Small litter center geared towards kids. It has a nice walking trail and access to the beach. Pretty standard fair for state funded wildlife center

The Barrier Island Sanctuary was really amazing. It had great facts about what is happening to Florida's beaches and turtles and how we are helping to keep the turtles safe and able to live to get to the ocean. There are many interactive things for kids and many people to play with and have fun. They have activities to do there to like making bracelets and other activities.

We saw this on our way home from Vero Beach and stopped because it was free. They only had a couple turtles, but they were so cute and playful with each other. The video was nice too. Got through the whole place in 30 minutes and learned a little about how the organization is helping turtles.

Small sanctuary, but some nice, educational displays. They do have a boardwalk walkway, and very short hiking trail. Unfortunately, we didn't see any wildlife the day we went, but we still had a good time. It's free to wander, but I bought some things for my grandbabies at the gift shop (hoping to support the cause a bit)It's worth a stop if you're in the area.

What a great idea to have a little wildlife-related display! We really enjoyed learning more about the plants, animals and habitat of the area. Nice job appealing to all ages. (Bathroom available). The beach with a parking lot is right next to it... (heads up: no rinse off area)

Free little museum. Focus on marine life, especially turtles. The exhibits are informative but aging, as some of the interactive parts weren't functional. There is an outside deck with a kids play area and a nice boardwalk.Easy way to spend an hour and and learn a little.

This was just what we needed on a cooler beach day. From the friendly staff to the educational components, the kids loved it. My daughter got to pick one souvenir on the trip and she ended up with a baby sea turtle stuffed animal that she loves, and we love that the proceeds go to conservation efforts in the area. Some other highlights for them were the outdoor play areas, the sea horse, the touch tank with sea urchins and sea cucumbers, and of course, running amok outside on the boardwalks. It's not a huge place, but it's just enough for two small kids in my opinion. Outside of the nearby Sebastian Inlet State Park, there's not a whole lot to do in the immediate area, so it more than fulfilled our desire to get out and do something.

Fun, small museum to learn about sea turtles, other animals and surrounding beach. Don't miss the walk path behind the building. Great staff and volunteers. A cute gift shop and lots of fun events throughout the year.

Free Florida Fun. Impresses like a small science center with an emphasis on turtles, whales, and the area's ecosystem. There's barefoot trails to explore the intercoastal across the street, beach access (closed due to the last hurricane), short boardwalk, and small gift shop. They do nighttime turtle walks in June and July, might be fun.

What a lovely group of people! The sanctuary is an amazing place to visit. If you get a chance it's totally worth it. They are a deep well of information about sea turtles. Here, you can link up with the folks from the Archie Carr Conservancy, and it's possible to sign up for turtle walks through that organization. A turtle walk is an amazing experience if you can get on the list.
