Dr wouldn't refill an Rx HE WROTE for my dogs ear drops (3 weeks after vet visit) when I wanted to make sure the girl taking care of our dog had enough drops while we were away. That was my last straw. Go somewhere else

Our dog recently boarded and it was a very positive experience. She was well cared for and they kept us up to date on her stay and sent pics. We also appreciate the doctor’s and staff’s kindness and experience in all our visits. Highly recommend it!

We have been using SunShine for over two years now for our two dogs and our cat. We have had great experiences every time we visit and Doc is very kind to our animals. Our cat is not very friendly but was still treated with kindness and professionalism to get the treatment he needed. We even moved out of the area and drive 30 minutes to continue taking our pets here. The entire staff is amazing and I highly recommend this vet!

Though he has been our vet for more than 10 years, I'm very disappointed in Sunshine Animal Hospital and specifically its vet and owner Dr. Kevin J Fontenot.Primarily, he has grossly excessive changes for medications. He charged $560 for a heavy duty antibiotic for our dog. I balked, rejected it and filled it on Allivet for $240. Medications are easily price-comparable. Services are not. So all his pricing became suspect and I intended to find a new vet. Additionally, he doesn't work with online prescription companies like Allivet, Chewy or PetMeds. The receptionist said it's because he doesn't have a fax machine. This results in a big hassle for pet owners and delay for his pet patients, which could negatively impact their health.While Dr. Fontenot's bedside manner is the subject of reviews, I always felt he was competent and likely had my dogs' well-being as his priority. I've lost confidence in that.I let him know I was not pleased with his office practices, and subequently received a letter to take my dogs elsewhere. Well, that we can agree on.I believe a business should run the way it wants to, and Dr. Fontenot is doing just that. God bless him. But, caveat emptor.

Both stars are for the front desk staff and vet assistant. Only bring in your pet if they won’t be nervous or resistant to new environments.My four year old cat is admittedly nervous at the vet. I took her out of her carrier and they left us alone while she explored the exam room for a few minutes. However, the clinic doesn’t allow owners to handle or soothe their pet during the exam. Big mistake! 20 seconds and one cat hiss later, I was told they couldn’t examine a cat that would “attack” them.I was stunned. I’ve been a cat owner for years (my first cat lived to 17 and my current one is four) and today was the first time my pet and I were labeled and rejected.Dr. Fontenot rudely suggested that “return to my previous clinic” which I would certainly do if I were still in that area.I look forward to discovering a clinic in my new locale that’s more empathetic to the pet’s experience and familiar with the variety of methods to help alleviate pet anxiety, like allowing the familiar and trusted owner to be more involved with the exam process. It’s a partnership! This makes me appreciate my many prior positive experiences with our former clinics even more. S/O to Stevens Animal Hospital in Pompano and Riverview Veterinary Hospital in Atlanta. I know our next great clinic is out there. ?⬛ ? ❤️

The staff and doctor are great! Very good at explaining things and I’ve never had a problem scheduling an appointment, even last minute ones! Pepper is nervous around people and they’re so gentle and calm with her. A staff member even offered her the water they had gotten for themselves! It was very sweet and much appreciated.

I can't say enough about Dr. Fontenot and his staff. They have taken care of my cats for the last twelve plus years and have done an amazing job. Yesterday, I had to make a very hard decision :-( He and his staff were very thoughtful and patient as I said goodbye to one of my babies. RIP Jabbs, you'll forever be in our hearts!

Great vet experience! They were able to squeeze us in the same day for a check up. The staff at the front were super friendly and they had a sweet old dog hanging out behind the counter. We took our cat in the back and she was let out to explore the exam room and befriend the staff. The Vet came in quickly and was very gentle and kind with our cat. He gave multiple options on how to handle the situation and the pricing was very reasonable! They also accept PetAssure insurance which gave us an additional discount! Highly recommend!

I’ve been with this vet for 2 years now with my fur baby Marley. Everyone is so kind and the doctor is amazing with Marley. I would recommend this vet hospital to anyone! Thank you to all the wonderful people that work for Sunshine, that make our visits so great!

Truly appreciate this doctor's care and honesty. Could have put my kitten through a bunch of expensive tests, but told me to hold off. Later on, she started feeling better and I saved a lot of money by not having a bunch of unnecessary tests done.

My wife and I have been trying to find an excellent veterinarian for dog Luna since we moved to Florida after 2 years and 6 vets this was the 1st vet that actually addressed our concerns our information about what was going on with our dog and provided a treatment plan that was commenced with her actual behavior and circumstances and now our 13 year old dog is acting like she's 2 again it's an amazing improvement and I would highly recommend anybody who is looking for a veterinarian to utilize sunshine animal hospital

I would like to update my review to a 5 star after receiving our remains today. I couldn't have asked for a better looking tribute for our fur princess. The extra package we purchased was well worth the cost. Our puppies ashes were in a silk bag, inside of a beautiful wooden box with her name plate. The box was inside a suede bag all presented in Pet Angel bag that was beautiful too. The card and coping with losing a dog documents from Pet Angel were wonderful but the custom written card from the ladies and veterinarian with our doggies paw print was absolutely amazing. Thank you all for helping us through this very hard process, we will be in with our baby boy for his next check up.

He splites the DAPP/Lepto vaccine that is single use for 2 pets. When I interviewed there years ago. He may not be doing this anymore but he for sure was AAHA accredited back in 2016 and that's when he was doing this. Any mixed vaccine is only good for 1 hour he would leave it set in fridge overnight and use on next patient in the AM. Sure vaccines cost private practice owners lots but that doesn't give him the right to manipulate the intended use to line his pockets. That is someone that truly doesn't care about the health of your pet.

Have been a client for 16 years and four dogs. Staff a friendly and the doctor is excellent.
