. The office here along with the Vet called a few times to check in our beardie as well. You can tell they have our beloved pets in their best interest.
